  1. That is the exact reason that I started snowboarding 2 years ago after 15 years skiing. But when I went out west last year for the first time, I mainly skied because of the advanced terrain.
  2. I would search www.yellowbook.com by placing bear's zip code in the "where" field and ski rental in the "what" field and see if any shops with BD come up. It may be worth a shot.
  3. Learning how to fall correctly is an absolute art form. It was hard for me to figure out on a snow board after all the years of skiing, but once I got it, it made a big difference. I think that they should some how teach that during lessons.
  4. Obviously, a firm believer in the "it takes money to make money" theory.
  5. This may sound really weird, but in the parking garage at Vail there is a little mexican restaurant that is actually really good and really cheap. Its a nice lil place to grab some grub and a beer to relax a bit before making the dirve back to Breck. When I went out there last March I stayed real close to Keystone, but skied Vail for 3 of the days we were out there. Each day we would walk back to the car, take our boots off and then head to that mexican place. Its in an open area that is good for people-watching and relaxing for a bit. You should check it out!
  6. What do I have to do to get my hands on the keys to a SnowCat?
  7. WOW! I have to say that this is one of the best threads that I have ever read on this MB. Mark, you have done an amazing job of answering everyone's questions and responding to comments and suggestions in an extremely professional manner. It seems that you and BC are doing everything within your power to get the mountain open, and beyond that, learning what you can from these poor conditions. I believe that the entire PASR community and staff appreciates the effort that you have port forth in keeping us all informed!
  8. Could not have said it better myself.
  9. Has CB come out and officially said they are not going to open up the east side of the mountain?
  10. Hmm, I wonder if we will see an influx of new members here ....
  11. The entire holliday week lost. I assume its not the way that the new owners envisioned their first season. I bet the county sure is glad that they were able to sell the place and miss out on losing even more money this year.
  12. I agree. Global warming is linked to 1 or 2 degree changes in ocean temparatutes, the size of the hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic south pole, and the receding glaziers and ice sheets in the polar regions. If all that we had were average temps that were 1 or 2 degrees above normal, all the mountains would be open, including the beloved Bear Creek. Not to belittle the threat of global warming, it does suck and if it exists, is certainly bad news for the lot of us.
  13. The video itself probably will not help. However, majority of the people that will take the time to sit through it are those that know it already. The rest of the people that don't have a clue, will not bother, and therefore won't be allowed in the park. Its all just an ends to a means.
  14. What is the process to get one? Just show a photo ID and thats it?
  15. Thats fantastic! My new house is just around the corner from you guys ... I'll def be there to check this out!
  16. A normal message board? Don't worry, we won't let that happen.
  17. It definitely was a good time. The snow could have been better, but with that many people on the limited terrain that was open, it was as good as can be expected. However, it is nice to know that I can make it from my house, with a stop at Wawa for coffee and another stop for gas, in just under an hour.
  18. I think that I will be there about 8:00 - 8:30 Saturday with POC. Can't decide if I want to ski or ride ....
  19. I think that is one of the biggest things for this year. Consistent cold temperatures would be nice this winter.
  20. Any idea on how many trails will be open (for those of us not interested in the park)? Trying to figure out if the drive up from Philly would be worth it.
  21. Throw a couple BMW badges on it and I am sure Jeff will buy it!
  22. I would rather put that money out for the dog than the car.
  23. Whoa! You mean to tell us that you don't buy 8 million dollar, super-light, super-strong, aerodynamic, anatomically body-molded to you in a wind tunnel poles?
