  1. Definitely not me. But did you all see that a 10-year skied Corbet's last week?!
  2. I'm heading on a trip until March 9th but I want to hit up some IKONic resorts in mid-lateMarch. I've been eyeing the weekend of March 21 at Killington because there's also a beer fest at night ... https://www.vermontbrewers.com/festivals/vermont-brewers-festival-killington/
  3. Close. Goldendoodle. He’s 10 and loves snow, and rocking the snowbeard. He use to backcountry ski with me a bunch
  4. I decided to dust off my touring skis and head up to Camelback this morning. I packed the car with skis and my dog, Birmy, and we were off to go find some snow. When I got to Camelback, I was unsure of the uphill policy. I called during the week and I was told I needed to buy a lift ticket (turns out, I don’t think you do). After walking around with Birms and letting him roll in the snow, ski patrol told me that I could skin up Laurel Glade to Birches and didn’t mention anything about the lift ticket. I was told that the uphill route changes depending on the time of the day based on crowds and to check-in with ski patrol before you go up. I put Birms in the car and I went up for my first lap. It was about 1 mile and 675 vertical feet. It was a sweaty mile, so I went to check on the dog and decided to leave my jacket in the car for the next lap. It was my first time touring in over a year, so still need to get faster and fitter for spring mountains but it took about 30 minutes while telling the beginners they need to put down the lever before stepping down and helping a few little shredders up. Wish I had a GoPro though – not for the gnarly views or conditions but when I got to the top, I was breathing heavy and had my airpods in. I was near the top of Birches and saw a man frantically waving at me. I pulled out an airpod and asked him if he was okay. He goes, “Are you okay? Do you know you’re going the wrong way?!” Overall, solid workout and would definitely do it again.
  5. Not a strip club per se .... but are you visiting Strawberry Park Hot Springs at night, @enjoralas, @saltyant, @pops ? Hard to see much with the steam and darkness but clothing tends to be optional once dusk hits. https://strawberryhotsprings.com/
  6. @enjoralas When you don’t want to talk about the weather before a ski trip .... https://youtu.be/h29GscveKx8
  7. @Barb have you been to FOBP events? I’ve met friends at the parking lot of Berthoud. They do a free avy awareness class on the snow. I did my level 1 before but it’s a great refresher and a way to meet more people into staying safe in the BC. (www.berthoudpass.org/on-snow-sessions.html) also loved the Backcountry Babes group in Breckenridge. Met a bunch of other badass female skiers and learned of new spots in Summit County. https://m.facebook.com/BackcountryBabe/
  8. If it continues to not snow, maybe a mud party would be one of the summer activities
  9. New Jersey man recently died at Vail. Sounds like he slipped through the seat and his coat got caught on the chair. https://www.vaildaily.com/news/new-jersey-man-died-of-positional-asphyxia-on-chairlift-at-vail-mountain/
  10. @GrilledSteezeSandwich It might be closing weekend for some of the resort, according to OntheSnow.com, https://www.onthesnow.com/colorado/projected-closing.html, which means it could be a really fun party. But WOOWoo! Let me know if you need recommendations. I lived there for 10 years. I'll likely be there around Friday, April 17-19 at least.
  11. Ha. Jealous. I was there on the 22nd with my brother. He was doing the eagles chant to anyone who wore a cowboys jersey. I was surprised we didn’t get kicked out of the country club of ski slopes
  12. "Frank Maimone died Saturday, Feb. 8, as a result of asphyxiation due to a headfirst fall into a tree well while skiing at Steamboat Resort, according to Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg. There was no trauma to his body, Ryg said." https://www.steamboatpilot.com/news/cause-of-skiers-death-asphyxiation-coroner-says/ I might have to go to northern libs to get some pizza in his honor.
  13. Not yet but @Schif made a good pitch to earn his $30 referral credit. Going to South Africa at the end of the month. Will probably get it in early March
  14. nope. didn't take the video. It saw it floating around on the internets the other day. I, unfortunately, was probably driving on 76 instead of waiting in line to ski 17" of powder.
  15. I missed that service too. Was at Derek valley around Christmas and I’ve never felt more poor while looking at all the houses in the chairs..
  16. You missed an opportunity to reference Backstreet Boys.
  17. Technically... Yes. You have to pay a full price ticket, which is really lame...
  18. @GSSucks impressive! Will there be a How I Built This podcast with Guy Raz?
  19. I'm curious how they would get people up. The T-Bar at Breck is my favorite but the tunnel with the the little moving walkway at Snowbird mineral basin is fascinating. i would hate to be stuck in there when someone farts though..
  20. @EdBacon - Are you on the Ikon FB group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/ikonpassholders/ It feels like people are constantly wanting to see the stats for the effects of mega passes. There are some stats floating around there too. The TGR forums talk about it too. It might make more people buy a BB/JF pass if they're planning ski vacations that year but you'll notice the largest increase in ridership at the already large mountains like Vail, Whistler, etc. I doubt many west coasters will be clamoring to come ski JF/BB...
  21. I'm curious how they're going to be tracking it... EPIC has RFID readers and it tracks the vertical feet of the lift and you don't need to be connected to the internet for it to track. The tracking is connected to your pass. Over the years, I've had a mix of Epic and other mountain passes but it's interesting to look back on the seasons. IKON uses your phone's locations, similar to the app, SkiTracks. You have to go into your phone and click on start tracking. I've found that it's not as reliable because you need to have solid service on the mountain for it to actually track and it drains your phone battery especially in colder climates. But, it's interesting because it creates a little pie chart of difficulty. The Epic app connects with facebook and shows what friends are at the mountain and what lift they're on. The Ikon app, if you're tracking, will show real time what run they're going down. It's helpful for big mountains and trying to find people. But, for PASR and Blue ... I'm sure if you wait some time, you'll find your friends by the meats. Its partly a stupid competition but here are some screen shots of how other mountain passes track it.
  22. anyone up for skinning up Camelback this season? even though the elevation gain is small, love the workout and want to prep for legs for some bigger touring adventures this spring .
  23. @AtomicSkier & @GrilledSteezeSandwich - If you need more photoshop pics, you can insert your face into a skiier or boarder on Ikon’s instagram https://instagram.com/ikonpass?igshid=1poww1gu8ehx1
