In practice, not really. Technically, I think you need a valid lift ticket or season pass, but since the ticket window is never open before you need to start going uphill, I always end up getting my ticket after I've done the skin lap.

Fun times yesterday! Only skied two top to bottom laps before getting the kids on the school hill, but we made it to the top!

You should probably look into closing dates before deciding. If it's a long weekend before you start the new job, stowe very well might not be open then. Same deal with any of the places out west due to potential forest service leases and/or animal migrations. Spring skiing is awesome, but conditions might also be complete trash. New Orleans is a super fun city, NCAA tournament aside. Happy to give recs if that's the route you go. I've been many times due to family there, but I won't pollute this thread til you say you want the info hah

Sure. It's after all the holidays. What you're not accounting for is flexibility. With a pass, if I decide I want to ski tomorrow, I can, and I don't have to factor in how much it'll cost me. The pass is a sunk cost that I paid last April. I've got my money's worth out of it fourfold based on the fact that a weekend ticket usually hovers around $100, and that's when I usually get to ski.

If my childcare situation wasn't what it is to make blue as convenient as it is for me, the big price increase for blue vs an epic pass would be a lot harder to swallow for two passes

As others have said, the forward pressure difference of 1mm should be a non-issue. RE: toe adjustment, you'll only have to deal with that for salomon driver-style (S/STH bindings) or shift bindings. As far as I can remember, there aren't any other alpine bindings on the market that have any sort of toe adjustment. Happy to check em out for ya if you've got em by this weekend and we cross paths.

haha yup. took the kid on paradise for the first time two weeks ago and it took us about 45 minutes top to bottom. she only fell twice though!

Blue used to do 7:30 opening on weekends, but that had to be like ~10 years ago now. I'm sure @GrilledSteezeSandwich and pepperridge farm remember. 7:30 for passholders, 8:00 for regular day tickets at blue would be pretty great.

Keep your rental receipt and make sure the airline reimburses you. I had the same thing happen to me once in Utah. That was the last time I flew with my boots in a checked bag.

False. Those bindings are not easy to adjust at all. You have to remove the decking screws used to attach the bindings to the foot, move the bails, then hope you get them back in the old holes correctly so they don't strip out. Requires at least two beers before such a complicated procedure can be attempted in the parking lot.

Good call not skiing weekends. The time if year you're going, be prepared for anything, weather-wise. Could be sunny and 50°, could be 20° and nuking, could be 30° and pissing rain. Been a few years since I was there, but there's obviously tons of good stuff there. 7th Heaven is probably some of my favorite terrain there, because I do love some loosely spaced, tree'd up meadow skipping. Staying right by the blackcomb gondola should slightly shelter you from the crowds in the village, maybe... obviously any of the bowls are gonna have fun stuff, go where the snow is, etc. I'll probably catch some flak for it, but do peak to creek (if conditions are not prime up top), if for nothing other than the fact that it's an absurdly long top to bottom run. On the food/drink side, you can't go wrong with Sushi Village. Midweek, happy hour specials, sake margaritas... many nights have gone blurry there by the time the check came. El furny is good for the typical "local" rowdy ski town vibe, as much as anything in whistler can really have a local vibe at this point, and the food is good and not terribly expensive for where you are. GLC or Longhorn are some of my favorites for apres, especially GLC since you can literally ski to your barstool if the snow's good. As much as I have fond memories of being a poor college student trying to piece together the cheapest meal possible from the supermarket in the village so i could spend more money on booze, if you've got a car at your disposal, stop for groceries and beers before you get in to whistler. You'll save yourself lots of money, and the beer selection in vancouver or squamish is better. If you're renting a car and there's snow in the forecast, stop at whatever the local canadian walmart/target equivalent and buy some chains or cables. Sea to sky has a mandatory chain up section if it's snowing, so you don't wanna be stuck on your drive up if you luck out with good snow. Worst case scenario, you eat the cost of the chains (or return them if unused), best case you use em and get fresh tracks the next day. Edit: here's the ice cave!

They are completely fine to take out on Lange RX boots. Each bolt contributes to approximately a 10 on their flex rating, e.g. remove one bolt on a RX130 and your down to 120, etc. people remove them for various reasons, and contrary to [mention=2]atomicskier[/mention]’s comment, you can in fact remove them with little downside, if softening the flex of the boot is your goal. This may not apply to any other boot on the market, I dunno, but I’ve been in langes almost exclusively for 20 years, so I can vouch for what happens in their boots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
