  1. I don't know about the skyshot, but I know they ditched the roller coaster for some claw thing that hangs you over the edge. Was the only reason I went to the Stratosphere.
  2. Yeah, late 80's early 90's Remember the armband season passes with the blacked-out barcode? I probably still have mine laying around somewhere. I rode the roller coaster and skyshot at the top of Stratosphere in Vegas before they got rid of them. Both were wild! I love amusement park rides, but rest of family doesn't as they make them sick.
  3. Presume sarcasm on every post and you'll be much better off...
  4. Yeah, they didn't do the pre-season passes back then. Geez, I think I paid $250 for my first season pass. I was referring to general ticket prices.
  5. Yeah, I heard much the same. I've seen him 2-3 times this year. I think he comes up more in the afternoons with his son. I don't think Bear has any good bumps, so now that his son's a bit older, he comes up to Blue for the bumps. I think the kids like it far more than the adults for obvious reasons. If they run it the same as other years, it depends on how many kids are in her age group as they'll do duals and if she wins, she keeps moving up. Again, depending on how many enter, so goes the standing around. Don't be bitter, it's been a bad year weather-wise all year. It's the East, ski what you're given, make the most of it and have fun doing it! After all, a day on the slopes is better than a day at work!
  6. I recall it only being advertised on the pre-season purchase blurb. As GSS said, I believe they've been putting it out the same time every year. It used to be with Ray, he would wait until all the mountains in the area announced their prices and he'd set the price a dollar or so beneath theirs. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that if Camelback announced theirs, Blue just followed suit so as to not lose those thinking about switching.
  7. I don't think Chris ever had a hand in it other than competing. The comp was all Johnny's doing. Now it's actually the BMR that's responsible for it.
  8. They had it on there a couple of years back, turned out great, save the conditions. They never seem to get good weather, always concrete bumps. Since it's less steep than Challenge, more kids took part. The times they had it on Challenge, the run was incredibly hard and people got injured on the jumps. I recall trying to break up the landings so that there was some semblance of soft landing, but nothing helped. Most kids didn't even want to attempt the run on Challenge. It's more of an interest in moguls event than an actual competition. Pitch is pretty bad. Hopefully they'll blow a big mound at the top so you don't have to push your way down. They won't even bother, maybe Johnny's kid will compete. Haven't seen Chris all that much this year up at Blue.
  9. Surely there'll be a civil lawsuit... Cha-ching!
  10. While arranging a new BMW delivery schedule?
  11. I refuse to utter those words about that trail .
  12. From what I'm told, there are a number of reasons why it's taking place on the learning slope. Having it on a slope far less steeper than Challenge allows for children to participate safely and build interest is one of them. We're constantly requesting that it be held on old Raceway, but they say the mountain doesn't want to close a slope for the event.
  13. Squall line just came through, it was dumping rain in buckets. Probably why they beefed up the base and blew snow this past weekend in expectation of this monsoon.
  14. Yeah, unfortunately location is less than optimal for adults but good for the kids that'll be participating...
  15. Not a raffle, but one of those "Person showing first pack of matches wins..." Picked up a hat and t-shirt as well. Unfortunately later in the day the quad bit it. Bob said it was down for at least the rest of the day. Didn't get the poop as to why though.

I thought Switchback was the best. Every time I rode it, I had the entire slope to myself.
  17. Hero snow on all runs tonight with small patches of hard packed here and there. Barney's, Nightmare and Challenge bumps were all in excellent shape, with a slight fill from the falling snow. Snow was falling from the time I got there until I left around 8:30. Of course, on the way home I had to get behind a pickup truck, but to my surprise they pulled over shortly after I caught up and let me pass! However, the same couldn't be said for some Jersey driver who was just in front of the pickup. They did 20-25 MPH from the stoplight at the board shop all the way to 946/987 intersection. Why people refuse to pull over when they have a string of cars behind them and they insist on driving at a snail's pace continues to baffle me?
  18. My first Langes were just all grey.
  19. You do have to watch with boot/binding compatibility in terms of size though. If you have shoe size to either extreme and the bindings were mounted the opposite, you may not have enough adjustability/travel in the bindings to properly fit the boot sole and may require remounting of the bindings to the skis. Probably unlikely, but a possibility.
  20. Wrong forum/thread. Take it to the Drivers one.
  21. I heard same thing happened to a patroller some years back. Fell, hit his head, thought he was fine, a few days later he didn't report to work and they found him dead at home. Traumatic Brain Injury...

Ray was cool. I used to boot up in the area by his office and he'd regularly stop and chat while blowing pipe smoke around.
  23. With all the beginners out and the antics thereof when attempting to un/load, it was no wonder that the lifts kept stopping yesterday. Many times at the quad, we took to yelling "GO!, GO!, GO!", to which we were met with looks like we had two heads or something. It just boggles the mind that people who have never ridden the lifts don't watch how others get on and just follow suit. It's not that difficult!
