  1. make your own assessment at your own risk.
  2. Boulder trail has a dusting of snow on it. Dont count on that for the weekend. They seem to be blowing on love and around the triple lift, but at this point there is alot of open ground between the lift and the trail. Freedom should be deep though. Is either bell or hunter opening with more than one trail? I mean, i want to go skiing and all, but is the drive really going to be worth it? I mean 5 hr drive X 1 trail \ 800 people doesnt compute on my abacus.
  3. From this side of the internet, it definitely appears as though Blue is putting on a snowmaking display. Its very impressive. The cams at BB suck, so its really hard to get a grip on whats going on there, but it looks like the minor leagues of snowmaking. Although, i did see a picture of lots of snow on Freedom. Hopefully temps will trend down a bit for Sun-wed.
  4. For as many years as BB is "open" black Friday, there is an equal amount of years were they havent been. I put open in quotes, since "open" to BB is Freedom. you cant make a weekend of skiing Freedom. For something a bit more legit, you need to probably look at Blue's opening dates. Normally Frost opens a good two weeks after BB. Anyone remember the year Camelback "opened" with skiing on the tubing hill?
  5. So, i am kinda suprised at this....they are blowing at frost. I felt like they would really hit Boulder hard, and wait a little while for Frost.
  6. If they would go at this like Blue is, they would definitely have something open this weekend. i see some snowmaking, but the fan guns on Big Boulder arent on. at 17 degrees, and 50-60% humidity, you would think they would have more on.
  7. im pretty sure they are using fan guns only. Last year i didnt see any air/water guns at Boulder. And, if you look at the photo above, doesnt it look like about only 4 of the nozzles on that fan gun are working? i think they forgot to turn their shit on last night.
  8. The person that does their social media has an office at Frost that overlooks the Park lift. Nothing is going on there. from what i can see from the cameras, theres not much to get excited about. i dont know what time they got around to turning stuff on, but it was later than Blue.
  9. from the cams i can see Love and Big Boulder have snowmaking currently. i am sure freedom is being worked on as well. looks like there are 2 days next week were they may be able to go round the clock.
  10. i think they should clear out more trees, and leave the parking lot alone. Different strokes for different folks.
  11. The only place it even makes sense to put in a high speed is over at the Park. that lift usually sees most of the traffic. i rarely use that lift, so no benefit for me. And really, lets face it, a high speed lift at Frost isnt gonna happen. Kinda why i dont mind that there isnt a high speed lift there.

Hook up with Schif, he can give you a good tour of Montage. I really like Montage as a alternate to break up what can become mundane at JF. And Frost really doesnt care about where you ski in the woods at all. Its almost encouraged, i stopped to chat with some patrolers in between the E glade and the Elevator, and they were trying to come up with a line to ski from there to Floyds, straight through the woods. i thought that was pretty cool.
  13. Saw a little activity at BB this morning on the cams...couple lights on, vehicles moving around, but other than that, i dont think much else happened.
  14. i would shy away from Gore, unless everyone is really on board with just going there to ski. Lodging options might be a little better then Bell, but still its rural mountainous New York. where we stayed the sidewalks got rolled up really early. Food options were really limited within close proximity. Couldnt even find a Sizzler.
  15. took that right from the Jack Frost Handbook. I think there are 10 named trails on east mountain.
  16. leaves are done falling at my place in the Poconos. i knew i should have taken a picture for Ridede.
  17. seems to be the going rate if you are not purchasing equipment from them. Alpina by JF is the same.
  18. That is correct. unfortunately i have to use BB as a stepping stone to Jf early season. So, yeah, probably 80% of their early season ticket sales are for people into park. That number is probably less the first few days with people wanting to just get out at the start of the season.
  19. 2 days i think gets freedom open. i really wish that they would reconsider just blasting that one stupid trail. we all know they are just doing it to say they are the first to open, but if anyone recalls, last year they opened with that trail, but lacked opening anything else the following weekend. Blue actually opened with something somewhat legit while they were still patting themselves on the back for getting freedom open.
  20. so, take it for what its worth, but lots of people saying we get pretty cold next week. Does it stick around? Are they "ready to blow"? Can BIg Boulder open the tilted tabletop known as freedom by Saturday the 22nd? Is the new fry oil ready to go? Are there any detours RideDE might need to know about? 21. i skied stowe and sugarbush last year. Castlerock is really what i remember about that trip as being tops. Conditions were better at Sugarbush, not awesome at Stowe, but i am sure castlerock can be icy east coast death at times too.
  22. Winner, winner, fried food dinner.
  23. they own the land at jfbb. that happened 2-3 yrs ago. I believe wildcat is forestry land, so no hopes of expansion there, but they did do quite an upgrade to the snowmaking system. Another really well thought out post by you. Do you really think any of the items you listed there will have a good return on their investment? There are so many more things they could do to increase revenue before just throwing money at the place. i kinda think that whole park thing is on a downhill slide somewhat, but thats just my opinion. It would be interesting to see volume from like 2008-2011 vs. last year.
