  1. The one park crew guy on Friday said that it was mostly cat work that had to be done, and the groomer wasn't there that day. Idk how much truth was in that, but that's what we were told. I really liked the looks of that rainbow box, and right as I was about to pull out the sticks I checked if it wobbled, and sure enough it was REALLY shaky. The S box was smooth, until I almost died on it a few times towards the end, so I just gave up. It was awesome how pieces of trees were sticking out of the halfpipe though. That little gap jump was fun, but they should make BIG jumps like that, so if you don't make it you die. C box was good also, and the little flat-down. The wide up flat was pretty fun also. Double barrel down rail was a little too steep in my opinion.
  2. If they're not using all the other jibs, they should set up some of the better ones on Snowdrift towards the bottom where it meets into Boulder Park. Then they could even put a little quarterpipe/log stall thing right where that "banked turn" thing is with all the orange/yellow lolipop signs.
  3. Same here...we were up there for a while the one day, and I didn't see anyone else hit it either. I wonder how many people actually transferred the thing while it was there? I went left to right since I got more speed because of the shade from the pine trees.
  4. If they keep the majority of the snow piled into jumps, would it ever be a possibility of opening that lift for the May day rail jam and having a narrow top to bottom run? I mean, if it gets colder again the beginning of April like they're saying, it don't seem out of the question. For boulder park, I'm sure it'll be sick. Def a reason for me to get up there at least once more.
  5. The races can be really fun to watch though. We went up the one year before I was really into snowboarding, and I got footage of the whole race. They brought out the groomers and made a huge lip on the last jump before the semi-pros or whatever came out, and they were flying like 20ft up and about 65ft distance. One guy landed right on top of another guy, and I had a runaway sled coming at me during one point. I believe it's just a one day event, but I could be wrong. You can also enter a drawing to win a brand new like 7grand sled.
  6. Jumps: Boulder Park (especially transferring the channel gap) Blue's Jumps (2nd one) Other: Wallride at BB when it was at the bottom of Boulder Park (midnight madness #2) Smooth Flat-Down at BB Battleship box at BB and honestly, I like the C box at blue...it's smooth, even if I can only get like 80ish% of it most of the time. Oh yeah, mailboxes are fun too
  7. Yea, my bad. I saw that the pipe was open on the conditions page, but when I was up there today I didn't see anything resembling a pipe, or a boarder-x course. But still, everhything up there was amazing. Oh, and don't ask why, but one of the top guys working at Boulder named Josh....he's a huge D1(k.
  8. I also had a great time at Jack Frost from 9:03am up until around 3:00pm. Snow was amazing, so nice. The little bit of snow caused the features in the park to be slightly covered, but park crew was out there fixing it up right away. I really like the hips there, and the banked turns. Tons of places to get fresh tracks, and if you hit the right spots you could float over the surface without feeling the packed hard snow underneath. Great day!
  9. Well, Boulder is listed as being 100% OPEN! Pipe and everything. Anyone been up there to see it yet? I'll be at Frost around 8:30 tomorrow, then head over to BB later in the day, maybe get there right at like 2:50 and get first run down the pipe for the day.
  10. Awesome park setup. Boulder Park was AWESOME. Loved the jumps. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to hit all them, but then I got a good flow going off the first one and went through the next two. That last one boots you up so extremely high...probably the highest I've been ever. The wallrides were alright, but the snow up to them was beat so I couldn't get up and over like I wanted to. I also really liked the rails in Widow park. It was a really fun night, and I'm happy my dad already volunteered to take us up to the next one. Edit: Does anyone know the exact measurements of thoses jumps?
  11. Leaving in like 40mins. If you see me yell "yo nifty-shifty", I'll be wearing my white sessions coat, tan pants, helmet, and orange bindings. Whoever goes, HAVE FUN!
  12. Well, I went up with Ski Club yesterday. Got there around 12:00, left at 5:45. To me, the conditions were sweet up top. I have no clue what trail it was, but the one had like ledges up on the right hand side, and they were so fun to hop up and butter and stuff. The park wasn't as beat as usual, but the landings on some of the rails were getting rutted, especially the Flat-down box. I liked the flat boxes though (but too short), and the jump was a nice one to learn spins on. Almost had a 5 (sorta on accident though ). The snow felt like day old natural packed powder. I had fun...except the lift lines to the quad were rediculosly long. Hopefully they can get the other side opened up for next week, and with these cold temps coming it sure looks possible.
  13. Dial-Up internet sucks. Same thing happens to me, I have 49.2Kbps. Webcam works fine though, just gotta click around the black screen till you find the link. I could write an essay of how I hate dial-up, but I'll stop before I start.
  14. 5 hours will get you quite a bit of snow, but over a big area. If they wanted, they could have put a bunch of guns in one spot at the top of a closed run and just make a huge whale to last through the weekend, and then groom it out next week. Not sure why they turned the guns off...
  15. I'll be there. How are tickets going to work? If you ride during the day, do you have to buy another ticket at night for the 9-3, and yet another one for the next day?
  16. Pretty much what has been said already. Most air for your money probably. Some people had minor problems, but called them up and the part they needed was shipped out right away. You should be able to get a couple solid seasons in before you need to replace anything(except oil of course).
  17. Hopefully they can recover for next weekend, since BB is supposed to be holding the Midnight Madness... Should be crazy, especially if they can keep Boulder Park open with a few huge hits.
  18. Has anyone been up recently? Will they make it through this weekend? I know there are only 3 trails open, but they posted info about Sunday skiing on their website, so it seems like they're going to make it. Anyone know?
  19. I'm not going to lie...I did see a few people go inverted off that "jump" at Blue Mountain this year. But...Boulder has WAY better quality jumps, and I'm sure they're just going to keep getting better.
  20. Yea I have no idea where mine is from opening day...fresh wicket too. Just make sure you rub it together inside the wicket, not just around the outside, I haven't had any problems since.
  21. Last time I was there, it must have been around 8:00pm and I was flying down to hit the first jump. Skier on far right looks back and sees me coming...I figure good, he saw me. What does he do? Continue down the trail, cut left DIRECTLY across the landing of the jump at the same exact time I'm going off the jump. By the time I'm ready to land, he is dead center in the landing, just watching me come through the air. I landed right on the tip of his skis, probably on the front of the bindings too...he was that close. Luckily neither one of us fell, but it could have been bad had I been going any slower, or him faster.
  22. Yea, but if you make it too small, trying to move all the snow off of a dirt mound and then moving the frozen dirt mound might make quite a mess in the snow. The wood frame seems like an alright idea, but I'd rather have all snow.
  23. It seems almosts every day there becomes another good reason for me to want to return to Big Boulder. I was there 3x already, and not I have 2 passes, so I'll be up there next weekend probably. Can't wait to see what they have up by then, assuming they get 2 or 3 nights of snowmaking to recover from the rain/temps.
  24. Accuweather is a complete joke as far as their 15 day forecast goes...every day I check it shows something completely different. Yesterday they were showing a steep dropoff of temps around day 9, and now the temperature line looks like someone hand drew it while having a seizure. Up down up down, but never any steady cold, and not even that cold for short periods of time. I'm really sick of this weather, especially since I'm a home snowmaker. I want to make snow in my yard, I've spent quite a bit of money building a new snowmaker, and no weather in sight to get any use out of it. PLEASE...WINTER IS HERE, GET COLD!
  25. I was about to start this thread yesterday, then I had to go somewhere and I forget when I came home. Really curious as to how Shawnee is doing with this weather.
