I’m old and remember a brush fire that started near Parryville along 248 and traveled 5 miles East and in a day . It skipped roads pretty quickly. There was a 20 mph wind. I didn’t know it was going and drove through Palmerton to Beltzville and ended up driving through it . I remember a dude who was fighting it with a hose. His grass was burning and it traveled around the house. I passed an acre of pine trees that were fully engulfed. We lucked out so far.

They had two running most of the day. They were filling up in the Lehigh by the gap but the wind changed direction and blew the smoke over the area.

Back burn from Timberline rd. Hopefully it doesn’t make any more eastward progress 🤞
-
My concern is there are some hemlock trees that are on the north side of the ridge not too far away, and the winds forecast to kick up out of the south tomorrow. Hopefully they knock it down before it gets to that point because it could be an issue for blue . It looks like it’s traveled about a half mile east even though the winds are out of the east . i’m sure the BlueMountain crew is gaming out some scenarios for firing up the snow making equipment that’s mobile just in case.

Yes, for now although I think this fire is going to be very dangerous. Winds are supposed to pick up out of the South tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn’t end up on the North side.

Yes they have done in incredible job of restoring the ridge on the East and West sides of the gap. I probably have some old aerial photos from the 70’s where everything for a mile in either direction is dead . From what I saw on the video it looks like the top and South side of the ridge East of the river is what’s involved. That area is huge boulders and some white pines and Hemlocks. I don’t think it’s part of the restoration that you’re referring to. My Niece has some relatives on Timberline rd . Last nights report sounded like the fire was moving south slowly. At least the wind has tamed down.

Blue is safe, the fire is a few miles away.

They don’t trap your thumb if you have to bailout. I hang them on the bar when riding the lift. Still loads for sale online and the plastic is still flexible after 40yrs.

Much better today thanks, I had lots of pain running up to my knee. I was concerned about that, it messed up my gait which I hoped wouldn’t end up causing back problems. I’ve had low back issues in the past but have been doing some exercises that have helped a lot.

Picked up my season pass yesterday and today stepped in a 1’ deep hole in the grass in my backyard rolled my ankle and heard a crunch. Beer sedation but hopefully nothing permanent. With Big Snow option when does 24-25 season officially start? Hmmm?
-
Yeah it’s been a pain, one that I thought was on my neighbors property turned out to be on mine fell and hit my other neighbors garage roof. I’m renting an 85’ lift this fall and taking a bunch down .
-
Unfortunately not, it’s enough for well pump, oil boiler, freezer , fridge and minimal lights . Most of my outages are Ash trees.
-
Mine finally came back on at 8pm yesterday. Outage #19 for the year. I think my generator has 1000 hours. Wife has been lobbying for an automatic generator for years. I’ve pushed back but the humidity has me reconsidering.
