    Boot Fitters

Yeah generally I would always shell size for the smaller foot and tweak the other boot to fit the bigger foot. Way easier to make a boot bigger than smaller, within reason. Some high density foam rubber pads can probably take up some of the space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Boot Fitters

who knows what the ski shop scene looks like next year, but i trust adam at buckmans in whitehall. not sure how frequently he works though, since it's not his full time job. tyler in ardmore is great, but i'm 99.9% sure he won't be working at the shop next year. i'd love to get my hands back into the bootfitting game but i don't have the time for a part time job right now. first step would be getting an aftermarket footbed in your boot if you don't already have one. even a set of superfeet will be much, much better than whatever came stock in your boot.
  3. the valley is a bagel-starved place. i knew nothing but prepacked sleeves of bagels growing up. there's a place in margate (two locations, actually) called "Hot Bagels" that makes a bangin jalapeno bagel with horseradish cheddar cream cheese spread.
  4. Sounds like you've got your tools in order. In my experience, tap is not 100% necessary, but it makes the job easier if you have it, and less likely to run into problems. I have Look/Rossi jigs that I got from Nestors when we closed up shop. Anything other than those, and pivots on skis wider than 100mm, I've either done freehand with paper templates, or used the PX/Axial2 jig for the toe holes, and have sometimes had access to a drill press to make things a little more precise which is nice. Quiver Killer inserts were done freehand, and I definitely could have been a little more precise with the verticality of one of the holes, but it still worked fine in the end.
  5. "proper tools" is pretty open ended. I've mounted plenty of pairs of skis, and you can definitely do it yourself with a regular drill bit, a paper template, and measuring, measuring again, then measuring again to triple check. That said, it is about 10x easier if you've got a jig and a stepped or collared bit. What kinda skis and what kinda bindings? I don't really have any great photos, unfortunately, but I recently repaired a binding that stripped out of my ski. Holes were already heli-coiled, so I bought a set of Quiver Killer rescue inserts, drilled out the old crappy holes and set the inserts with 24hr epoxy. The heel piece now screws in to the inserts with machine screws, the same way a snowboard binding does.
  6. those are my neighborhood grocery stores! i live pretty much right in between the two. they're super oldschool, but they've been doing their cart bath thing for over a week now. pretty cool.
  7. I believe food and friends ("grocery store" that does sell some fresh produce, prepared meals, snacks, etc but mostly beer) is closed at the moment. I have not walked past it to find out, since as much as I'd like to support local stuff, we've been doing online ordering for pretty much everything we need. It would be awesome if our neighborhood grocery store did online ordering, but I'm pleasantly surprised when their credit card readers in the store work properly. Having one of my favorite local breweries (Wissahickon Brewing Co) do free same day delivery has made it pretty easy to not really have to go anywhere or interact with people.
  8. get up there and give us a trip report! bonus points if you strap your skis to your pack/bike and ride up.
  9. I see the religious institutions are exempt... Also, are outdoor activities strictly limited to walking, hiking, or running? I assume there's some loose interpretation around the words "such as" in this statement, but i'm curious where that line is actually drawn.
  10. what'd you skin up? looks like you're coming up the upper part of bypass/nosedive headed toward where it splits off from toll road off the quad? or do i not even have the right ski area?
  11. If anyone is in the market for a nice wheel upgrade for your bike, consider supporting Industry 9. They're offering up their machining and fabrication capabilities to help produce any parts that might be in short supply right now. Not sure who they've ended up contracting with or what they're producing at the moment though.
  12. yeah wtf is with the \? Spelling or grammar mistakes, ok I get it. But where in your life have you ever seen 24\7?!
  13. once we actually start thoroughly testing
  14. the survival time on cardboard is what is craziest to me. we've ordered way too much stuff online the past week or so and obviously everything ships in cardboard boxes that end up sitting near our back door til i take them out to the recycling bin in the alley.
  15. At this point, i'm banking on my ski season essentially being done. It's a shame, since I just got new boots which I put one day in on saturday, and new skis and touring bindings which I haven't even mounted up yet. Was supposed to be headed to CO for a few days this friday, but that's out of the question now. I still have a sliver of hope that things might calm down enough in a month or so and tuckermans could still be in play, but honestly I think even that is unlikely. Probably not the worst ski season I've had, but definitely not too near the top of the list, either. Please, for the sake of your elderly or immunocompromised friends and family, keep to yourselves, stay at home if you're sick (or even if you're not sick), and wash your damn hands.
  16. from my understanding, declaring a state of emergency opens up new avenues for funding that would not be available under normal circumstances. it also allows enacting certain measures without going through the normal checks and balances process that our government is designed around. however, those measures still need to be enacted, which i think is what toast is getting at.
  17. Kids are germ magnets. I have one too. It seems like this virus does not have quite the same adverse effects as something like the regular seasonal flu might, for whatever reason, but that doesn’t mean they can’t carry it and spread it to other people. If my daughter were in daycare or preschool right now, I would not be sending her. Bring this thread back to ski stoke. More pow, European beer, and wine; less corona! 18. Probably don’t try and go to Italy tomorrow if you’re skiing zermat. And drink more wine and beer. Alcohol kills germs, right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. looks awesome! stoked you guys got the goods!

  23. Yeah, I can’t remember them ever planning and announcing closing weekend this far out. Wonder if the chairlifts can’t make it any longer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Nope, well north of the chic chocs. Polar star couloir on baffin island. Seems like a logistical nightmare to get to, let alone time correctly for favorable conditions. I'd guess it'd have to be a late spring mission when the chance of new snow is low, but i'm not the one tackling these so what do i know. https://fatmap.com/30907/Other/ski_tour/routeid/131846/Polar_Star_Couloir_
