Yep I used to burn the midnight oil chasing fish when my girls were little but now they’re both playing travel softball and I help coach both teams. Bye bye free time March through November. All good pretty soon I won’t have this time with them and I still sneak out once in a while. Even got to ski on this trip in December4 points

It was great, the boys really loved it. Didn't tell them we were going until we were at the gate. Even though the older one had guessed it several times (airplane rides mean Disney to them) there was still an appropriate amount of surprise and excitement when we told them. It was pretty crowded, with pre-Easter and Spring Break happening. The popular websites had it as 9 or 10 out of 10, but we were able to pack in plenty of activities due to knowing how to work the Fastpass system, as well as springing for an upcharge early morning event at Magic Kingdom. They wouldn't have gotten to ride the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train if I hadn't, since we only had a few days heads up to book Fastpasses they were of course, all gone. Also rented a car when we would normally just rely on Disney busses, figured with only 2 days and a morning it would help maximize our trip.3 points

The Sacklers have some fucking nerve buying into a business in a state that opioid addition has hit like a neutron bomb. Fuck them. Vermont has better places to ski and I hope NJ and NY skiers take their gold chains and exemplary diction to Killington or the Catskills. God damn our fucking craven plutocracy. EDIT: These legal edible gummies are doing nothing for my attitude.3 points

Killington was horrendous yesterday. We had some near-biblical rain on Monday, which is probably the main culprit I usually love spring skiing, but Holy Jeebus. Except for Superstar, every trail was dirty granular garbage thinly dispersed over ice. I wouldn't pay money to ski there this season unless you want to lap Superstar, and even that was icy and scrapey.2 points

Sweat, Smashburger, Weed... In waiting room at dispensary..almost as crowded as Abasin..the receptionist is talking out growing and all kinds of stuff. Talk of a joint Loveland/Abasin pass next year as Abasin leaves the epicpass. Definitely saw some Ikon Lanyards today. They get like $25 off lift tickets at Abaybay..I probably should have bought a next seasons Abasin season pass at the beginning of this trip for $399 which includes the rest of this season and a few other perks. Oh well hindsight is 20/20...I’m finished purchasing lift tickets for this trip ended up being $69 day one at Abasin with Bloody Mary, $65 day two at Loveland, $65 day three at Abasin, $85 day four at copper and $135 day 6 and 7 at Abasin. That’s somewhere right around $420...for 6 days..that’s the cheapest I’ve ever done out here. My first skifari out here I paid $100 for one day at steamboat and that was the spring rate.2 points

Nice pics Mike. Never caught a tarpon either. The only time I targeted them, they wouldn't touch any of the flies I threw at them, but it was still awesome just casting to 150+ fish. I did hook one off a beach in SW Florida, but it broke the leader pretty quickly1 point

Never caught any, or even attempted to catch any. I haven't been fishing in years. I used to love it, though. Mostly just bass and cats.1 point

April 21, 2019 Abasin day 6 if 6 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Abasin. I arrived at the mountain a little before 9am and was once again relegated to the first overflow lot..not quite as crowded as yesterday but pretty busy. Temperatures were mainly in the 30s on the mountain with a variety of sun and clouds. Conditions were packed powder on the upper mountain and crispier packed powder and even some mad sweet and low on the lower mountain. The rope tow was running to get over to Montezuma bowl and I did a few runs over there..I also skied Powerline at least three times and the last time I skied it the light was so flat but I still skied it basically full speed because I know the run well. For about a lift ride there was some snow and graupal..I also rode the lift with a patroller who wanted the bar down which was refreshing. I peaced out a little after noon and the sun was shining and I was warm but not sweaty like yesterday..then as I drove to Denver there was a bunch of rain and I checked the Abasin webcam a little while ago and they received like 2”..wow just wow...I stopped at chili’s and just checked into my hotel room at the Hyatt place Denver airport. Im in their club so got two free bottles of water. Gonna chill for a few hours and then go across the street for some drinks.1 point

