  1. Sweet. Future skiers are always a good thing. Get'em back out as soon as you can. Both mine stated at 6 and 8 in skiwee at Shawnee and are now high level race development program at 11 and 13 waiting for dad to give the go ahead to go travel team race. Both are great skiers and watching them tear it up on Sunday made me very proud. They now ski everything with me and the family weak link is my wife.
  2. ....hmm snow herbs...it's almost ski season.
  3. The shop I'm at ..we don't let the kids near the machines. All tuning is done by guys with years of experience. And when we train a kid he's not left alone tuning for quite some time. Learn to do basic edging and waxing yourself. A base grind is good for a while. I only base grind my skis when it's absolutly required. Also we use manufactures recommened bevel angles. If someone wants something different it can be done. Seasonal tunes are the way to go if you are just that stoned.
  4. Last couple years it's begining to look and feel like it too. If I was closer to Blue I'd prolly have a pass there. Shawnee is about 7 minutes from my place and Camelback about 17 minutes and working at one of the shops gets me a full bivvy pass at the crack for a buc thirtry. Can't pass that up.
  5. nah we don't need a skioff but a drink off....LET'S DO IT!!! I ski the weekends at Shawnee and midweek at the crack. No need to deal with zoo on the weekends. And once again comparing pocono ski areas it's sorta rain manish.
  6. Dude that's like comparing handicap ramps. You guys used to ski on half that mountain and park at the top.
  7. Yes there are locals and no we don't ski on weekends and obviously we were not around when you guys came to play. There will be no "outskiing" of Camelback locals at Camelback. Nuf Sed.
  8. Every shop has a guy who fits boots "a little better than the rest". Find that guy and make a midweek appointment. Don't think on a Saturday you will get a quality boot fit. It takes time to put shit on, get it to body temp, flex or dance or whatever it is one does to get that proper feeling. I've fit boots for a long time and to get it right requires a couple hours. Foot beds add some more time.
  9. Man this thread was like road rage straight to the bong.....holy shit. First time reading this entire thread.lol
  10. The area needs a shit ton of work. Chairs are old, snowmaking system is old, bridge to get over the creek is old not to mention the right of way to Timber Trails. Yes it was the first area to let us ride, yes it's great for familys and begginers and yes it would make on kick ass park. Hope it stays open.
  11. seems to work out for Cameland

    Binding advice

I must be a very very smooth skier to run them at an 8 and don't come out. To be honest I haven't seen a binding I liked in years. Easy on the shop guys around the mountains most of us have been around a long while.

    Binding advice

From the shop guy.....they're all good. A binding company wouldn't make it in this market if they were crap. I ski Marker Jesters. Solid binding a bit heavy but so am I. Keep the din minimum of a 12. The more cash the nicer the binding.
  14. holy shit Art must have won the lotto. I mean how much can the guy extend....new hotel and water park at Camelback and now this? Hang on CBK pass holders this could hurt.I will say Camelback has a decent business plan but at what cost to both mountains pass holders. While conditions are usually good on the mountain the opportunity to make extra cash on folks is ever present. My 2 cents. the mountain will be better run operations wise.It will come with a cost.
  15. Thanks. Great info.I did plan a day at the Loaf as well. We did Sunday River last year and it was great right up till the weekend. Then it turned in to a Walmart.I asked the locals last year where everybody skied and Saddleback was the first name I would hear. And the price was way affordable.
  16. I'm a week out from our annual family ski vacation. It was my turn to pick the mountain and this place just looks like what I'm after. Glades, steeps, snow, small resort atmopshere, family friendly and way to cheap. We're up for the week right after Presidents week. Ski in ski out. Should be a good time. So who's been to Saddleback and Rangeley. Where to go,food, hidden glade areas? Is the walk to the top for the fields worth it?I'll make the trek anyway..... I have a good feeling about Saddlback. Sure hope it's worth the drive.
  17. Mmmm....Tecumseh still not groomed.....so nice. Sweet couple days. Sloppy snow, lots of sunshine and the place to myself. For tomorrow anyway. Mountain is in awesome shape. Holding snow really well. See what the weekend brings. I'm hopeful things will get turned up on Tecumseh and they dust it in a day or two. Be nice to have to have spring bumps. So nice.
  18. Update.... NIck and Co. have decided to let Tecumseh bump up. Done grooming it for the season. Was the only thing left untouched today and was sweet all day. Looks like the VW's may make a return. Sweet.
