    The new guy

So I was ridding up the lift at Stratton this weekend with a guy who is friends with the new owners...Heres what he had to say... That Barry is running the ski area because he wants a place to play, and not because he wants to make money. Also he has a lot of friends who are very good skiers (including the group of expert tele skiers that are at CB most mornings). Supposidly Barry has lots of money, and doesn't really need to make lots on the ski area. The manager at stratton also told me that I might be seeing some bump runs, and that Barry would look into trail expansion. Not sure how much of its true, but it seems like good news to hear
  4. So I took some runs at hunter today....(posts about the other days are coming, but probably tomorrow or tuseday)... Anyway we had 2 $20 off thingers for there, so the tickets were 20 for me and 25 for mum (insted of 40/45). They pretty much had 3 runs from the top open, which wasn't too bad. Everything was pretty busy (but it was busy at stratton and mt. snow the days before too, just not enough open trails). The snow wasn't bad...Most people would have liked it (a little too soft for me ) but you could still hold a pretty good edge for most of the day, so it was fine. The only real complaint I have is one of the lifties smoking at the top of the quad threw her ciggarret butt on the unloading ramp right before I got off (and right infront of me)....Didn't seem very nice of her. (Don't worry DMC, if you look around you can see me hating on all lifties that smoke around me, not just the ones at hutner) And the quad stopped for about 15 minutes for some type of mechanical difficulties, then it was powered up on the backup generator (I think)...After everyone was off they reopened it about 10 minutes later.
  5. Pocono schools are closed... Down by philly they don't give us the first day of hunting season off...
  6. Well take that boy out of the gene pool...
  7. Hey, gotta have some fun It happens...Usually I don't cut too close to people who go fast..just those damn n00bs
  8. 6 minutes for an average down hill run? Rob, if you took out the 5.5 minute of smoking....Then you would be down to .5 minutes a run....

    Snow at CB

It was said that there snowmaking crews come in at 9pm for night time blowing...So it seems about right that they would start around 930...Anyway I'm just hoping they get some pictures of it up before I leave for VT!
  10. I heard from an instructor friend that they were opening the 9th....Which is a friday, so it makes a little sence that they would...we shall see
  11. Don't recomend having your hand against the snow...either...Usually doesn't end up too nice...

    Hunter 11-19

They only had the top 1/2 of the mountain open, and were blowing on the bottom half. Since they were blowing, and didn't have enough cover, they didn't want people to ski down. So you had to download. downloading usually only happens very early or very late in the season, or out at Mt. Hood.

    Snow at CB

I don't think they have. There is probably a thread around about past opening dates...But I don't recall anything in Nov.

    Whacks Wax

Adrian- I was thinking about the wax...Whats the advantage to having wax that sticks on your base while you are riding? Seems like it would be just like using a really cold wax, which would be real slow on a warm day. Thanks for letting me know!
  16. Cb has enough instructors that have already taken the training course (I don't think, but am not possitive, you have to take it over again if you already worked there). I talked to them the other day (people in the welcome center) and they made it sound like around the 3rd or 10th...Probably the 10th
  17. yeah yeah yeah....
  18. We had to get back to philly for icemans Bday dinner at 6...Or we would be shot... Anyway, it was a good day, with real nice snow, and good people...Sucks to be you if you didn't make it
  19. Jeff...I like how you got a picture of me after i hit a lil bump.... Tho you had some nice angles...with your sholders Anyway fun day, if only ThinkSnow was there...
  20. high (day time)/low (night time) temps
  21. wow...
  22. It wasn't that cold up at CB last night....Out house is about the same elevation as mid mountain at CB...and it was 33 around 1030pm last night, and 32 around 515am this morning...Not gonna be a suppper effective night...

    Whacks Wax

Hey if you have any samples...Lemme know... Haha or if you are ever at CB, I would shell out $5 for 120g of wax....
  24. Be careful with that stuff...Trails that have been unopened adn have big piles of snow, usually don't ski too nicely.... And they would probably be ticked off...But you never know...
