  1. Usually if the scratches run with the direction of the ski it does not effect performance. I also read somewhere that p-tex does not absorb wax like base material, so you don't want to go overboard with the p-tex.
  2. What are some of you ideas so we have some thing to work with? For statictics, try to e-mail Mt. Creek or another ski area that implements them and ask. If they are willing to help they could probaly give you a lot of info seince they are owned by a big corperation. Saftey Is definitaly the biggest concern. Are you looking for three different arguments, or could you do three reasons that park passes improve the saftey of the guests using the terrain parks and therefore should be implemented?
  3. Cliffhanger, especially with powder Big Pocono Dromedary Rocket w/ Bumps Any of the greens in the middle of the mountain when they're wide open. ( oak grove, upper Moore's Ramble, etc. )
  4. I just looked outside, and its snowing! But it's also lighting out. That something I haven't seen before. Hopefully we get a lot more snow.
  5. If it was just school groups couldn't the instructors give out the passes? And at greek peak, do the passes continue to be good forever after you get it? And It would be very impractical to do it in a large scale. But just keeping the school groups in line would be a big help and promote continued responsibility from the students.
  6. That is a great policy. More mountains should do something like this with school groups. That is the group of people most likley to be skiing above their ability and causing problems.
  7. Eligible for the permit at 16, licence 6 months later.
  8. There are so many tourists in the area and it is a novelty so I don't think they will have a problem making a profit, especially it they hold concerts and contests and stuff. The only pitfalls I can think of would be insurance, and the start up cost is huge. But it in a year round business and it will be the only place to ride in the summer. Good luck with this, I'm sure you could pull it off.
  9. The snow was slushy tonight, but it was still good. It was soft, but not too soft and sticky. The trails I was on were good. There were no bare spots that I saw, except for the hole that opens up on honeymoon lane every year. My only complaint was the lift lines. They were not too long, only a minute or two, but they were definitely not fun to stand in. There were a ton of people trying to shove themselves into the line and noone directing so there were always 4+(usualy more) people getting in line after the merge. It was tough being a single because you couldn't tell when there were double or triples, and it seemed everyone there wanted to shove themselves in to the line with no respect. Also when I got there I walked by the rainbow-kicker box on the side of sunbowl with half the topsheet ripped off. What was left was delaminating. If they fix it and put it back in hopefully they can get it level .
  10. That's a great idea and it would be awesome for the poconos to be the firsts place to have it. The pocono regon seems to be growing very fast (why I'm getting out after college) so it would be a good location. When are you looking to have it done? This summer or further down the road?
  11. If people want to fly down a black out of control and hurt themselves there only hurting themselves. But when they are out of control in the park they are going to hurt other people. If people want to hurt themselves, that fine with me, but we can't let them endanger other people. The park is an expert area, but its on a green or blue trail. When beginners look down a black they can't see the bottom of the hill and are intimidated. There were a ton of foot prints where people hike back up the rocket because they were scared away by the bumps. But in a terrain park the trail is shallow and the beginners think "Hey, that trails isn't steep, lets go down because its the cool thing to do." even though they can barely stand up. Diamonds and terrain parks are two completely different things so you can't compare them equally.
  12. Even If the passes are free, If they could be revoked if you are posing a danger, then I think it would help cut down on stupid people.
  13. I can tell that it's not getting in to the base right because I can see the wax that I dripped on the board not melting. If I work it in I can get it melted, but it is still sticky after scraping it off. I think I'll just have to take the bindings off every once in a while so I can get it really good, and just deal with it during every day waxing.
  14. The problem here is not whether or not it was a good business decision. There saving money by closing, and today they did have an excuse to close. But thats not the issue. The issue is that they don't care about their customers. They seem to make that very clear. And quite frankly I don't care about the people that only go three days a year. They don't know the difference between good and bad snow, they care more about the lodge, so why cater to to them. It seems like Camelback doesn't get the fact that keeping your regular customers happy is a huge part of business. [EDIT] I do understand that there was a real saftey concern tonight because of the unusual circumstances. What I am commenting on is a bigger problem that CB seems to have.
  15. My school has block scheduling, but I don't think its all PA schools. I have a math final tomorrow and friday. We don't get out early, but I have a day off next week when the semester changes.
  16. No, it's not pooling. The wax just never melts right. I have metal bindings/baseplate so I think that the bindings are absorbing the heat from the iron so the board never gets hot enough to melt the wax. The only solution I can think of is to take the bindings of when waxing, but I want to avoid that. I also want to try corking it in over the bindings, but that wouldn't have the same effect.
  17. The air and water are in two deferent lines. They would have to hook up an air line to the water line, and there is a ton of water in the main lines so it would take quite a bit air to blow it out. Maybe one of the snowmakers can clarify. I can't quite remember where I got my info but I think it is credible.
  18. I can't speak for montage specifically, but I think most mountains keep water running through the main lines to keep it from freezing. It would be inefficient to blow out a 6" pipe every morning. If the pump dies because of a power outage then there is nothing they can do. But like I said, I don't know if that is what actually happened.
  19. Wouldn't the race practice be considerd ski school, which is allowed to cut the line.
  20. I actually didn't mean you car. I meant something else that I could do to appease the snow gods. Maybe they would detain the golf clubs as evidence.
  21. Hmm... what would the snow gods like sacrificially burned?
  22. Yeah I have last years magne-traction. This year Lib Tech has a few different boards with the technology. I think it does help a little. I'm not exactly sure how to tune it, but hopefully with the edges I can leave the edges dull for rails and still hold an edge when I'm on hard pack.
  23. Camelback blew snow last night, so the trails that got a fresh coat were really good. Most of the trails were packed powder, some of them were loose granular/frozen slush, but packed powder was more prevalent. This morning was great for carving because most of the snow was soft. They had most of the trails open, but its much better have a few trails closed for snow making than bare spots. The rocket was not bumped up, but they left the snow making piles so there was a lot of terrain variation which was fun. The right side of it was pretty level and had lots of real soft packed powder. It was starting to get crowded as I was leaving at around 11:00AM. Over all I thought that the conditions were very good, especially considering that it was pouring rain a couple days ago.
  24. Hmmm... I wish I had plastic I needed to weld. Thanks for the info.
  25. How much would one of them run me and what other plastics can it weld? It looks like a fun tool.
