IDK, the made a big deal about switching out the lights and even had a picture of a guy on a roof doing it. I wonder what the holdup is? There a new light at the top of the Boomer headwall, but it's on a timer, so it's either bright or off. I noticed that light on boomer last night too. fleaguy Posted January 7, 2008 Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 PROS 1. easy access to interstate 2. small crowds/liftlines 3. improved lodge (cafateria,tables,carpeting, bar)(last year) 3. bar deck with outdoor speakers 4. new rental equiptment 5. magic carpet on baby slope and tube area(last year) 6. new snow guns(last year) 7. five new light bulbs (LOL) 8. three or four new trails (we'll have to take their word on it...as no one has skied them yet) 9. beer prices (16 oz frosted glass...$2 !!) 10. boarder jumps...new rails for last two years 11. diverse terrain CONS.... 1. lighting...yes they are replacing orange lights when they burn out..but it will be years before they are all replaced at this rate) 2. ugly tent on patio (with two at most skate boarders playing in the pipe...get it out of there in the winter!) 3. website...please...please...please get a different webmaster....please! 4. trail map....was this made by the same person that does their website? 5. ugly tent (that's not used) for a ski-check...the place looks like a circus with all the tents! 6. lack of "family specials" on lift tickets...or deals of any kind on tickets 7. advertising agency....has anyone seen a bus trip from out of the area yet this year?? I think the pros easily outweigh the cons. And with new owners (and the money they bring with them!) improvements will continue to be made. I think all of our problems are we're too impatient. We've all seen the drawings and plans for the future, but we want them all done yesterday. Remember, this is a five year plan. I believe the contract when they bought the mountain stipulated that $10 MILLION was to be spent improving the mountain over the next five years. Now ask yourselves...if this much improvement has been made in the last two years....can you imagine what the next three years will bring? soooo....enjoy "our" little private mountain while we can...it won't stay this "private" for long! patience my little grasshoppers...patience. It's really easy for me to get impatient because Sno Mountain has promised us so many great things, but the fact is that development work takes a while and always runs behind schedule. I worked with a bunch of developers a few years ago, and their projects were always behind schedule. A lot of the stuff is out of their control. When you are a developer, there is a lot to coordinate (general contractor, sub-contractors, materials, weather, regulatory aspects such as zoning/land use/permitting, etc.). If one person in the development chain gets behind, the ENTIRE project gets behind. Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't hold Sno Mountain accountable for things that they have promised and haven't delivered, but this is why I am trying to be a bit more understanding of their situation. Now, I would like to add two cons to the list: Poor customer service Lack of music on the trails (this isn't a con as much as it is a suggestion of what I'd like to see in the future). Ski Posted January 7, 2008 Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 I like the ski check at Sno and there were dozens of sets of skis in there. x2 Free ski checks are awesome. A couple of years ago I was at CB and locking my gear to the orange pay locks and had a security guard yell at me and threaten to cut my locks off if I didn't move my skis. It was a spring day, the slopes were empty (as were the pay locks), and I was locking them to the end facing the lift, so I wasn't impeding any locks. Crazy. I don't know if I've ever seen [heard, haha] it before, I just think it would be fun. bigdaddyk Posted January 8, 2008 Report Share Posted January 8, 2008 Pros: NF, nice wide blues Cons: Exposed mainface seems to be affected by the weather more, always seems to be rocks at the top of the NF lift and going down to cannonball (I never noticed if they do, but maybe blowing snow in the storage area for the cats would cut back on this?) Did they cut down more trees between Switch and Spike? Riding the Iron Horse on a cold, windy day would not be fun on that lift. It is really exposed. There is a line of poles there already which would make it easy to put up some more lighting for the park. I have to revise one of my Pros; The trash barrel is not under the Phoebe lift this year. I always thought that the barrel helped cut down on the litter under the lift. (Not that I ever used it, I do all my drinking apres ski. ) I'll add a Pro; the lifts seem to have been PM'd well over the summer. The sheeve trains are quiet and the Phoebe seemed to be running a little faster. Not sure because I didn't time it. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The trash barrel is gone, but they've been sending workers down the lift lines to collect trash so it doesn't start looking like Blue (eh, no offense Doug---again, you people are pigs). Speaking of lifts, it was kind of a shame that there was rain around the holidays because it ruined the artwork someone spent a lot of time working on. Under both the Iron Horse and the bunny hill lift, someone used multi-color chalk (the stuff they use for ramps and race courses) to create 20 ft. tall elves with a holiday message in the snow. I believe it was from the ski patrol. I like the ipod too just not if its too cold, I don't want to destroy it. I don't see a widespread music system working out too well. Sure most skiers and riders are like me and enjoy some gritty ass'd west coast gangstah rap but there are also older dudes like Ski who prefer Disco and Barry Manilow..then hippies like fleaguy who want to hear Pink Floyd all day....Teacher Leave us Kids alone.. Hell, yeah! Like a few speakers on the towers or one small one on each chair, but only loud enough that you could hear it on the chair and not on the trails.
