  1. Jesus... Standard rate at most shops here is $25-$30, but I can usually get that down to about $15-20 if I look for a coupon
  2. I've mounted skis with paper jigs before. Its easy, and I can do it just fine. However, I just prefer to spend the $15 - $20 to have someone else be on the hook if they screw up the mount.
  3. I don't need the 18 din either. I run my Din at 12. I just do it for the metal toe and heel, since I typically destroy my equipment. It is kind of comical that every time I get a pair of skis mounted, I have to sign a release since the din only goes down to 10 and my chart setting is 9.5.
  4. I put PX-18s on them....so much for being light . I have the PX-18s on all of my resort skis because they are cheap, don't break, and I don't really care about weight when skiing in bounds.
  5. Got some ON3P Jeffreys this year after my sidewall exploded last year on a pair of 4FRNTs. They are fun as hell. Most versatile ski I have ever owned. Its amazing what a 110 mm uf ski can do with some traditional camber+tip rocker. I am convinced that ON3P makes by far most well built skis on the market today. I now have the Jeffreys and Caylors and I can ski over rocks all day with barely a scratch on my bases, while other skis will lose chunks of sidewall. Other ski companies may have fun shapes, but no one else even comes close to the quality that ON3P produces (ok...MAYBE Praxis comes close).
  6. My point exactly. If he said he was going to SLC or the PNW for better snow, he would have a case. Telluride has far better terrain and similar snow, the two things that should matter to real skiers. Unless you get caught up in the glitz of aspen, I don't see the case for why it's better? that said...both aspen and telluride ROCK
  7. Telluride>Aspen maybe someday you will realize that CB>Telluride>Aspen
  8. If you like clothes that are about as durable as a sheet of paper
  9. yeah, that stick in the 2nd shot is ridiculous. someone should move that!
  10. you average 12 mph on a mountain bike ride? edit: nevermind...was that on a road or paved path?
  11. naa man, this was a quad and an half black diamond XXXXXXXXXXXtreme terrain!
  12. Here's a couple more from the 2nd run we skied yesterday. The first is me at the top of the ridge we got dropped off at. This was a really crazy landing for the heli, since the ridge is about 4 feet wide. In the distance, you can see our guide digging out a landing zone to make future landings on this ridge easier for the pilots. The second is one of the other skiers in the group skiing the line. This one was STEEP, way steeper than anything I would probably be able to ski in winter snow conditions in colorado....pretty much ever Weather day today, and we leave tomorrow. Probably going to go on a little skin later. Ill post a full TR of this trip at some point. Total of four AMAZING days of heli skiing and 20 runs..we skied every day from tuesday thru friday. we got a great weather window which I am very thankful for. Already making plans to come back...be warned, if you do this you will not only be doing it once! Jordan
  13. up in haines for the week...we are having some beautiful weather...skies 2 heli days so far, and it looks like today and tomorrow are going to be great too! one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, and some of the best skiing on earth!. more to come...
  14. no bars on any of the lifts at loveland. Its glorious. I always forget that bars exist and get clocked in the head whenever I go anywhere else. Loveland justifies it by citing studies that prove kids are more likely to fall off of chairlifts with the bar down( they have a false sense of security and slide underneath), or they fall off trying to put the bar down more often than they would be if the chairlift didn't have any bars at all. Skiing is a dangerous sport, and the risk of falling off a lift is negligible compared to the risk I take actually skiing.
  15. Just about every single sherriff's office and SAR group in the country opposes charging for rescue and refrains from doing so. It's the uninformed people in government, or others not involved who have no sense of what goes on or the ability to even form an educated opinion on the matter that tend to support charging for SAR. People tend to not call, or wait too long to call for help if there is a risk of a charge. This puts not only their own life at more risk, but also increases the risk for rescuers when they have to assist a more severely exhausted individual or individuals under less ideal conditions. If your house catches on fire, should you have to pay the fire department to respond to your call for help? If someone breaks into your car, should you have to pay the police to assist you? Shit happens, and there are public services out there to help us when shit hits the fan, and nobody questions those. I feel extremely lucky to live in a state devoid of this bullshit that Vermont is trying to pull. In Colorado, a nominal surcharge (less than $2 or so) is tacked on to every fishing license, hunting license, OHV registration, snowmobile registration, etc..and is used to reimburse volunteer SAR groups and sherriff's departments for costs incurred associated with SAR activities. Victims are never charged for rescue (even helicopter evacuation) in the state of colorado due to this fantastic program developed within the colorado state government with the assistance and input from the people who are on the front line putting their lives in danger actually performing these rescues. BTW, why should I have to pay for the fire department to respond to some MORON who fell asleep with the candle still burning?
  16. Vail sucks. The bowls face south and are at like 9000 feet so unless it just snowed two feet and the sun has not been out, they have a super fun ice crust on them
  17. From what I have seen, yes. snowboarding is definitely not as popular as it once was
