  1. Wow... Dennis, they let you wear the blue coat? Thats for the good instructors... hehe. I think CB should get nice riding jackets for the snowboard school... anyways, not to be a thread jack.. actually, i really haven't met too many people from CB... now that I think of it.
  2. Doug: You've been waiting for this post. Alright, consider me pissed. Finally. Here's how we know the apocolypse is upon us- Ski and Papasteeze have united in a cause peacefully. Camelback must be THAT bad. I love Camelback. I love the terrain, I love the mountain, I love the lodges, I love the employees in the food court, the rental shop, and some other places around the mountain. BUT- thank god I have never had that kind of thing happen to me. Ski, I can't believe that CB is still standing. I would have burnt the place down with that bait and switch BS. If only there was a mountain around here that had a nice atmosphere, decent terrain, and strong management. As you all know, I would be the last to jump on the "I hate CB" bandwagon. This has truly done it, though. I know from personal experience that Ski is a pretty classy individual who treats people respectfully (for the most part), especially when his daughter is around. There is no way that I can imagine him being out of line in this situation. Maybe since I'll be moving this summer I'll get a pass at Bear Creek next year... hmm... or maybe Elk or Sno if I move north... but I really think I might be done with CB at this point. I'll ski there the rest of the year, but they're really going to have to impress me if they want my season pass business next year.
  3. Hmmm... and all this time i thought the Mt. Dew Vertical Challenge was a wicked top to bottom bumps comp like the Mad River Glen Vertical Challenge...
  4. I'm leaving now to hit up blue for some night skiing. Red spyder jacket, black pants, black helmet with PASR stickers on back. Here's my "I'm going to Blue Mtn" rap, since doug hasn't been rapping much lately. I got an itch just like a flea No medicine i know i got to ski now i know where I gots to be in the woods off tuts taking a pee get in my car and head to the Booter pull up at the bar for a SoCo shooter lookin to pull some blue mt. cooter the panty raid king i'm the blue mt. looter too fast on burma gonna draw some heat from mark miller and the red coat fleet so i lay it down hard across main street look little snowbunny: skeet skeet skeet werd. See ya'll up there.
  5. Besides, everyone should come to blue to see me snowboard. Its a show, thats for sure.
  6. I'll probably be there for a pretty long session starting around noon. I'll probably ski in the afternoon and put on my board for the night. I'll be on black and red nordica skis or an old school never summer premier if i'm on my board. Just look for the guy on the board who looks like a skier with the wrong thing on his feet. lol. Red spyder jacket, black spyder pants. werd.
  7. Good post schif... I live about an hour from the mighty mountain known as Mountain Creek... yeah. Not for me. It takes me probably an hour and 15 min. to get to blue or CB. Home is what you make it. We all have our choices.
  8. But I mean, why are you so upset about it? Camelback has their reasons for doing everything. You've already told us that you think CB is the best mountain in the immediate area. Its like anything else in life- you make sacrifices to get the best quality. Even if CB's reasons for opening late and whatnot are business oriented, does it really matter? They're smart business people. I'd rather have someone smart at the helm than some braindead moron. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, putting that 6-pack in at Blue was one of the worst business moves I've seen at any resort in the area. Take everything with a grain of salt, man. I'm sorry I got so wiley in this thread, but I really do think Camelback is run well to a certain point. Would I like to have 2 more weeks added to our typical season? Yes. Do I want shitty snow that's going to damage my skis? No. EDIT: Doug, I skied at 13 different mountains last year.
  9. Obviously I was at Blue because I wanted to ski a little bit before work one day, and because blue is almost clean at the beginning of the year. I've gotten in 5 days this year, tomorrow will be 6. Not bad for someone who lives in the heart of Jersey. Also, blue is a little bit closer to work than CB. It made sense that day. Doug, I care about quality, not quantity. 50 days a year is good enough for me. Besides, I ski more mountains a year than you do. TP4- why the hell do you ski at CB? It makes zero sense to me, seeing the way you feel about it.
