  1. Yep. They knew there was a whole flock of sheep right behind him thinking they were getting a powder day at Blue.
  2. Limited is a relative term. Limited to what? As many as they can sell?
  3. That and watch how many of those people yard sale all over the place when the snow gets pushed into push piles.
  4. That's going to be sh!t show with limited terrain. I would just turn around and go home. Three of the four license plates I can see are front-platers.
  5. I've actually seen more than a few videos of long lines of people at drive up food banks and I don't watch cable "news". I saw it for real when I went to drop off a donation to the local food bank last Thursday night. I didn't know it was also a pick-up time. There were a lot of cars in line for food a few minutes before they even opened. It encourages me to make another donation tonight. The $600 is just pandering for votes in the upcoming Senate election. Like most people on this forum, I don't need it. Nor does most of the population. They should give it to the restaurants and other businesses and people who are actually hurting. A large majority of people getting the $600 are just going to stick it in the bank. I'll spend it on businesses hurting and I encourage anyone else who doesn't need it to do the same.
  6. Naming snow storms is just a marketing thing that the Weather Channel thought up. Next they'll be naming rain storms, fog, heat waves, cold spells, and earthquakes.
  7. Just tell them, "You have to wear pants in public. I don't hear anyone complaining about that infringing on their freedom" Where are the anti-pantsers? (Although I am a big supporter of the top freedom women's movement.)
  8. I was at Powder Mountain with my daughter a few years ago. We skied all morning and around noon thunder rolled in and they closed the mountain. We had lunch and waited until two when they announced that they wouldn't be reopening. Even though we had skied half the day they gave us full day vouchers good thru the following season. Not skiing related but when I lived near Greenville, SC we had lightning and thunder with snow at night. The snow lit up from the lighting flashes which sort of looked like a strobe light effect. 12.5" for Mt. Mik. It's going to be hard to get an accurate reading because it's going to be windy and the snow will be drifting. Could be 0" at one point and 36" at another.
  9. I got tested about two weeks ago and my insurance paid for it. Not sure how many or if their is a limited number they will pay for per year. If you have insurance it should pay for at least one test.
  10. The slopes and lifts are never crowded but the lodge is a sh!t show. It's usually the locals bringing their kids to tube and they also bring the whole extended family with them who sit in the lodge and take up all the tables. I guess it won't be bad if you boot up at your car and avoid the lodge.
  11. Enjoy! When I moved to South Carolina my kids were small and I told my wife that we are not running back to PA for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Anyone who wants to see us is welcome to come down anytime. My neighbors who ran back to Michigan, Ohio, PA, Massachusetts, etc. would ask how our holidays were and I would say "Great!". They would bitch about traffic, traveling, relatives, and how frazzled their holidays were.
  12. Exactly. People just "have" to get together for the holidays just because that's what they "always do". They don't realize that this year is different and that if you do it some of the people you get together with might not be there next year. They just can't think outside-the-box. Instead of getting together for the holidays set a firm date in July now to have Christmas in July and get together with everyone and have a big bash to celebrate the end of the pandemic and to make up for the holidays. It might be so much fun that it becomes another tradition.
  13. U.S. airports just had the most travelers this past weekend since March. I don't see things improving in the next few weeks. Because people just "have" to get together with Grandmom for Thanksgiving she may not be here for Christmas. People just can't think outside the box and have "Thanksgiving in July" after vaccines have been distributed to most.
  14. Translation: " So someone in NJ told somebody else who then told me." Still hearsay.
  15. This is nothing but hearsay. Consider the source.
  16. I think two things will cause more people to take the vaccine than they were admitting just a few weeks ago. 1. People were afraid of a vaccine that they didn't think would have sufficient testing when tRump was pushing to rush one to market and saying Clorox and could be a remedy. 2. With the explosion of cases with no end in site people will become more afraid of it and more likely to take it. 3. As more people die and especially if someone they know dies, they will be more likely to take it. Of course there are always going to be the idiots that scream at doctors on their death beds that it is a hoax and refuse to take it. But then that just reinforces the theory or natural selection.
  17. It's accurate. I like Whiteface and when the snow is good it's great. But it's not great too often. Based on my impressions from your's and other's comments, I think you would like Gore more than Whiteface.
  18. You transphobic, Doug? or does she just get you all hot and bothered? She's actually done a really good job and has been working hard throughout the whole pandemic. How about a little respect for her work and stop being preoccupied with what type of genitals she has.

  20. I skied there once about 10 years ago. Everything was open and it was OK for what it is. Wow! From the trail map it looks like they took out the chairs and put in gondolas for all of that 400 vertical feet.
  21. The state inspects for safety issues like are the towers still structurally strong, does the roll-back brake work, and are the derail sensors on the sheave trains working. They don't really care what the drive train is like or other components that make it go. In fact, if it doesn't go it's even safer.
  22. There's no requirement to wear masks while skiing. "Patrons must wear masks except while eating, drinking or skiing."
  23. Cool photos. That pic doesn't show a large part of Bethlehem Steel. The plant extended all the way up to where I78 is today with the coke works and other divisions. I used to call on Bethlehem Steel in the late 80's early 90's. You would get a pass and a map at the original headquarters building on 4th street and then drive sometimes a few miles in the plant to meet your contact.
  24. Jay should be relatively empty this season as many of their customers are Canadian and they likely won't be coming to the U.S. to ski. If you get to Jay definitely check out Burke.
