It's been so windy in the mountains all week. They said it would die down today. Just checked weather at Eldora and still expecting 35mph sustained winds most of the day. They clocked gusting winds of 86mph west of Boulder already this morning. Guess I am waiting till Friday with the rest of the crowds. On the plus side mountains got another foot of snow this wk

You are hard core. Dont think I ever did a day trip to JFBB before from Cape May county.

Beautiful day at Winter Park with light crowds. Was pretty cold so i only took my gloves off once.
-
Thats exactly why I didn't head up this weekend.

Check out Johnny Seesaw's for dinner when you are in the area. Great food and a huge fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. I have never had a bad meal there.

I took my kids to Bromley one year. They were pretty young so we didn't explore much if the mountain. From what I remember most of the trails end at the same place at the main lift from the base. Pretty impossible go get lost, so great if you have to keep track of kids. Think they have good tree skiing as well. We liked Stratton much better. A lot more to do in the village, longer runs, more variety.

The beach side isn't as bad as the bay side, although I think the bay side campsites are nicer.

Well shit. Winter Park was SUPPOSED to open today. I was planning on going up for the day Friday. As of this morning website says opening Saturday. WTF!

Thought I would take advantage of the beautiful close to full moon tonight and go for a hike. I was just starting to wonder how I was the only one on the trail since it was so warm and inviting out. Then I spotted another headlamp in the trail below me but quickly realized it wasn't a headlamp; they were eyes. A small bear but I thought mama bear may be nearby so I got out of there looking behind me and freaking myself out the entire way down.

Started the hike at NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) in south Boulder. Hiked the Mesa trail to Chautauqua, also in Boulder. The west side of town has a great network of trails.

Perfect hiking weather this morning.

Its $10 to get in and u have access for 3 days. A yearly pass is $55 but in winter they close the gate and don't maintain the road so it's not worth it for me. Gate will prob be closing for the winter in a few weeks. You can access it from other free areas but this time of year the road is pretty sketchy. It's actually pretty sketchy in July, but passable.

Since my pass was still good spent another beautiful morning in the IPW. So many lakes up there. Picturesque but very windy today.

Was an icy hike in the Indian peaks Wilderness today.

I have had a ford my last 4 vehicles and have been very happy with them. Right now I have an Edge but admit it's cramped when I take boys and their friends skiing with all the gear. May have to look into a Thule box for the top. The Explorer was the perfect size.

hiked above treeline to catch a beautiful sunrise

Getting cold here at night. Tried to take the motorcycle up Mt. Evans yesterday but rangers said it was 35 mph and 2 deg wind chill at the top. They advised all motorcycles and bicycles to stop at the half way point and that was pretty cold too, about 35 degrees. Still a nice ride, shedding layers by the time we got back to 80 degrees in Boulder.

Toast, is that all your yard or does your property back up to open space? Looks very peaceful

Tried for South Arapahoe Peak today. This last push to the summit proved to be too much. Decided to respect my limits today since I was hiking solo. Walked back down to the meadow and found a nice big rock to block most of the wind and ate my lunch. Not a bad view. Lots if snow left and lots of ski tracks

Rocky Mountain National Park. Spent the day on the motorcycle, went into the park from the west side and rode the Trail Ridge Rd loop. Beautiful day for a ride!
