  1. looking forward to trail report from breck.
  2. Epic trip, thanks for the great pictures.
  3. As hard as this winter season has tried to be on us skiers and riders, I have had some very good days at blue. Today was one of them, nice weather, decent snow. Yeah switchback was mashed potatoey, and come around was pretty slick but everything else I skied was ok, and barney's had hero bumps. One thing about Blue Mountain, it teaches (forces?) you to get used to wildly variable conditions. I think that's a good thing. I shared a lift with Matt Edge, enjoyed our conversation. Speaking of lifts, when are people going to learn to wait for their friends outside of the lift loading areas?
  4. Really nice pics, enjoyed folowing your trip, thanks.
  5. I think the new lift is a positive addition to my favorite pocono ski area. I enjoy the different perspective on the ride up, more to watch. The placement of the top station provides much better access for a windowmaker/midway/chute, or vista/burma run. The bottom station could have been moved up 20 or 30 feet to give more loading space? It has helped a lot of people discover the joys of the little gap side for better or worse. At the same time, it seems to have lessened the crowds on the other side of the hill. It changed the lift use dynamic; the quad seems to have longer lines and the old six gets noticeably less use (when it's open).
  6. Interesting day at Blue today. started with a delayed open on the old six. Then NM/DW was being groomed so after a run down Paradise Hayata and I got two nice smooth passes on NM/DW onto a very wavey lower paradise.. We headed down Challenge to find a ski patroller yard sale near the bottom of the head wall, radio and all. We stopped to gather his stuff. and to ask if he was ok. He said he was alright, so we continued on. We got on the old six with another ski patroller who was headed up to help him, because after we left him, he called for assistance. We then skied lazy to the falls and found the falls to be a deep dark mess. Next run was switch back which was another deep dark lumpy teeth rattling mess, followed by two wonderful runs down a nice smooth main street, with a quick bump run in the middle. On our second main street pass, we stopped on the cross trail with about 15 other skiers, as we were standing there an intermediateish skier sailed through the group and unknowingly blundered into the bumps. He got lucky and only floundered over two bumps before they spit him out headfirst onto the smooth part of Main. On our second lazy to falls run, the falls was littered with people that the deep stuff got the best of. Spoke with GSS and got to meet and have a short conversation with Salty Ant. And had a ski by meet up with Mute, nice to meet both of you. Fun day as always at blue.
  7. Did multiple runs on challenge today. That and widow/curzis to midway were pretty good. Quite a few sketchy spots on the hill, but to be honest I thought it skied decent. Got my new season pass. Enjoyed sharing a lift ride wuth atomic and GSS.
  8. I am looking forward to your report on whitefish. Sibhuskies pics and reports got me interested, then did some you tube searching, looks like a place I need to go to.
  9. That is great. They must be getting good at it.
  10. I wonder if any of those other groups are as large, as friendly, or as fiercely loyal as the PASER group at blue?
  11. In your experience skiing at other hills, have you seen any groups of parking lot friends like the ones at blue?
  12. I like the terrain at blue, it's not the most challenging, but it's fun, and the variety keeps me satisfied (more bumps would be nice) I am happy with their snowmaking. Of course I would rather ski natural but I find it acceptable, blue does a good job defying the weather. I was good with the lifts before, now they are even better. Crowds can be an issue at a local hill like blue, but you just have to get your timing right. I like the people at blue even though I don't do the parking lot thing, yet. A couple things you didn't mention. The parking in the valley is nice, close proximity and a flat walk to the lifts. Last but not least, communing with fellow skiers/riders about blue here on PASR.
  13. I remember seeing tubers get air at BC. Looked like fun, reminded me of sledding many years ago. Three golf courses in my area had jumps, saw a lot of people crash and burn on them.
  14. My experience has been that the lift lines have been short all season, even on weekends. The quad seems to have been the most crowded one this year.
