  1. Been to both of them, plus another place in the UP. They get CRAZY amounts of snow. For the midwest it is about as good as it gets, just that it is up in the middle of nowhere.
  2. Both Ohio and Michigan are the mid-west. The only places that are decent to ski in Michigan are all in the UP, which is a crazy long drive but they get blasted with crazy lake effect snow up there. I have skied several places in both Michigan and Ohio. The biggest they get in Ohio (vert wise) is about the size of Big Boulder, maybe a lil smaller. The same goes for Michigan (southern Michigan, near Detroit) except up in the Northern Part (not the UP) there are some places that are about the size of Jack Frost. The 2 most popular are Boyne and Boyne Highlands.
  3. As a Network Engineer .... oh, F* it. I think the least of our worries are the water/pond/stream. More than that, we need cold CONSISTENT temps this year!
  4. At those prices, this time next year, I wil be able to contribute.
  5. I didn't know that Skier and Snowboarder are now considered "Races" .... interesting. Since I do both, what does that make me? I guess the next time I fill out a survey that asks for my ethnicity, I will just have to check the "other" box. I think the word you were looking for is prejudice.

    great trails

Jackwhacker, Keystone, CO - Its an awesome super-wide blue cruiser. At the trail head it is marked as "reserved" for ski school but it is open for everyone, so that keeps people off of it.
  7. We can be a little bit more respectful of the kid, who is now a quadriplegic, and not call him a tool bag. I am sure that his parents, who would have had to shoulder the financial burden, made all decisions on wether or not to persue the litigation. If the ruling is based on the fact that him over-shooting the landing is do to poor design, this can set a pretty bad president. If you hit almost any feature hard and fast enough, you can over-shoot the landing.
  8. Hey everyone, I really like how my current Carrera goggles fit, but the depth perception with them on overcast/snowy days is terrible. They have a blueish/clear lense which I think is the problem. I was wondering what any of you guys and gals could recommend for either brand/model of goggle or even just lense color that seems to provide excellent depth perception is varying conditions? Thanks in advance, kragan
  9. If you need more snow, you could come take it out of my driveway! I never shoveled it after the snow we just had, I live about 2 miles away right off of Dekalb Pk & Sumneytown Pk.
  10. Woo Hoo! I will be in Colorado March 14th. Landing there Wednesday afternoon, my buddy picking me up and we are driving to where ever the snow is good. I hope to head to the southern part of the state to try and hit Aspen and Telluride/Crested Bute.
  11. Sorry to take this off topic, but what time is this shin-dig getting started? I live right around the corner and would hate to miss it.
  12. Any one know of a place that I could demo the PE's? I have been considering them after hearing people talk about them but would like to try before I buy.
  13. wrong, its definitely an Alien ...
  14. I can't make it. I am getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth out the Thursday before and I don't think that I will be ready to go by Saturday.
  15. I spoke to my old college roommate Monday night who lives in Mammoth Lakes and he said its been a terrible year. Mammoth is 100% open, but for the locals, the conditions suck. He told me about June clsoing and I could not believe it. Last year they had record snowfall of over 400 inches
  16. How bad must the snow making crew be to blow so much snow to create unsafe skiing conditions. Props to the ski patrol for recognizing the potential danger, especailly an east coast patrol that does not deal with avi stuff very often.
  17. It's not foaming at the mouth for results, it's foaming at the mouth to be able to watch the race with the same exciting anticipation of who is going to win as if it were broadcast live. No one is paying extra just for the "news" of who one, they are paying extra to watch the actual race.
  18. Doug, I can see your point. However, getting daily updates from a mountain employee is very much appreciated and welcomed. If we had every mountain do that here, on one central website, it would be great. No more looking at several different sites or calling several differnet telephone #'s. SkiCB keep the reports coming!
  19. I would not force them. Thats what I did with my first board and ended up completely stripping it and not being able to mount any bindings They should go in easy, if it feels like you are trying harder than you should have to, somethings not right. I would take it to a shop for some assistance, generally they have all sorts of spare screws/parts laying around that they would help you out with.
  20. Or if the girl was not wearing a helmet. At least the parents were smart enough for that.
  21. There's never going to be a perfect solution. Steps, moats, trenches, park passes, snipers, attack dogs, whatever ... each mountain is going to do what they feel is best for their particular situation. Park's at local mountains have come so far in such a short time. I remember when I was younger (I am only 27 now) that if you tried to creat a jump of some sort, ski patrol was there flattening it before you could even hit it. As the saying goes, "You can please some people some of the time, but never all of the pople all of the time."
  22. Wow, Jeff. This is the THIRD thing that you said today that I agree with, I don't know whats going on.
  23. Sweet, that might actually get me to head up there. I don't believe that I have ever been to Montage/Sno and this would be the perfect opportunity!
  24. umm. well that is one way to introduce yourself to PASR!
