  1. @AngryHugo-The whole "moose" bear, elk, even Indian with horses decor is why I graciously declined to "buy" most of their furniture from them. I think they went to every yard sale they could find and bought something with a moose on it. I did have them throw in the two upstairs bedroom sets and sadly one does have tin moose cutouts on the headboard (ewww). @JFskiDan-It is getting harder to keep the secret since its mine now. But I know as soon as I take them up there they will not want to be going to Eldora and Loveland. @Nick-any time your interested send me a PM. And yes, I can definitely say I have no regrets about moving to Co. I have no idea why I stayed in NJ so long now I know what places like this have to offer.
  2. I said I would never buy another place near a ski resort, well never say never. I sold a property in NJ and if I bought another "investment" property I would save a lot of taxes. So that's what I did. I just settled on it last week and am still getting it furnished etc. I'm using a property management company to rent it but they haven't got it up on their site yet since I have no pictures (of it furnished). I'm including a link from the previous owner's homeaway site. If any pasr's are interested in renting it I would offer a 20% discount, but not for prime time (holidays, March etc). If you are interested contact me directly. Since I already signed my son up for the race team at Eldora I am not even telling my kids about this until later. I have spent enough money on season passes this year and do not plan on buying one to WP. So I would like to rent it out this season as much as possible and make some money. http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p7129933h
  3. The gondola is being advertised as the fastest way to get from Avon to Beaver Creek Mountain. A three-minute gondola ride delivers skiers to Beaver Creek Landing, where two high-speed quad chairlifts deliver skiers and snowboarders in 16 minutes to the main mountain. This is all I know since I've never been there.
  4. With the epic pass you get epic mix which keeps track of your stats. I just looked up my son and his best day was 19,379 vert in 10 runs. But that may be low because the other days it only tracked him doing 2 runs per day and they definitley rode more than that. Pretty cool feature though.
  5. Thanks for the replies. On Beaver Creek's website (and I'm sure on Vail's too) they have lodging specials going on right now. If you book by 12/15 you get 30% off your stay throughout the season. I got a 2 BR 2 Ba condo in Avon for $207 per night. But I just realized my younger son's 6th grade ski pass is not valid at any of the Vail resorts (D'oh). Ullr-that parking thing is a bitch. I got a ticket my first week in Boulder for my passenger back wheel touching the line in a municipal lot.
  6. So since my son is having the time of his life in Vail and already wants to go back I found a great deal on a condo in Avon 12/17-12/21. Christmas break out here is 2.5 weeks long! Anyway I booked this particular place because it said it was near the gondola that takes you right to the base of Beaver Creek. From what I've read, Beaver Creek is not as crowded as Vail since its further. Any thoughts on this? I am sure we want to go to Vail a day or two also. Looks like there is a bus from Avon transit station to Vail for $4.00. Anyone ever taken it, is it a huge pain in the ass? I think parking at vail is $25 so I think I would only be saving $5 by taking the bus since I will have at least 4 kids with me. I think I read Beaver Creek doesn't have a day lodge, is this right? If so where do you put your stuff. I plan on packing lunch for the boys. Any advice appreciated.
  7. Yeah I will probably go to Loveland since I have my pass there. I spent all my cash on my kids. And POC my kids absolutely love it here even though it was a rough start. The older one fought with me daily for an entire year. As soon as school started and they made a bunch of new friends they were fine. In Avalon they each had less than 10 kids in their class. The middle school they go to now has 600 kids.
  8. Thanks for the advice. His friends to have epic passes and I looked it up and its only $389 for a teen epic local pass. They are riding 4 days so its about the same price as the window so may as well get a season pass. I'm jealous, one kid is going to Vail and the other is going to Winter Park with a friend for the weekend. I haven't been to either place yet.
  9. So my son was just invited to Vail this weekend at the last minute and is leaving in the morning. Anyone know a discount site? Vail online tickets have to be purchased a week in advance and liftopia doesn't have anything. Thanks
  10. Note to ThinkSnow; only give Doug a free ticket if he mans up and becomes a supporter of PASR.
  11. Definitely do a seasonal rental. JFBB used to have a seasonal snowmonsters program which was great. I agree with the others, your local ski shop probably has a seasonal rental program that is reasonably priced. 4 year olds can join the development program associated with the race team. Last year there were only a few 4 year olds so when they had the fun races every Sunday each kid got a medal. Its a great program and your kid would really progress. The coaches are all great. Good luck this year.
