  1. Got that from a pretty reliable source who works up there.
  2. Word on the street is Camelback will be charging everyone for parking this coming season. Not sure if this legit or not but what the fuck. $10 a car from what I understand. Supposedly contracted out a company to come in and park cars. They'll need to pass that expense along. See you boys at Blue this coming season.
  3. New trail is alright. Its tough to run it the way it designed. To many people. It also fucked up the left line on the rocket. Herb station. The trail should have been directly under the chair, that's the line that would have been sweet. The new trail is designed to be run like a x course. When you can get it with no bodies in the way its fun and that doesn't happen very often an empty trail at cbk.
  4. Important thing is he was out there with you.... My wife is a strong level 2 and that's all she aspires to be. She's a cruiser kinda' gal and it just kills the kids to have to pop out of the woods or off the steeps to take some cruiser runs with mom. lol ....important thing is she's out there.
  5. They'll pull it off. Just was a little taken back at what I saw that wasn't happening. Then I sit and realize it's two chairs and you can pretty much see the top from the bottom. lol

Raced 7 when I was younger. Toured most of the state in my teens and 20's. I live on the east side so I ski on the east side, and let's be honest if you're gonna' drive more then 2.5 hours is it gonna' be to Seven Springs or the knob. Sure there's stuff that has some pitch out there...for about 300 vert. Not sure that's gonna' make me sweat it. I can hike more shit locally in the woods that'll pucker me up. Just sayin'.
  7. No. Chairs are still lying in wait of inspection. I saw no guns out around the base. The lodge was no where near complete. It's a project to say the least. Oh and the "new" bridge is the old structure with new side rails.
  8. ....then there's that one day when you're kids our as good as you.
  9. Man I was over there last week dropping off their new/used ski grinder. Holy shit there's a pile of work left to do. If they're ready by Christmas it'll be short of a miracle. But somehow as with most ski areas they'll pull it off.
  10. Pennsylvania and Little Cloud will be open. Don't kid yourself it doesn't take long to pack traffic on just two trails. If it gets busy and I have this feeling it might, it could be a real shit show. Then again it is early and typically in past years the Thanksgiving weekend crowd is mild. Sure wish they had more open for ya'. The kids will have a blast. You're gonna' be like WTF? Best news of the season is the downstairs bar now takes plastic. Sweet. As far as the stashes....well you're gonna' have to come back and get a guided tour. If I post'em on line they won't be stashes anymore.lol
  11. Yes..yes there is. I like to consider it extra training.
  12. If we have snow like last season the glades policy is "be safe and try not to get hurt". Other than that ...go. Growing up skiing all these hills I still find more stashes at Shawnee then anywhere else. Have fun.

Elk is as good a hill as anything else in Pa. I wouldn't pay full pop for a ticket...then again I wouldn't pay full pop for a ticket anywhere in Pa. With that said you can find the occasional $20 day at Elk which makes the trip worth it.
  14. Man I am just to greedy and to selfish to stop and take pics. Looks like an epic day. Stoked me up, I'll be at Saddleback this time next week. I'm so pumped. Thanks for the primer.
  15. I'll used fixed grip chairs when it gets a bit stupid. Man what time did you guys get there? I know things will get busy but it's still nothing like CBK. And yeah 63% of ticket buyers never leave the rental hill. Be happy they weren't out there with ya'.
  16. Call the Loft. Ask for rentals. They handle the consignment rack. Stuff rolls in and out fast. Good stuff is gone in a day or two. Really good stuff the staff snaps up. Tell those guys what you want. Make sure you offer up at least a six pack and they'll find you something nice. Boots were thin. If you can squeeze into a 26.5 there was some nice stuff in the 40-100 dollar range. Might have been a pair or two of 27's. Lots of race skis in the racks. Couple older free skis. I know one pair of twins for 300. Pretty dam fresh still. Dude works there. He can be bribed down.
  17. Great thread. Here's a thought, something I see more and more everyday is people coming back to skiing. Not so much that the number of snowboarders is declining but the number of initial boarders say from like the mid 80's through the late 90's are retuning to skis from boards and free heel. I started riding in '86 only because you can only ski down Marjies so many times in a before you're bored as fuck. In comes snowboarding. It was cool and it was new and in a short time with some effort you could ride the entire mountain. And powder? Shit boards floated skis did not. Out goes the skis in comes the boards. Back in '86 there was very little known about boarding and very little equipment to be had. My first boots were Sorrels with as a Nordica 980 liner stuffed in them . Duct tape that up and you were good for the day. My first pair of board specific boots were Jack's boots mailed ordered in from Co. Skis just couldn't carve like a board especially if you were on a hard boot and plate set up. The Euro's had that shit dialed in. Didn't touch skis again. Fast forward....I guess what, '99' I laid eyes on a dude on skis carving it up like a board. Elan parabolics. Eye opener. Looked super fun and it was a ski. Boarding was fun but now I could traverse and get around a big mountain again a lot fuckin' easier. So long board. Today I have 3 skis in my quiver and 2 boards. I ride maybe 4 days a year. The short of it...I see lots of folks I've been on the hill with for 30 years. Tele, boarding even gay blades, the one thing I have noticed over the last 4-5 years is the large return to skis. Full circle. Now a board will last me 10 years due to lack of use as to where shit I'd burn through at least a board a season maybe 2 if it was a shitty snow year. Skis I pick up new pair every other year just to keep the collection fresh. Then there's my kids.....
  18. I prefer Elks terrain over cb's and the fact that there are real skiers at Elk helps preserve conditions all day.
  19. Prolly cause Chucky B is so busy answering the rest of the pissed off e-mails he's received lately. That place just keeps getting more and more fucked up by the day.
  20. Man I've run a lot of different waxes in lots of different conditions/situations and IMO unless you're a high level racer and trying to shave tenths of a second.... If you're an all-mountain skier on all-mountain boards in all-mountain conditions, use a universal wax. The most important thing is to keep the sticks waxed. Sure there are literally hundreds of variations to be had including rub on types. I have access to several different types and temp ranges and unless it's super cold I'll iron in universal. They glide just fine for me.
  21. 203 Rossi 4m's best bump ski ever.
  22. Being an old fuck I skied most of my spring that season at Hunter on some truly VW sized bumps and possibly the best bump lines I've ever seen down Eisenhower and Racers. LOL I remember my girl waking me up because I was still skiing bumps in my sleep. Awesome season. I also remember sitting in the Killington parking lot waiting for peak to open on October 1 many years running. 15 buc lift tickets and every world class bump skier around pounding bumps and loading at mid-station on the old double all day. God dam I miss the fluorescent.
