Maybe they don't want to scare there customers away with swaying lifts. And the quads are probaly more expensive to run.
-
well not realy cliffs more like anoying drop offs.

I don't know if it was your suggestions or just common sense, but there is now a sign at the top of Rocket that says "BUMPS" It wasn't in very good shape. There were a lot of about 1'-2' cliffs on the downhill side of some bumps. But it was still fun.
-
I noteced a lot of holes from people in boots walking up the top the Rocket the other day. It definitaly keeps beginers off.

I think a big thing doing any type of tricks is confidence. You have to be confident and commit to what you are doing. If you don't think you can do it, you aren't going to. Also keep practicing on small jumps and stuff until you are comfortable and progress from there. I can't give any more advice because I'm still trying to learn also, but thats how I'm going at it.

I was talking to someone on the lift about that the other day. I concluded that it's probably because CB wanted a double black. But you are probably right, I think it has to do with length.

Those are amazing.

I wonder if the tranny will stay in better shape once we get some better snow. The stuff we have now really isn't good for holding its shape. It should also get better once there are not a ton of people riding up and scraping the tranny off because they don't know what they are doing. I haven't hit it much but I think it is fine the way it is. If they were going to change it, it is installed on large posts in the ground so they wouldn't be able to change it until next year.

It's still pretty good now. But It should get better if we get some natural snow and they could start blowing again. A few nights of snowmaking and it should be good and after this week end it won't get as much traffic so that will help too.

Camelbacks website states that they will start snowmaking again tonight. That should really help the quality of the snow. It's been nothing but ground up ice lately. Hopefully well see some improvement over the next week. Also, anyone was there today, did they open the rocket? It was closed while I was there this morning, but there website says it will close tonight at 8:00. Thanks.

It doesn't look like it's going to be crowded today (12/29/05). I was up this morning and there were no lift lines even when I left at around 10:00AM. The second lot was almost full, but on a normal holiday I would expect cars starting to fill up the backup lots by that time. By the look of the live cam there are still no lines at 11:30AM. If you don't mind getting soaked it should be a pretty good day. The snow was slushy but still hard when I was there and if there is not a lot of traffic it should hold up fairly well.

I just got back from CB, I was there from 6:30 to 9:00 The conditions weren't too bad. Most of the people had left by the time I got there. You could definitely tell that there were way too many people on the hill because there were tons of rollers and ruts. Over all I had a good time.

On tuesday there were a ton of people at CB. I'm not shure how much of there backup lots were full but there were a lot of cars in the lower dirt lots. I was there around 3:00PM and the lines weren't too bad. If you were smart about choosing lines you could be on the lift within a few miniuts. It seems like most of the people were standing around in the base or on honeymoon lane/medows. I can't speek for earlier in the day, but when I was there it was pretty good skiing.
-
When Waxing my snowboard I've notced that my bindings act as a heat sink and do not allow the wax to melt into the base underneith them. Dose anyone know any soloutions to this problem, other than removing the bindings? Thanks.

Yeah the rainbow box was ok speed wise, but set up crooked so it kind of threw you off to the left. The hippo rail was too close to the top of the trail and you could bearly get enough speed to clear it.

Do you guys have something under the pvc like a 2x4 beam? If you just had the pvc supporting itself from just a few points it would flex too much and, being brittle from the cold, snap. If there is something stiff supporting it then you would have to stomp on it realy hard to shatter it. Also if the pvc is over probaly 3" dia. you probaly wouldn't have a problem either way.

I totaly agree with you that the government and public schools should not push religion on anyone, but I think Ignoring it or trying to eliminate it from public places is just as bad. Taking a religous holiday and trying to eliminate religion from it is like trying to force lack of religon which I think is the same thing as the constitutoin protects against in fredom of religon. If they can't push religion they shoulden't be able to push lack of religon either. And if none of this makes since to you then just ignore me, some time my thoughts are a little out there and hard for even me to grasp without trying hard. Mostly I'm just against being politicaly correct. I should be able to say what ever I want, and if you* are offended ignore me. *by 'you' I mean people in general, not anyone specificly .

Oh yeah, I actualy just heard something that today but forgot. The I ment the version of christmas that the christions adopted. BTW are there any pagans around today? Someone in school was asking.

If you want to use metal but can't weild you can take a look at http://rampplans.org/ramps/Bud_Stratford/ the rail, double round and angle look like good alternitives. I'm bulding the one with angle iron ( My Rail ), I'm also putting some round pipe on the front and end so it dosne't dig in, but haven't got around to it yet. Also if it is any wider than that you may want to look into putting a topsheet on it. If you have something supporting the pvc you may be able to replace the pvc with metal conduit. dthmtlunicrn made a rail by just bending conduit and puting giving it 2x4 legs/feet, but he could problay describe it better than me.

You could count down to the next pasr day.

I hate all of that politial correctness bull. We need to be tolerent of other people not ban everything that might offend someone. If you want to celebrate christmas by being with you family and stuff that is great and I very happy for you. But that doesn't change the fact that Christmas is a christain holiday, and always will be. Trying to take religon out of christmas is wrong. You can celebrate however you want but you need to be tolerent of other customs, and trying to be politicaly correct by taking religon out of christmas is possibaly one of the most intolerant things they can do. I'll leave it at that because this is a skiing and snowboarding MB not about stuff that is wrong with the world.

Because I was looking at todays date when I typed it. It should be the 18th. (edit: thank you)

Whose going to Camelback this sunday for the PASR day? And how long are you staying? I'll be up there on sunday but not untill around 5. It looks like they will have a decent amount of trails open. (23/33)

The only reason everyone is bashing CB to day is because they closed unnessicerily. I love CB too, I think that it is over all a great mountain that is why I am so mad when they do things like this. And who is saying "come over to montage" I don't rember anyone say any thing like that.

I'm done tring to argue with you people. You don't understand that there are some people that just want to ride no matter what it's on. I'm pissed because they closed, if you don't like it, thats your problem. Complacency never got anyone anywhere. BTW they closed because of money, stop making excuses.
