  1. Still eating. Will definitely miss FirstTrax at 4 Runner but it's all good in the hood. Even if I ski 9 to 4 Thats still 7 hours. Got to fill up on carbs for the day so I dont have to spend $30 on a hamburger.
  2. Still snowing!!! Have to wait until 7:30 for the free breakfast at the hotel. Started eating Cheerios at 7:01 but got yelled at that breakfast doesn't start until 7:30. Told the dude I wanted to get an early start to get all the perder before everyone else, but he said no exceptions. I didnt actually get yelled at but I'm an entitled millenial special snowflake and I should be able to start breakfast early because I'm a VIP.
  3. PMed you my number. Text me anytime, I always have my phone on me, and I'll head to the top of Sensation. What a game, congrats all Eagles fans.
  4. He randomly pops out of the woods from Smuggs. That's awesome. I didn't even know the two mountains were connected.
  5. Just realized his name sounds like mogul. Just kidding I realized that a while ago, but didn't notice immediately. Funny!
  6. Ok, sounds good! I stick mostly to blue groomers, though if I'm skiing well I'll try some of the easier black runs.
  7. My tone on here is always non-serious, even though I forget that it doesn't always come across online.
  8. It's nice for a place that's only $97 per night with tax and only 3 miles from Stowe. Yes, breakfast is included. I used to be unsure about staying at budget motels not under a brand name, but they can be nice places. I always read the TripAdvisor reviews ahead of time and this one has really good reviews. Didn't do anything in Plattsburgh, though the ferry was a lot of fun. Thought I was going to get seasick a few times as it was a rough ride. Crossing Lake Champlain has been on my bucket list since first reading about Samuel de Champlain's 1609 discovery in history class.
  9. Joking!!! Definitely don't want to make this a political thread.
  10. This evening and the hotel remind me of Rocky IV when Rocky, Paulie, and Tony stayed in the cabin in the middle of the Siberian wilderness to train. It's cold, snowy, and communist territory.
  11. Did you ever ride the train? I know you love trains so you must have. I took my road bike on the train to Silverton and raced the train back to Durango, beating it by 45 minutes even though the train had a 2 minute head start and I had to stop at a lot of extended traffic lights for construction on route 550.
  12. Speaking of clusters, when I first saw this I was like what? Looking at it closer and not at the full map, I think I understand it now.
  13. Thanks. That's what I was thinking, get on the 4 Runner Quad at 8 am and do some runs on Ridgeview/Lord/North Slope until 8:30 when the gondola opens, then I'll do some of those blue runs while there's fresh cord down. I really like how the trail map looks, everything seems very organized. I'll be hanging a map in my room right below the Killington trail map, but I think Stowe's is nicer.
  14. Lol that you forgot the apostrophe. I do the same thing all the time and constantly edit posts. Funny thing is I didn't even notice that you missed it, I only scrutinize my own writing and don't even notice when other people make minor mistakes.
  15. Looking to start with some ungroomed blue runs tomorrow. Any good trails to start on which will be the least tracked? Looking for Stowe insider tips no one else knows about.
  16. Today was an epic day in northern Vermont. Started off in Plattsburgh NY where I stayed the night before to cross riding the Lake Champlain ferry off my bucket list. Then in VT the gas station gave me a free coffee for spending $20, which got me super stoked. Afterwards found free parking in Burlington at the garage next to Macy's, and then spent the next 1.5 hours walking around Steeze's old stomping grounds. Highlights were Church Street shops, the waterfront, and Battery Park. Burlington is a nice small town, though I have no clue how Steeze made it out of there without being indoctrinated as a die-hard liberal. Around 1:30 headed toward Stowe, driving through the heart of University of Vermont, and accidentally took I-89 north because it's counter intuitive to take I-89 south to go north to Stowe. After 5 minutes realized I was going north which wasn't consistent with my giant sized atlas, so got on the correct route. During this time freshies started coming down progressively heavier as elevation increased. Interstate was wet but Routes 100/108 were pretty snow covered, so took my time and enjoyed the amazing northern VT scenery, ecstatic that it looks exactly like it's supposed to this time of year. Finally reached Stowe to scope the place out and looked left out my car window to see the magnificent slope. I like that it was foggy because that builds the anticipation to see what the whole mountain looks like on a clear day. Went to the Mansfield Lodge to pick up some trail maps and to drop off my RTMs for another overpriced tune and wax. Using the free wifi saw that toast thinks I'm a gaper. Then took the easy over Gondola to Spruce Lodge and signed up for a clinic Tuesday, which is discounted with combined lift ticket and lesson. Yet another sa-weet deal today. The lift attendant complimented me for wearing my famous A Christmas Story fur hat. Last, checked into Northern Lights Lodge, a really nice place for the low price. At check-in, told the dude I read on their website that if I stay 4 nights I get 1 free, so by remembering this I saved another $97.90. Cha-Ching. This will pay for my lesson entirely and I'll still have an extra $5.90 to put towards my overcharged wax and edge. Told him I'm also an AAA member, but he said if they combine too many deals they'll go out of business. Also the check-in dude went to college in Lehigh Valley so he's familiar with all of the resorts we regularly visit, even Mountain Creek. He's a former Blue season pass holder. Super stoked that it's dumping outside and I'll be at Stowe bright an early for 7:30 tomorrow. Updates to come. It also just made my day that this post is the first on a new page.
  17. Thanks! When discussing lubricating my bike gears with the shop, the owner recommended I use a certain type of lube, but I would need to regularly clean the drive chain. I told the owner I'll start cleaning it from now on, and he correctly replied "no you won't". He knows me too well.
  18. Stowe. I should have shopped around for a deal but I procrastinated too much. Oh well, no big deal. I wanted finely tuned RTMs for my next few days of skiing, since I only get to do this once a year. I'll have to start doing more research and shopping around. I hate doing any kind of maintenance on anything so I tend to get lazy about it.
  19. I'm pretty sure I got the quick wax and tune, though regardless it's too late now. My RTMs will be ready for 7:30 tomorrow. I was devastated to see that there's some rust along the edges. The shop told me it's normal and not to worry about it. I've been trying to wipe off the edges with a cloth after every session, but I guess I missed doing so a few times. I'll have to spend more time researching ski tuning. Just tend to be lax about equipment maintenance and usually don't bother until something breaks. I learned how to tune my bike gears when they shift improperly, and then realized that shift tuning actually isn't difficult at all.
  20. Signed up for group clinic. They'll classify me according to ability after watching me do one run. Joked with the lesson lady that they'll probably just tell me to quit skiing. Also dropped my RTMs off for the $45 tune up. There are a lot of sweet RTMs everywhere. They are definitely the most popular ski here.
  21. Some mean mods are messing with my tags again. Not cool. Steeze said I deserve the jerry tag instead.
  22. Made it, currently at Mansfield Lodge!! Steeze you mislead me, they want $45 for a tune and wax here. I could have paid only $35 in Burlington. I guess there's been some inflation since your college days. Preparing to take the over easy gondola to ask about lessons at the Spruce Lodge.
  23. Currently eating a huge free breakfast at the hotel and then heading out into Burlington. Filling up like a boa constrictor on fruit loops, sausage and scrambled eggs so maybe just maybe I can skip lunch today.
  24. Thanks, I'll check that out tomorrow. I was looking around their website and I swear a giant pop up came up that said "Don't Be Salty". I cannot figure out how to get it back but if I do I'll post the screenshot as evidence.
  25. It's already one of the most epic threads of the year. Holiday Inn. Thanks, can't wait to watch some foosball.