That's fine with me but you better check with Toast since I think he maintains the official rule book for keeping stats.1 point

Been skiing all over..I believe 6-7 runs so far...Have been on the lifts with locals, Boulder person, Chicago person and Erie PA person. Light went super flat around 1030 and the clock at the bottom of the Zuma lift apparently broke yesterday at 420. Also saw the Easter egg hunt take place. I’m older than most of the parents lol..I never took place in an Easter egg hunt. I hope the taco truck is open at the base. I could use a margarita.1 point

Definitely feel like I made the right decision with Disney World, then. My ski days at Killington would have been last Sunday and Monday.1 point

One of these years I want to hit up Beartooth pass..when I lived in Montana I didn’t know about it..for the last several years they’ve operated a surface lift and lots of cool little mini golf lines...1 point

4/20/2019...ABasin..Day 5 of 6 Hey All, I’m back from a fun ski day at Abasin. I was up at like 3am felt good fell back to sleep up at 5 was a little hungover. Wake and baked has free hotel breakfast..fruity danish..coffee laxative banana..relaxed text with east coast friends..was in car ready to leave at 755am..dry roads no traffic 815 saw that the early riser lot full but like 2 rows were roped off for an event. So I was thinking wow maybe I’ll have like front row in overflow lot..nope I was like fifth row each row with maybe 15 cars across two deep plus people parked at perimeter and a jam up at the $20 pay lot right near ticket office. Booted up hoofed it across lot down outside steps..steps leading to tunnel through tunnel and boom an Uber crowded base area and the lifts aren’t even spinning yet. Picked the slow ticket line they scanned my phone and a two day ticket to paradise..actually 2 of 7 which is convenient..chatted with New Yorker and chick from crested butte getting friend discount on pass and she said 3/4 or the businesses in CB are shut down now and most of the locals are in Moab and other places. Clicked into skis temperature about 40 and sunny..half corral and tents giving free yogurt, cliff bars and petitions about climate change they were collecting signature for. Better than the free jolly ranchers at Copper but was appreciated to let me know that I still hate jolly ranchers. Lift line guy working the black mountain express was great grouping four singles together and that’s when you either have great conversations or dead silence. Only one person whipped out a beer and vape pen on the lifts today so pretty low key. Vape pen guy works in the MJ industry in accounting. Enough of the expose on all the people onto the skiing. Conditions on the lower mountain were initially similar to blue after a warm day but with superior grooming and more room to maneuver around people. Upper mountain was almost winter time groomers and off groomers some old crusty leftover refrozen mank..was still in the 30s on the upper mountain. I skied all over today and only did Lenawee three times because it always had a line..one run I took locals advice and skied to the base and said screw this full corral to the Pali lift then over to the beavers up beavers and straight down Lenawee face to a stopped Lenawee lift and even longer line. Why did they have to get rid of the Norway lift..sheeesh. That lift was sweet never a line. Anyway was nice getting some peace and quiet in the beavers area and skied the long steep winding blue groomers which was only groomed on the top half and bottom half was yesterday’s skied off snow refrozen..nothing I couldn’t handle but I feared some goobs would get owned by the tricky fall line I believe buckhorn..if you fall on the last pitch it will send you into the woods. I love that shit it’s the exposure I don’t like. Ended up on Lenawee a final time around noonish singles line wait a few minutes people on chair in front were the ikonic folks from the ticket line I knew right away by the Yankees jersey something you don’t see much more likely to see an avalanche jersey. Skied the powerline run for a second time today and was still winterlike snow top pitch a little sticky icky mid mountain and lower mountain the shadows and areas of sun dictated if it’s mush or not. 50 or so degrees and sweaty after walk back to car..people grilling burgers so decided to go to smashburger followed by dispensary followed by 7-11 and posted up at the days inn for a final night. After skiing Abasin tomorrow I’ll be driving to Denver airport and staying at the Hyatt place..1 point
