I was soaked in 2 runs/. 45 mins in it changed to sleet and my jacket froze. Last 15 minutes turned back to rain. It was so cold in 34 degree rain. I would definitely get an all wheel drive vehicle out there. I pay about $400 for 7 days of a mid size SUV but in April. I bet airfare was cheap. Save your money for weed. It's not cheap out there but good. I was super frustrated last year as rentals for a mid size SUV were running 7-800 I was even thinking of taking shuttle to the Denver doubletree hotel and renting there for cheaper but then miraculously one day was under $400 at Alamo.
