  1. Heard about this contest on the radio today. Looks like random winner of 2 Blue passes and $500 to Army-Navy store chosen from those who submit photos. http://951zzo.iheart.com/contests/upload-your-epic-ski-photos-298426/ Can't beat free.
  2. You would not enjoy living next to me. Although nothing is out yet. Maybe this weekend.
  3. We're probably good for now, I picked up Rossi E88 HDs and he got the above mentioned Salomon Xdrives. I'm scared you're gonna post up something so nice I'll have to buy it and the wife'll kill me! lol
  4. Yeah, we both really liked the RTM 84 when we tried it at demo day last year. He ended up picking up a pair of Salomon Xdrive 8.8 at the Blue end of season clearance in the spring. Got them for a steal, and was real happy with them for the last few days of the year.
  5. Pretty sure Blue get their projected opening date from waiting until Camelback says their's, then saying one day earlier.
  6. When I went last year there was the occasional patron who just stood there and downed the sample then got another, ignoring the fact that there were people behind them. He was probably of that ilk.
  7. Went last year when they gave a free ticket to attendees of the season pass party. It was fun even for someone who doesn't drink beer. They had some decent food for sale, and a few distillers giving samples as well. There was a vendor selling BBQ sauces and one selling salsas, giving out samples, good stuff. As a non-beer guy was glad it was free for me. Will be at Fanatic Fantasy fest down in Philly tomorrow.
  8. I'm kinda gathering that from what I've been looking at, I just meant from a cost of the trip and breaking it to the wife I'm vacationing without the rest of the family perspective. Had kind of planned on a long weekend or two up north before dropping it on her that I'm disappearing for a week and spending a bunch of money maybe season after this one, lol
  9. Cool, I'll make sure to try to check it out. Yeah, Pops is coming with. I didn't think I'd be headed out west this coming season, figured we'd make a trip or two to Vermont or something as the next step in a progression, but a guy at work knows someone who is organizing a group trip, and the price seemed too good to pass up. Definitely another one to add to the list to check out. Love me some BBQ. Bought a new pellet grill/smoker this summer. Wife wasn't happy, lol. Can't blame her, it *is* outdoor cooking appliance number 10. Got a great deal though.
  10. Plan to ski the shit out of Blue on the weekends and 2-3 weeknights late after work. Might try to get a few of those Pocono cards because I do like Camelback and enjoyed Jack Frost last year, will probably hit Montage once or twice, had fun there last year too. Headed to Steamboat first week in February. Really looking forward to it
  11. Some interesting things from that article: I hadn't seen that particular artist's rendering before, and it was interesting to get a better look at the location. From the pics I had seen in the past and the description, I thought it was more of an expansion/revamp of the upper lodge to extend up the hill, and I couldn't quite figure out how it was incorporated. This is the first I've seen mention of a split concept between timeshare and regular hotel rooms. From the story it looks like they are planning at least 55 regular hotel rooms and up to 80 timeshare rooms.
  12. I don't get why they don't do it the first weekend in May. There had to be more snow around then. If all you want is to say you opened for a day in May, why wait to mid to late month?
  13. Never been but I know people who spent some time there when it was known as Traction Park. Their alpine slide was apparently one of the most brutal around for wrecks and road rash. And some of the free form concrete water slides were supposed to be out of control. There are still a few of the tamer ones of those left. Would like to get there this summer, assuming they open. Also, this slide was A Thing there:
  14. $25 for a $50 giftcard tomorrow morning at 9:00 am: http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/allentown/blue-mountain-ski-resort-27
  15. CamelBlue. When does the zip line go in?

    Ski apps

    I also use ski tracks
  18. Still 30 left on this round. Not flying off the shelves at all. 6 of the 20 sold were me and my dad, lol. Could really do some damage with multiple email addresses. Or the gmail + trick. This round is allowing multiples per credit card. TP4 could drop $300 and really save on that pass!
  19. Pretty much. Never know when they're gonna stop doing it. Only real risk to sitting on a bunch of gift card value is that they go out of business. EDIT: That being said, if e'eryone is tired of the posts I'll stop. Hopefully they're helping someone.
  20. I don't know what the hecks going on, maybe Barb has another loan payment due, but they are back in again with an unprecedented middle of the day drop: http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/allentown/blue-mountain-resort-4 $50 gets you $100 again, and they're back to print on demand
  21. Happened across an unannounced sale this morning. Only 5 left, $50 for a $100 gift card this time and looks like they will be mailing the voucher instead of print at home. http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/allentown/blue-mountain-ski-resort-24 Looks like they are now limited to one per email address AND one per payment card, so that's probably why there are still a few available.
  22. Just finishing up lunch at Boulder View Tavern after a nice day on the snow at Boulder. We arrived at about 9:30 for the 10:00 opening and headed into the snow right about ten after buying tickets and booting up in the lodge. We jumped on the Merry Widow lift to head down Mittle-Weg. Snow was nice spring corn with some firmness to it due to the cold temps overnight. Headed right at the bottom of the hill to hit the Big Boulder lift and check out Draufganger. On the way up it looked like Bunny's Elbow/Schuss was open, and it was. Not sure why they didn't have them listed as open on the website, With those two trails they had 50% more trails and 100% more non-freestyle terrain open than advertised. We decided to hit Bunny since it was open and found pretty much the same snow conditions, maybe a bit softer because of the flatter trail getting hit by the sun already. Coverage was nice on all trails, wall to wall with pretty much sufficient depth. All three trails did start showing some dirt by the end of the day in a few spots. Went back up the triple and ran Draufganger, which was for me the run of the day. Same firm corn as Mittle, and it stayed very uncrowded all day so there was little worry about traffic at the bottom where Bunny merges in. We stayed on the Big Boulder lift for all of the rest of our 28 runs for the day. Mostly Draufganger with 8-10 Bunny runs and 3 or 4 Mittle-Weg thrown in. Would have run MW more if it wasn't a pain to get to. Snow got progressively more mashed potato-ey as the morning and early afternoon went on. By the time we called it quits at about 1:30 it was pretty soft all over, and some areas were starting to bump up pretty good with piles of mashed. Skated over and skied down Love Park to finish as close to the lodge as possible. After debooting and dropping gear in the car we popped into the shop to check out the sale. Seemed good with a "Buy one item, get one for $4" deal on soft goods, and same deal but $17 for the second item for glasses, goggles and helmets. Left without buying tho, didn't see anything that jumped at us, and only a few options for my fat ass anyway. They're supposed to be open again tomorrow and I see no reason they wouldn't be able to have the same 6 trails open. They could probably make it to next week with a t least a trail or two, but based on the crowd I would bet tomorrow is it. Either way, today was the last day on the skis for me for this season. Really enjoyed the hell out of it and definitely progressed as a skier. Put in 31 days at 5 different PA hills (2 new to me) for about 209k vertical skied. Now I guess it's roller coaster and theme park time. Disney in 27 days!
  23. Boulder is opening tomorrow and Sunday, 10-6 with 4 trails, Draufganger, Mittleweg, Boulder Park and Love Park, with $30 tickets. Probably gonna head up tomorrow.
  24. That's the gist. Probably too much effort for sure for one card, but last time I got 5 that I still haven't traded in. Hopefully will again. I want to go up this spring or summer and check out disc golf, I'll just convert them all then. I know it helps that I'm close, but for $250 free it'd be worth the trip.
