  1. I use the FART method: 1) fall a lot 2) attempt again 3) rowdy fun 4) tits (skiing is the tits)
  2. Many folding picnic tables will be saved in the future!
  3. We're thinking about it. Trying to figure out how much she thinks she'll actually ski. My plan is to do one weekend day with the fam and one solo.
  4. Emailed someone in the sales office today, and they confirmed that they will be doing the monthly payment plan again, beginning 4/1. Since I might be doing the whole family (except my son who is still free), it'll be nice to spread the cost over 7 or so months.
  5. "Letting the dogs out" and "feeding the fish"Is what I call taking a dump too! Only in Vermont. My wife buys fancy kashi cereal that I eat.
  6. That's what I was thinking! I give myself 30 minutes, but I eat breakfast, have a cup of coffee and take a poo in that time.
  7. Do kids under 46" seriously ski free there? Both mine are well under 46"
  8. Status in doubt. Mother in law is in the hospital so I'll probably miss this weekend. Next weekend my wife has a bachelorette party and I have to watch the kids, so unless I can get some nights in my season might be over unless blue rallies and stays open past next weekend. So bummed.
  9. Next thing you know, there's gonna be no tree skiing at elk. Oh wait, never mind.

I liked the Chams so much I'm thinking about getting some, but I want to try the 107's first. Also, I demoed 178's which were fine, but would be curious to try the 184's also. They were good in chop, pretty easy to swing around in bumps, although I'm not a great mogul skier. I could confidently ski them on steeps and they were good not great on groomers. I'm not very technically sound (definitely not level 3), so actual good skiers might have different impressions. Everyone I talked too, though, seemed to think they were a pretty bad ass ski for what that's worth.

OK kids, this is why you wear a helmet. Video of me trying to scope out freshies but ending up falling down a rocky cliff and removing vegetation from a hillside. If you listen closely you can hear me say "oh boy i'm in deep shit" lol. I'll post some other videos at some point later. https://vimeo.com/156980694

I'm tired of making words but day 5 of 5 I got after it. 2 ridge hikes - 1 west basin, 1 highline. Finally found my way into Corner Chute from the kitchen wall. Skied a couple of really long bump runs, since it was spring conditions too. Finished the day by grabbing the kids from ski school and taking them up the Al's run lift and doing a 1600 vert green run to the bottom. Highline ridge scenes Looking southeast from T-Bird high atop west basin ridge. Found a sweetie of a natural halfpipe that I had never discovered before. Tomorrow I'll try to make some time to post some vids.

I'm sure I sound like a broken record with my happy reports, but today was great again! I actually decided to demo some Cham 97's because I have been skiing a lot of bumps, chutes and trees, and since most of the powder is skied off, the moments were a little more work than I liked. It proved to be a good decision. Skied a couple easy runs to feel out the new boards, then hiked up to west basin. I traversed all the way around, then sidestepped uphill about 100 yards and dropped into the Wild West glade, which is a newly glades area along the westernmost boundary of the ski area. It was so quiet in there due to the weed out factor of the hike/traverse/sidestep. Still some fresh in there too. Skied Jeans Glade later which is super steep off the frontside. In the afternoon, I played in the trees on the backside, then did 2 laps on kachina Main Street. Finished my day on Totally Wiard chute in hunziker. Was a beautiful sunny day. To top it off, my kids did awesome in their lessons which made me feel great. Wild West Jean's View at lunch Looking up chair 1 (Al's) Secenery

Sorry didn't see this. If you're looking for slope side, you could try the alpine village suites. I prefer in town since it's an easy drive though. I've stayed at the Wyndham world mark and kachina lodge recently. Kachina lodge was super cheap and kind of run down but not terrible. There's the snow mansion hostel in arroyo seco. The sagebrush inn is popular but I've never stayed there. Mountain knowledge I could go on forever, but try all the steeps off of lift 2. Hike both ridges. Don't overlook the "Bambi ridge" where you can find sir Arnold Lynn, the Bambi chutes and Lorelei. Also the what chutes if you're into crazy shit. Go into hunziker bowl, but keep traversing even beyond where it seems like it makes sense and go into high noon bowl and el Funko. If the snows good you'll be rewarded. Don't miss longhorn and North American if it's open. If you ski longhorn tell anybody bragging about Al's run that they are a pussy. Much longer and steeper.

Today was a beautiful sunny day with still some fresh snow. Kachina lift opened at 9:30 and I was probably the 5th person up. Storm totals were not enough to completely refresh everything up there, but there was nice powder in between enormous bumps. Interesting. Hit kachina 4 (I think), blitz trees off of west basin, hunziker bowl again, Lorelei trees, Japanese flag glade, walkyries glade, and many others. Skied a lot of trees today. Skied harder from bell to bell than I have in a while. I'm sunburned as fuck too. Yesterday was a good warmup, today was great. Didn't need to hike for any fresh. They only reported 3 inches, but I would say 6-8 up high. Hunziker bowl to high noon to El Funko was the run of the day. The entrance to El Funko was downright scary, but the snow was sweet in there. I had a scary moment when I got cliffed out where I didn't realize there was one, proceeded to attempt a jump turn to the only safe place, fell, broke a sapling in half and fell over the cliff I was trying to avoid. Landed in soft powder, but had to hike about 50 yards uphill to retrieve a ski. I'm ok, just a big gash on my leg, and a tiny cut on my face. Still got all my teefers. Go pro footage of this is gonna be funny. Beer o clock!!

Today through Friday, maybe Saturday on the slopes. Heading up shortly. Today will be hard pack, but snow moving in tonight which is badly needed. Wednesday by all forecasts looks to be a classic Taos day of intense sunshine and pow. Do my best to keep it interesting with pics. Computer situation is iffy so vids might be when I get home.
  22. Nothing compares to a good BM. Oh wait never mind.
