Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at dark o’clock and Johnny law was already in the house. Also in attendance were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, BenM, Dirtwolf, Mute, BooBear, Becky, NazarethJay, Henry, Mixilplix, Pops, Enjorales, Charles, Bethlehem Ford Guy, Harold, Kumar, MBike Mike, Nastar Glenn and many others. First run on Paradise was actually pretty good smooth corn. Upper Main Street was also good initially. Lazy mike had pretty crappy snow and homestretch became 8” deep sugar by like 820. Midway was the worst conditions..solid cookies. I only skied 7 runs, then hungout in the lot, tried the electric scooter again, had some beer and now back at work again to count money and eat candy. Well, we figured that today we would build upon our yesterday’s success and revisit Mürren, this time skiing it the “right way”, i.e. starting from top. Took us unbelievable 50 mins to reach it via bus and three gondolas, yuck, started in the dark, and by the time we got there the sun was rising somewhere behind the ridge, still not visible. But even so, somehow reflecting off the white tops on the opposite side, it illuminated the trails just fine, and we had no difficulties seeing where we were skiing. Grooming was perfect, hardly any people, both allowing us to ski at top speeds, and we’ve done more runs in the first two hours than in the entire afternoon yesterday. Then it gradually became busy, but unexpectedly not as much as yesterday, despite the “Kids ski free” Saturday. It was a perfect half day on top. Took a couple of outdoor bar breaks while enjoying the sun and scenery. After lunch decided to shift lower to Winteregg and get closer to another exit point, which wasn’t as busy as gondolas yesterday night… Bad decision, should’ve stayed up top. It’s true that all the trails were now in the sun and there were no viz issues, but OMG, what a difference 700m in elevation can make! 1900m vs 2600m… Sugar coated boilerplate all that was left for us. Did perhaps half a dozen of runs, and left for the day. Tomorrow - clouds, snow late at night and colder… They’ve been helicoptering snow canons around Winteregg in preparation for the cold.4 points

You know blue has a powerful snowmaking system that can get them through some tough weather. Just buy a blue pass instead of the endless mathematical equations about which passes will save you 50 cents4 points

Another excellent day for setting bumps on Main Street once the temps came up. Set a line from top almost to bottom, through the skid mark where the troughs were getting down to the dirt. Should be another great bump day tomorrow!2 points

The twins will get bored of Blue and their allowance isn’t enough to buy anything but the Indy pass2 points

5th chair on the az gondi...hike to terrain on upper bowl was open. I said fuck it and hiked the 500 vert to 12k. Lord Jesus was it worth every fucking step. Surreal. Shin deep, float city and a run that I won't soon forget. At the base taking a breather now but I could be done now and be a happy man.2 points

Another really fun day. Found some new off piste stuff which was nice then spent a lot of time on groomers and even some bumps off of lower ridge. Lower bowl into logjam was so good all day because the wind was blowing lose snow out of the woods and off the trees onto the trail so there was a skiff of new snow each run on it (first pic below...grand canyon was visible today as well...3rd pic gotta look closely much easier to see it in person). The sun finally did come out and still is in town. They're still say snow showers tonight. We'll see.1 point

Currently enjoying a coffee in the lounge by the fireplace (btw the coffee is readily available which is another reason this place is awesome...not to mention their ridiculously good breakfast. They don't just have a waffle maker but two ... Regular and one brown cinnamon sugar waffles which is so bad ass.). As for the skiing it appears there's more sun on tap for today with a high of around 35. Later this afternoon they're calling for snow showers and up to an inch in town which could mean a few inches in the mountain for tomorrow am. Tomorrow will be a short morning sesh before I need to head back to Phoenix (with perhaps a pit stop in Sedona). I plan on exploring more off the goni today to see what I can find.1 point

Arrived at the staff last night after a pit stop on campus to drop off some stuff at my kids apartment. From there I-17 north was a breeze. Part of the fun always of coming to Arizona is driving north on 17 and watching the endless cacti and desert scenery turn into the greener mountains and valleys of the Verde Valley and Prescott and ultimately into for and pine trees and jagged peaks covered in snow. Speaking of which...there's plenty of it in town. Everything on the mountain is officially open with the exception of the upper bowl which I have a feeling is also "open". Awd is required to get up Snowbowl road and thankfully the good people at Alamo had an awd vehicle waiting for me. Shout out to the comfort inn in Flagstaff as well for being not only an awesome ski chalet type place but for also knocking $20 a night off my room rate simply because the person in the room under me is a complete tool bag who's annoying the shit out of the front desk.1 point
