jeff
If I had to guess they will open with Susquehanna, Tioga, upper and lower Tunkhannock, east west and bunny trail. But they have been blowing like crazy so potentially with more terrain than that.
Old Geezer
.... Susquehanna, Tioga, upper and lower Tunkhannock, east west and bunny trail. Plus the ski school slope, and minus lower Tunk, these are the usual/minimal trails they open with. Based on some quick math, they will have to stay open until April 21 to make the 100 day guarantee "add on" season pass holders have the option to purchase. On a related topic, what did they do with the usual Xmas week camps/clinics/training sessions, postpone or cancel? jeff
Postponed most things canceled some. And I just drove by, looks like I was wrong about Tunkhannock there is no snow on it
RidgeRacer
Their 100 day guarantee means hopefully some late season turns at Elk this year.

RidgeRacer
I'd consider going up to ski Vermont. Without the drive of course.

GrilledSteezeSandwich
What happens if elk doesn't stay open 100 days?? Do pass holders get money back.
Ride Delaware ?
What happens if elk doesn't stay open 100 days?? Do pass holders get money back.I believe you have an option between a pro rata refund and putting that same pro rata amount towards next years pass. Has it always been an add on? I thought it was standard...

I can't imagine there are a bunch of them outstanding depending on the cost...
GrilledSteezeSandwich
As if it isn't expensive enough... I can't imagine there are a bunch of them outstanding depending on the cost... It's dumb pay extra for a small chance you might save some money next year. I'd have to find out price and history of season length in order to do a full cost benefit analysis.
phillycore
They have slow lifts, Doug won't ski there....
GrilledSteezeSandwich
They have slow lifts, Doug won't ski there.... I skied there in 1995 for two days with my dad. I like blue better. Longer more interesting runs. That parking lot shuttle is weird.
poconoceancity
I don't remember a shuttle? I do at CB.
Ride Delaware ?
POC, the "shuttle" is a truck with an open back that has built in benches and steps off it. It's not enclosed...
GrilledSteezeSandwich
I don't remember a shuttle? I do at CB. It runs from the parking lot by the quad to the main lodge where tickets are sold. I imagine season pass holders can avoid it.
RidgeRacer
I never minded the shuttle.

Ride Delaware ?
I never minded the shuttle. It's not really a problem. They used to allow everyone to ride the quad to the top and then ski down to get a lift ticket, but they kept abusing it, so they ended up axing that. Season Pass Holders can still avoid it. poconoceancity
Are there spots available for early birds to avoid this fiasco?
RidgeRacer
I wouldn't call the shuttle a fiasco. Every time I've been on it it was convenient. Much easier than driving through the minefield they call a parking lot at big boulder.
Ride Delaware ?
I would agree. It's usually not a problem, and if you're early, then you can park in the first lot to the "access road" and avoid the crowds. Sometimes you can sneak into the upper lot before they block it off. When are you thinking of going?
rummy
There is no additional charge for the 100 day guarantee. Credit is pro-rated depending on the number of days fewer than 100. There is no cash back, only credit the following season. An insurance policy, on the season pass, can be bought ($19.95 I think) that covers an injury which ends your season, again pro-rated depending on number of open days at the time of injury. The Elk Wagon runs every weekend and holiday for sure. It will also run weekdays if the upper parking lot is full. Season pass holders do not get special parking privileges. A limited number of parking passes are available for purchase for two separate areas, the upper lot and the lodge lot (directly behind the main lodge). There is a waiting list for the lodge lot pass. We call it the "bar pass", and they are highly coveted. On weekends and holidays only parking pass holders are allowed in these lots, you may be able to park in the upper lot if you get there before security is set up, but never in the lodge lot without the pass. Also, handicap skiers can park in the upper lot anytime without needing a pass. Snow-blowing started around midnight New Years Eve and has been continuous.
