  1. I once saw someone with a chocolate fountain set up at Bear.
  2. Just purchased off peak. It's not really worth while for me to get full pass. I work 1 weekend a month, then usually use the others for family events, hiking, etc.
  3. Didn't turn the AC on driving home from Blue today, but had sunroof open.
  4. Beautiful pictures. I love how the sky is so clear.
  5. Wow, how old is that picture. And Doug, March 11 closing doesn't seem that unrealistic considering the forecast for the next week.
  6. Yes, I an in the lodge booter upper.....and proud of it.
  7. I'm at Blue right now. Done skiing for the day, as its getting a tad slushy. There's more people in here eating their own food than there is eating the cafeteria food. I personally am having a snack of peanuts, raisins and oranges.
  8. Ooooooo. Glad I changed that rental to a small SUV❄️❄️❄️
  9. I agree it is fun to piss off the race moms. Just feel this could be handled differently. I know when I started skiing, my kids were young, and they started skiing, as well. We would have been hard pressed to pay for lift tickets, rentals, and then pay for lunch, too. There should be an area set aside for brown baggers. I'm all for not allowing groups of coolers "reserving " a table, or putting 3 tables together with one person sitting there on their laptop or knitting or whatever saving those tables. Personally, for myself, I don't care. I eat before I go up there, ski for 3-4 hours and go home. I take snacks with me that can be eaten on the lift. They are making it harder for some people to go. Just because they changed their name from "ski area" to "resort" they are somehow better?
  10. Yeah, and eventually they will not allow that, either.
  11. What do you care about what goes on in the lodge? You said you never go in there. I agree people shouldn't pile their personal coolers all over the lodge, but if a family wants to sit and eat their lunch they brought from home, they should be allowed to. That's the only way some people can afford to go. I totally agree with JLaw and Tarponhead.
  12. Guess I'll have to sneak my snacks in! Are you allowed to bring water in? If I bring my own PBJ, and buy French fries, can I sit at a table? It's just a hard thing to enforce, and may cause people who come there to consider going somewhere else next time. Especially if you are skiing with a couple of kids. 13. Maybe if the food didn't suck so much, more people would buy it. Bring back the BLT! Is this policy for this weekend or will it always be in effect?
  14. When I worked at Bear, one of our jobs was to patrol the lodge on weekends and request people not leave their coolers, bags on the tables while they were skiing. Or ask the one person sitting at the table with 5 coolers while everyone else skis, to please share the table. Most people would either look at you like you were speaking another language, or just refuse to do it. Not much could be done about it. I can't believe people actually take their own beer in the lodge! I have nothing against people bringing their own food, but don't leave your cooler on a table. Just rude.
  15. Yes, I have AWD. Also have great tires. Had absolutely no trouble getting to Blue in the snow 1st thing in the morning last week. I am going to keep looking at rental cars, maybe small SUV. I feel even if it has AWD or 4 wheel drive, tires make a huge difference. I'm sure they don't put great tires on rentals.
  16. Since rental car rates out west is the title of this discussion, I have a question. Staying in SLC, I wasn't going to rent a car, as the public transportation sounds pretty good. Then I thought I want to do a couple days hiking instead of skiing. I can rent a front wheel drive mid size sedan for $200 the whole week. Think that will work out? I did request chains.
  17. Don't they have some kind of deal 3 lessons, rentals and beginner lesson that's pretty reasonable? Doh. Just read Enjoralas post.
  18. It's not crowded here. Maybe a little more than usual for a weekday. Challenge and NM to DW a little slick. The sun will probably help soften things up.
