  2. 4/18/19 Abasin...day 3 or 6.... Hey All I’m back from a sleeper powder day at Abasin. I got a great last fix of winter today in the form of 3 straight hours of untracked powder..I got out of bed around 750am..was on my way around 810am and pulled into Abasin around 835am. Booted up and it was in the mid 20s with snow falling heavily. @saltyant and @theprogram4 I should have wrapped my adidas parking lot shoes in plastic bags..oh well the lot had lik 2”-3” of untracked pow..I’ve actually never parked so close at Abasin and arrived significantly earlier a few times. Got second chair at 856am alone and the three Groms in front of me headed 180 degrees back downhill and I headed left to Lenawee and since most of the snow fell in the last few hours I got to break trail...I looked back and nobody..no powder panic to call today a sleeper pow day would be an understatement...I didn’t even ride the lift with anybody until almost 11. The top half of Lenawee was brutal weather. Likely temperatures in th teens..made sure my fly wasn’t down tightened boots and down to Powerline..visibility bad but I know that area better than the ski patrol bowl at Loveland but still a few bouts of vertigo. Fog sideways snow wind no trees at all at least some snow fences and netting and that area isn’t cliffy like the left of west wall. Snow on run number one ranged from pristine 4-5” of untouched powder on groomed and skier packed snow from before to dust on crust in wind blown areas to a bit scratchy lower mountain woods at least early on... Skied to the base lower runs still untouched on the sides of main runs..although flats had some tracks at least to maintain speed...skied some sort of woods variation almost every lower run today had to get the fresh...up Lenawee again hoping it had cleared up again no dice it was like 20 minutes later it’s bit Vermont the weather doesn’t change that fast. Next Lenawee run ventures afar a little more found plenty of fresh and a few people made visibility better...or someone to say googly moogly I cant see shit..goggles were champions...kept them on entire time no fog..and was moist today By like 1030ish the base area was getting busy and the early riser lot was full with overflow lots filling up with people..I did a human slalom through the people at the base and almost was able to coast to the Pali lift, if I was on Roots monsters no problem..up Pali..wet seat wet pants no safety bar..ride was actually pretty pleasent wind not nearly as bad there because it’s several hundred vert below the top of Lenawee..didn’t ski montazuma today..can’t see shit times 6 no trees top half..but will save that and more Pali and beavers areas for the weekend. I saw a few go down Pali face and was mostly refrozen moguls..nope went to west wall that was just skier packed..two days ago..it skied like the cirque at JH..a nice wide wall..in sunshine I could have bombed it as like 8 out of 9 turns were soft..some bottomless but no where near the vis or consistency to put the hammer down. Was cool I milked it...Did Lenawee one more time around 11 was the same conditions as earlier and more people but again people not so bad in low vis just don’t stop in the middle of the trail..lol like I did when I was making videos. Skied down onto the lower mountain and still was getting pow and saw a few new spots far skiers right and different views was still dark still snowing...saw mini line for black mountain express rode that one more time did another lower mountain variation and was out...was able to ski to my car..actually wasn’t my car it was a white suburban I was a row over. Mad Homer Simpson. Oh well...on the way down to keystone the temperature went from the 20s to 30s and then 40s in Silverthorne. I went to a blue lion cafe which switched locations had to google maps to see new spot pretty much a few blocks south of the Target. Had steak and eggs...hit up dispensary now posted up like a thumbtack. I took a ton of pictures today I’ll try to post some now and some later due to lack of bandwidth.

  4. Loveland Cam at 5” seems accurate..sheesh still so much pow pow pow..west Wall was deep and I recorded a few videos for Facebook. Not the easiest skiing trees with poles in one hand and slippery wet iPhone in other hand. Starting to get busier. 7th or 8th lift ride finally rode with another person. Gonna do a couple more runs and probably hit up the one cafe in Silverthorne for breakfast food since I just had a crappy danish and banana earlier. JADIP...

  8. April 17th...Loveland Colorado day 2 of 6 *****Part 1**** Hey All, I’m back from another fun ski day here in Colorado. I arrived st Loveland around 9am and scored a pretty close parking spot. The temperature at the base was around 31 with a few flakes in the sky. I purchased ticket at the window for $65..spring rates FTW..began on Chet’s express and first run did a warm up on mambo which had a bit of fresh on the sides and groomed underneath. A little sticky on flatter areas but not bad and some cushion for the pushing. Back up Chets and this time took spillway to waterfall and then hung left to chair six..while terrain is mellow off chair six I found a few nice pitches and sidehills to get fresh as I went down to the Ptarmigan lift which had some nice untracked near the top and then I ended up taking a little sidehill chute Tomahawk to chair 9 which goes to the summit ridgeline at 12,700 feet...on the second half of the ride the winds picked up..I was caked in heavy wet snow..it’s a quad lift I was riding alone and no Safety bar and no visibility the last few lift towers. At the top took a picture or two of low Vis snow was blowing sideways. Ended up taking patrol bowl great a double diamond I’ve skied it before but not I. Almost zero Vis..pretty much picked my way down two turns at a time then could see rope to the left and chairlift towers to the right..was way more tiring than it needed to be as I went so slow for the top half of the bowl than around the old midstation of chair 9 visibility went from zero to 100 real chick...I skied down to chair 4... to be continued.

  10. ****Part 2**** After the zero to 100 run from the peak I boarded chair 4. Scrub to the left of the chair had been groomed which I have never seen before usually it’s a mogul run and there was the small amount of new snow on top with only a few tracks. I skied mercury to perfect bowl to scrub all untracked and it was great charged the whole run and repeated it. Then I went over to chair 9 with a safety break in the woods on the way over. I only did two laps off chair 9 and the snow on the top was similar to perfect bowl but a bit gluey on the lower aspects. Then skied back over to the chair 4 area back to the base. I was starving like Marvin and starting to feel a little sore. I went to Mexican restaurant in Frisco then went to target to buy a few things including a towel because the towels here suck. I also pre purchased an Abasin ticket for tomorrow for $65.99.

  21. Nice start to the day at Loveland. Been snowing all morning. I’ve only skied seven runs so far ranging from an 8 minute lap on the new high speed quad to a slow and deliberate ski by Braille vertigo run from the top. Very quiet and low key here. The snow that’s falling is of the heavy wet variety and sticking to everything. Only a few pictures only getting two bars here so failed when I tried to upload like 6.

  22. Did five runs so far. Taking a safety break in the woods in the Beavers area. Pretty low key uncrowded day. Groomers are 8 out of 10 eastern groomers..firm and fast..off trail is ok for small sections like to get stoned and piss not good for full runs. I think the breaks of sun will corn up the groomers off trail I don’t know how well the sun will penetrate the bulletproof.
