  1. conditions were really nice today, as i was somewhat put off by saturdays less than stellar conditions, imo. Either they blew snow all over the mountain, or there was a nice burst of snow last night. really nice powder to be found on the mountain. Challenge was closed due to some racing type event, so i didnt get a chance to run down challenge glade at all. Headed over to east mt. to make a few runs before meeting up with PA Ridge Racer. i was plesently suprised as to how much powder was spread throughout the trails. the elevator really had some nice deep powder in it on the right side. i think the wind was blowing enough to deposit it nicely there. skiers right on the elevator is really nice, lots of powder, but you can still find a few rocks mixed in. in between e-glade and elevator is coming around too, a little more snow and it will be prime. since challenge was closed i headed over to one park glade, where they were setting up so ropes to close one park off also, for some type of competition. i managed a few runs down through there before i met up with PA Ridge Racer. One park glade had alot of nice fresh in it, with a feew spots scraped off. met up with PA Ridge Racer as they were putting up the rope to close off one park. we headed over to east mountain to ride the elevator. we stopped to check out risk it, but it looks pretty dicey....kinda just one way down since there are a lot of snow boulders pushed in there. got in about 8 runs or so with Dom and called it quits at about 1 pm. Good snow day. 2 elevator shots of Dom under really cloudy skies. JAHHDIP
  2. tomorrow will be nice for sure.
  3. i pulled into an empty parking this morning at frost, much to my suprise. turns out it was empty because i keep forgetting they open at 9 am on weekdays. anyways, just before 9 am i headed down challange glade which was very nice with i guess about 3" of new snow. made my way over to East Mt, where i was the first one to enjoy the elvator glade and elevator. elevator was nice and powdery on top of some fresh man made snow. it would appear as though the slope got some snow blown on it, but the run out at the bottom is still real sketchy. i really only had to share the slopes with about 10 other people up until about 10 am, when it started getting a little more crowded. i rode the elevator a couple times before heading over to one park glade, where i found a nice pile of rocks traversing in between slopes. i guess we had a little meltdown over the past weekend. one park glade continues to be a one of the less skied tree runs, and it still had lots of untracked powder in it, unlike challange that got skied off pretty quick. back over to East for a few runs, where both lifts were spinning, which is an indication things are getting crowded, since they dont run both lifts together very often. the slopes on east mt where getting pretty congested, i made another few runs down the elevator and rolled at about 11:45. a few crappy cell phone pics. elevator glade challenge glade this is the snow gun fluffy made reference to a few post back. i applaude them for going to the great lengths to get this moved and set up here, but unless they are commited to this for a few more nights, im not sure i get it. this is below what i think is called little cliff huck, under the east mt lift. you can come down from challenge glade, (which seems to be where they concentrated making snow) then cross under the lift, onto this little trail, which i think is little cliff huck, but it really should be called "filled with lots of rocks". they may have been trying to fill in challenge glade, more so than make under the lift/little cliff huck skiable. its just a little odd to me, thats all. personally, i would rather see that fan gun parked at the base of the elevator. all and all it was a great morning, its kinda just ashame that today of all days had to be the most crowded day of the year.
  4. i'm going for first thing in the am, until it gets to crazy. last time it didnt get really bad until about 11:30.
  5. correct. eagles jackets, jeans, camo....it can be somewhat entertaining until the slopes are just littered with people.
  6. i think boulder will be ok friday, i dont think this is a big ski at Frost then head to Boulder type of crowd. more like ski at Frost then get drunk at the bar. i am hoping the weather will keep some people from making the journey.
  7. any snow is good snow. i will take 2 inches of snow over 0 inches of snow anyday. right now it looks like LV and north will see the most out of this little storm. which is good, because i cant think of one good place to ski in cape may. what a waste for all that snow to be deposited on a beach. there may be a god....lots of talk like January will be cold, and favorable for snow. Hurricane schwartz has revised his "winter outlook" for what its worth.
  8. first year instructor, and you are at Frost?....them's could be fightin' words.....lol
  9. i think the first MMR day is more crowded, at the cardboard classic the slopes are usually baron of camo, but parking is a zoo. i may ski frost first thing Friday, if i drive up thursday night. kinda depends on the "winter weather" coming.
  10. WMMR's day off on the slopes is friday. kinda gives new meaning to the word crowded and gaper-ish.
  11. next week tues-wed could be interesting as well. hopefully friday leaves us with something.
  12. nice....thanks for the update. should be another great weekend.
  13. turns out i dont have one of the supported blueberries. which is a bummer, cause this looks pretty neat. my phone is borderline archaic.
  14. mom always said good grooming is important. glad to hear it wasnt a sheet of ice after the warm-up this weekend..
  15. i hope so, but i thought temps were going to be on the mild side for the next week or so. it's skiable, todays temps made it a little softer, but the botoom can be an issue.
  16. run of the day was one park glade. Challenge glade was nice too. Dom on the baller route down the elevator. good snow day.
  17. whats up with the elevator? it looks like it has red-headed step child syndrome.....lol
  18. Got the troops moving early and made it to Big Boulder about 8 am. empty parking lot, empty slpoes. real nice conditions all morning, we left at about 12:15. lift lines were starting to form. Big Boulder slope did not have any features on it, but it looked like love park was loaded with stuff. Parking lot was full when we left.
  19. Guido said "they would be over shortly" a few days ago.
  20. Frosty, Janes lane and Lehigh were all in great shape today as well. got there about 10:30, the line for the ticket window at the circle was out to the road. really crowded. good snow.
