  1. He uses his ski pole, I'm sure he is able to give private lessons some time
  2. BC still has enough coverage to ski around. Its deffinatly getting thin, and bare in spots, but they mostly have the middles of the trails covered.

    Graphite?

Ski999 I heard running over your bases with a horse hair brush when you are done your tuning and waxing will take out any extra static in them (not sure if its true or not, but a pass probably won't hurt)
  4. Sounds like a good run for the GS sticks
  5. I'm always running threw the park...Gotta make sure they don't get rid of the little jumps on the sides of the rails
  6. It can happen in Nastar, but it rarely every does. With GS it is not ideal (or comforatable) to shin a gate, so most time the skis don't come too close (but accidents do happen). Here is a picture of a SL racer going at it. His skis are pretty close to the gate (image from youcanski.com) Here is one of a GS racer hitting a gate (image from http://i.b5z.net)
  7. 1/2 my post from the other thread... (probably not too useful after what ski999 said) It is only good to hit the gates when they become part of your line. Trying to hit them will most likely cause you to lean in. This will cause you to unweight the outside ski and most likely fall. As Jeff said, it is more likely in SL to hook a tip because most aggressive racers try to 'shin' the gates, or hit them with there shins. If you add that to the quicker movement in SL, it is not very hard to hook a tip if you stop paying attention. Moral of the story, don't worry about doing that in GS
  8. I can only see negitivty because that is all I hear coming out of your mouth. Uhh yeah it stoops lower to call someone who does not listen to anything ignorant than it does to call someone a murdered. See deffinition from dictionary.com about zealot (which I have been called many times by you). With that said, I am moving all the posts that are well, stupid out of this thread, into there own one, and locking it. I hope this doesn't come up again (but I know it will) EDIT: not going to remove the posts from this thread, as they are all over. Leaving it locked. Gonna move NJSkiFamily and Ski999s last posts to a new thread, good stuff.
  9. Who wrote that rob? I was in the park for a few runs with Metz on saturday night, and all I can say is that might be the prime time to go. Hit the jumps, and no one else was even around. Don't worry all you park peeps, even though there was no one else even going close to hitting the jumps, I still yelled dropping Landings weren't too beat either, would have thought on a saturday night after it was warm all day they would have holes, but they were pretty good.
  10. Your ignorance is truely shocking rob. How many days has ridge trained at CB? Maybe 15, and you think you know everything about the program? You don't. You act like you do, but, you don't. If all you can do is bitch and moan about Camelback, no one really wants that, and so far that is all I have heard you do. You know where the door is, I would suggest going out and seeing what the other mountains do, maybe you will find one you like more, maybe you won't. But your endless complaining is just stupid, get in a car, and go somewhere else if you don't like it. Ohh and by the way, I have ran many courses with brushes, stubbies, gates, including many couses that have had brushes leading to the gates Uhh I know...Just because its not posted publicly, doesn't mean you didn't say it.
  11. I love how I just wrote out a whole long message and then just deleted it all, and this is all I am going to justify that with (read betweent he quoets) " " .
  12. Look at a picture of a SL turn and a GS turn. They are skied the same way technically, but one is faster. Which means if you can make sweet GS turns it DOES NOT mean you can just instantly make the speed faster, and make sweet SL turns. You still need to work at it. Now I don't want to miss quote a head coach at Camelback (or a number of other coaches there) but they said something along the lines of 'sl and gs turns are the same, but in sl everything happenes quicker...' Rob you are a complete fool if you think I never question Gus. Saturday morning when I rolled in at 730 I was questioning why we were training GS insted of SL, I question all the coaches on why we do certain drills if I cannot see the meaning of them. On sunday I was in what seemed like a shouting match with Gus on the bottom of raceway when I thought he did something wrong. (too bad I was wrong) Do not call me a blind USSA Natzi or a brainwashed racing zealot, or anything like that ever again, until you know what really goes on. I have been at Camelback for the last 4 years, and I went from finishing almost every race in the last few places to Finishing in the top 1/3. I would call that improvment, which I got from training, and being coached from the coaches at Camelback, who have PROVEN that they know what they are doing.
  13. If you look at a Slalom turn, and a GS turn, they are technically skied the same. Slalom turns everything must happen quicker, thats all. I often question why we are training SL or GS when we have a race coming up that is the oposite. The problem is there is only so many resorces...Trail space, gates, coaches. Also IMO more of a focus is put on GS racing, with more early season training being GS oriented. Hes not oging ot learn how to ski for a race the weekend before it, but over his whole career. Nastar will help my GS racing just as much as free skiing, bumps or glade skiing will. It all helps, and its good if you can ski it all. But the way Nastar courses are set is so everyone can ski them. The way USSA courses are set up is that you must know what your doing to be able to get a good time on them. Uhh are you/is he for real? or was that sarcastic? Cause if he actully ment that, then I'm going to beat him (as I have told him like 293 times that he needs to work on SL turns)
  14. PA Cup at 7 springs. Might be a bit of a hike for ya, but its a 2 day SL. Hopefully I can drop some (many) SL points this weekend. Other than that, gotta look and see what else is in NY. '999 I'll try to find it, and scan it in soonish
  15. I wouldn't know it was you even if I used you as a slalom gate Err not quite sure what you and your crew look like
  16. I was encoraging you to kick my ass..you just weren't smart enough to pick up on it
  17. Haha I know, and I think anyone who is willing to join USSA and race deserves something, whatever age. Nastar is good for fun, but well, its good for fun DO IT, KICK HIS @$$ OLD MAN wait a minute here, something don't seem right
  18. Well the 'old' guys can't qualify for JOs, but there aren't too many Jr races would wouldn't want to ski like Randy or Johnny P.
  19. Not really his last year of eligiblity tho...He can always race as a senior We know you think that
  20. NJSki were you avoiding me We will have to take a few runs together (with the ripper kids) sometime. Maybe threw Nastar
  21. In that case.... wimp
  22. Make it so they were never physically able to steal another board
  23. At BC most wed nights....Don't really want to miss a day of training to go there, but I might show up. Who knows A note about Nastar today...Both Ridge and I were on our SL sticks
  24. No, i just mean they are getting stolen from the racks, and being reported stolen to the guys in the ski check
  25. Blue mountain was, and always will be the place to go to get your skis stolen. Even with the ski check I hear they are still averaging like 5 pairs stolen every 'shift', which I assume is 8 hours. I know the night before the race they had 9 pairs stolen