  10. And CB will be open with cover and conditions that are far superior to blue's this weekend, and into next week. tp4... basically what we're saying is... stop giving a shit about CB. You don't ski there, so don't worry about it. If you want to be heard, congratulations. Do you ski in jeans?
  11. No Doug, believe me, you're right. Why would anyone want to ski at a place where they have their priorities entirely out of whack... hey, but ya know what... at Blue the parking lots are for the most part unpaved, the lodges are both complete and utter shitholes, the food sucks, the snow is of lesser quality than that in a sno-cone, and they're obviously too cheap to pay anyone to pick up any garbage at the resort at all especially under the lifts, but they've got a completely unnecessary six-pack. Good place to ski.
  12. ski911 must be applauded. Great post. And Doug, don't worry about how many days i've been out... I guarantee its more than you think I've been out. I'll be spending my third day of the year at Blue tomorrow... against my wishes... but you have to use a free pass sometime. I'm hoping its real hard snow. Don't get me wrong, blue's not a bad option... if its all thats available, or you're not picky, or its close, or other things...
  13. Yeah, if CB had been open that extra week and at night their snow would have sucked as big a fat baby's balls as blue's always does...
  14. Yeah, even though blue is open their snow is far less than impressive. It is snow, however. Bottom line here is different strokes for different folks. If you can deal with packedmanmadeubergranularchip snow then Blue is your deal. (well, that and if you like the seaside heights atmosphere) Its like Glenn said- those of us that buy passes at CB do it for our own reasons, not because they've got the best early and late season of any mountain around. They don't. I'll openly admit that. I like CB for my purposes. And everyone else that gets a pass there feels the same way, I'm sure.
  15. You can follow me through the tunnel anytime you want... but I'll carry the skis... I wouldn't want them to end up in some uncomfortable place... ...like the back of a volkswagen
  16. About that tunnel to crawl through to get to challenge... actually sounds like a really good idea.... I mean, do you forget what its like on weekends there? I'm still all for not allowing rentals on the double blacks.
  17. Oh well. Hey, I'm not really mad at CB for all of this. Frankly, the snow conditions anywhere in the poconos aren't even close to great right now. Props to CB for trying to make skiing worthwhile. Oh well. I'll be there this weekend.
  18. Well... I've had one good lesson at CB. (yes, I take lessons periodically to see if there is anything else i can learn/work on/develop) It was part of the Masters program, which is basically race camp for people out of high school. One of the race coaches taught it. I do see a bunch of the instructors doing the pocono shuffle... And believe me, I was out there turning laps with the blue coats last weekend.
  19. I haven't seen an instructor at Camelback.... or Blue.... other than the race coaches that was anything close to being a good technical skier.
  20. If you really want the answer to this one ask papasteeze... he's the only guy I know that can turn one ski day into two
  21. Eh, those are "special occasion" types of places... most of the time I'll just stop in at the BK Lounge on my way to CB
  22. All depends what you like... Cleo got skied off pretty quick... huge piles of corn on the side of the trail, and the middle was hardpack. Honeymoon lane was hardpack down the right side, corn on the left. birches and tut had pretty thick corn, as well as the meadows.... hopefully it gets cool tonight and hardens up the snow a bit. The first few runs were ok, but then around noon when I was leaving it got kind of sloppy. i'd definitely catch the mountain early. It got pretty cold tonight, so I'm hoping they could do something with the hill.
  23. You... mucho cervesas? no way.... Yeah... thats one of my favorite eating spots... Got a few other good spots... Nova Terra in New Brunswick, Romeo's in Plainsboro, Europa South in Point Pleasant... I could probably go on forever... hmm... I love good food.
  24. Well, he said "late night" which to me means after 10 (after CB closes). Johnny's isn't open that late. It is, however, one of my hotspots and I'll usually make the 45 min. drive up there a few times a summer to eat some hot dog johnny's. Anywho... believe me... I've got eating in NJ covered... When you get north if you want some REAL good eating check out Jose Tejas in Woodbridge.
