3/3/18...variable snow..a lot of PASRs.
saltyant replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I seem to be in the minority today because I found the snow enjoyable on most trails, except on the two Main Streets. I'm such a noob because I Kept looking for Nightmare but couldn't remember how to get to it. Lawl. -
Looks like I-80 around that area is still shut down. Can't wait to hear the full report from Enjorales.
-
They repeatedly made me think the opening was imminent even though it wasnt. If they would have said "lift opens at 3" then I wouldn't have cared. Looks like they dont have either high speed quad running today.
-
Blue was pretty rad. Skied Lazy Mile a lot which was in good shape. Also did 2 Burma runs and some Paradise and Dreamweaver. One run down Main Street but it sucked. Also saw some cool PASRs and got some second-hand vape.
-
I was considering going to Camelback to ski some packed powder, but after reading this and all the Facebook comments I'll pass.
-
They pulled that crap the one time when Stevenson Lift was on delay. Kept saying check back in 30 minutes starting at noon and they didn't open the lift until 3.
-
Decided on True Bloo today. I80 is still a cluster and the roads sound horrible.

Hopefully. There will be so much fresh cord tomorrow at First TraĆ! -
I didn't know they opened the new one. I used to love driving the old one. Rolled my windows down in case it buckled. Today would have been a bad day to drive it if it were still in use.

Sometimes I drive just to see dumb stuff like that. When I was in Las Vegas I drove 5 hours round trip just to see the gate at Area 51 and to eat an Alien Burger at the world famous Little Alie-Inn.
-
Here's what Kurt is saying: I kinda want to drive west like 10 miles just to see the abrupt transition into no snow.
-
IDK. 6-8 inches?
-
Ok! I'll look for you on the Stevenson Side.

I'm so proud of you guys. WTGAI JADIP. I can't even get motivated enough to finish shoveling.

Skye Peak is a cluster of trails. I always get lost there because 3 different lifts service that area and I forget which side I'm going to end up on. I have no clue as to what specific trails they are making these changes. -

Camelback is expecting 15 inches and looks like they're closing down for the day. There will be lots of untracked perder tomorrow. How much is the true Blue getting?? -
Looks epic. Hope you didn't get too much of that stuff in your face. I got a lot of it just from shoveling.

Just turn off pictures in your browser like I do. I can stretch out my 500 mb limit by several extra months by doing this. -

Back on topic. Not sure where I should go tomorrow. Its probably going to be insanely crowded. Should I return to Camelback or switch over to True Blue? Any thoughts? -

Exactly. For me I don't understand the differences and nuances in ski types. I think it's all marketing BS. "RTM" sounded the coolest so that's what I went with. Oh, and I thought they looked really cool too. -
I'm not skiing today, but just wondering how fun this heavy wet snow is to ski in? Seems like it would take a lot of effort.

My RTMs are rad. The shop sold them to me for the low low price of $599 and this included mounting the bindings and a free wax. Still trying to calculate the degree to which the 7 cm deficit has impacted my stats for this season. -

Yes, but at CB they rarely check your ticket. At Killington they make you stop every single time to scan it. My order of preference for lift ticket verification (best to worst) is: Camelback/Montage laissez faire; Stowe/Blue RFID reader; and Killington/Roundtop manual scanning.