  12. That place looks huge, Moe. Congrats!
  13. http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m566/mousetrapgal/measure.jpg In Jersey this would have been a snow day, kids were so bummed they had school http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m566/mousetrapgal/octsnow.jpg Threw in one from Loveland this past weekend http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m566/mousetrapgal/loveland.jpg I couldn't get these to embed on the post for some reason. Made them smaller, then used a different code, I am a computer idiot
  14. Gonna be 80 degrees here today but then Wednesday we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow.
  15. Based on your avatar you have kids. Tell your wife to stick with it. Even though I am really not a good snowboarder I enjoy being on the mountain with my kids. My husband does not ski and I really wish he would because it would be nice to have the whole family out on the snow. And RideDelaware you're right Loveland opening is Fri, I goofed.
  16. We leased some property to some people who operated a motocross track a while back. One of the owners was grading the track and the hills and the same thing happened to him.
  17. Loveland opening this Saturday. Don't think we will head up this weekend, but happy its opening. I just got my 11 year old new boots, just in time. They were $245 on sale for $199 plus I got $100 off through their junior trade in program since I bought his boots there last season.
  18. It wasn't anything major, some spindles on the porch kicked in, my kids painted birdhouses that were hung up and they were all smashed, previous owners had ground lights in the back along a path where they put a pond. Pond all torn up, lights all smashed and kicked in, rock broke a window, gutters torn off side of house. My friend had his shed broken into and they stole his golf cart and crashed it into a ditch.
  19. Ok well Sok nowmaking has begun for the 2011 - 2012 Season! Conditions were just right this afternoon here at Loveland Ski Area enabling our snowmaking crew to turn on the guns for the start of the 2011 - 2012 season! Some natural snowfall made Loveland look like a mid-winter wonderland and with the forecasts calling for temperatures to remain chilly for the foreseeable future, snowmaking should be able to continue steadily bringing opening day that much closer! We do not have a set opening date as it will all depend on Mother Nature's help, but keep an eye on our snowmaking page to follow our progress. ok well I just copied and pasted an email from Loveland and the above is all that showed up. Tried to edit and as I was typing nothing was showing up? Anyway great that Loveland is making snow.
  20. ^^ This I believe from what I have read. There were some bad kids moving into our development too. We had some vandalism a few times in the year before we sold. Its a shame because the Poconos is such a nice area. We considered moving to our house up there but the schools are way overcrowded and really bad. Lots of fights and gang stuff in the high schools.
  21. Had a feeling it was in the Pocono Country place development. Just looked it up and it is. There are quite a few homes in that development listed below 100k. When we were looking our realtor told us to avoid that area like the plague. After reading some articles in the Pocono record we found out there were shootings, stabbing, gang activity. Overall a bad place.
  22. Barb

    SP pricing is out

$359 for my season pass to Loveland and it enables me to buy 2 $17.00 youth lift tickets per day. May try a different mountain next year for a season pass but Loveland is close and I can sneak up there while the boys are in school. Didn't know Elk and Blue where so pricey. Makes JFBB seem pretty cheap ($499 last year).
  23. Scored David a pair of $89 last season boots from Boulder ski deals. If anyone here has smallish feet I have his last year's size 10's I'd be willing to let go of super cheap.
  24. Thanks for posting this, I think I am going to pick one up. I got a season pass to Loveland back in May for $359 (so cheap). It allows me to buy 2 $17 youth passes per day. I am also going to get the 6th grade passport for Stephen. Its only $99 and you get 4 free days to all Colorado resorts. Since I have neighbors who have places at Winter Park and Breckenridge, I am sure they will get used. Can't wait for ski season out here. Gotta start amping up my workouts to get my legs in shape for the longer trails. Cooper mountain has youth season passes for $104. 26 trails (more than jf) not a bad deal if you have kids.
