  1. serious lulz 60ft isn't possible. There are very very few places that have a pack of that depth and unless your landing a fucking jumbo jet on that slope you can't exert force at those kinds of depths. R5 or Class 5's have maxed out at maybe 12-20ft and those are extremely rare. 60ft of propagation is what you are talking about. There are crazy videos about the Euro 98/99 season, entire towns were buried, beacons were put on cats, I can't remember another season like that. This is just a cool video -
  2. This is the saw you want - http://www.silkysaws.com/Silky_Saws/Folding-Straight_2/Silkys-BIGBOY-360mm-LG-Teeth-Hand-Saw Blade length is nearly perfect for cutting columns for compression tests, particularly the ECT. The large teeth are really nice for denser snow or ice layers. Its sorta pricey I guess for a snow saw but its well constructed, mine fell down 400ft of King Ravine plunking off rocks and you couldn't tell anything even happened to it. Its also big enough to use for more general wood cutting and such, I've cut up downed logs about 6" in diameter no problem, certainly if it was that large and green it might not work but that is more axe bow saw work. The handle is long enough that you can get a nice two handed grip if you really got to tear into a piece of wood. I see they have a newer one called the Katana that has an even larger folding blade, the big boy however is the perfect size for a BD day pack so this would probably be too long. So many snow saws are made by people who don't know anything about making saws and hence the saw is a piece of shit. Looking in your direction Life Link.
  3. lulz I've generally found that we all play assholes on the internet but in real life the vast majority of the time people are cool. If he still has the proform I let you know, I think BD forms also had trekker beacons but I'm not sure I'm remembering that right. I thought Avy 1 and 2 were a ton of fun, you get to learn about snow and tour. Certainly in your neck of the woods its probably even better, we got Mt. W which is cool but I've been there alot and it has a very unique snowpack. I thought about 3 but that's probably not of any real use for me and they no longer offer in on the east coast as the field work had to be mostly theoretical. lulz on the EC snowpack
  4. That's what I was wondering, lots of places have a rule but nobody has them on. The Pioneer gate at Brighton has crazy amounts of young kids running laps out there yet you turn you beacon to search and all you get is your partner.......thanks for the reminder time to check the batteries when I get home. If you blow into it right it sounds alot like a moose call, plus you could probably turn it into some kind of bong...lulz
  5. First and foremost good to here everything went ok for you and your back in one piece. Certainly a good lesson for everyone about partner safety and human factors concerning riding in avy terrain. I may have a line on a cheap new lung, a buddy had and may still have BD proforms. I'll check and let you know. Were you beeping ? I strongly believe anyone riding in avy terrain should take at least avy 1, even EC dudes who want to run a little slack out west or whatever need to know what the fuck is going on at a basic level. Avy 1 is cheap and fun, shit even Avy 2 is cheap and fun. EDIT: The last paragraph wasn't meant for you Glenn, I know you have knowledge and skills just a more general statement on the lack of knowledge by riders.
  6. SICK BIRD!!!!! Serious snow stoke.
  7. Last night was dog shit, some of the worst snow I've ever tried to ride. The refreeze was not kind to the corn piles.....
  8. Really nice report that brought back great memories of face shots, the pow mow stuff really put me right back on the bus with Woody. No one should get all upset because person x says whatever, ride for yourself certainly not for the internet let alone what nick malozzi or johnnylaw thinks. I will say that a TR should be like a story or what you would tell people, every little detail is not necessary nor that interesting. Again sick TR, there is alot of skiing time left lets hope someone posts something good. Seriously who cares ? Who gives a shit if Johnny Mosely thinks my 360 mute sucks or if Doug Coombs (god rest his soul) hates my skiing style from the grave. You ride for yourself and no one else.
  9. Its Mt. Ogden I believe from the John Paul lodge, the coke can and No Name/ Allen are to the right. Two peaks down is demoisy with Y Chute and Flamingo, the line in between those two requires linked jump turns but that area isn't open very much. Edit for pic: Snow basin has the easiest slack lines in UT, a little tram car will come and get you and bring you back to the base.
  10. Back in the day Woody who I believe is now an ops manager drove the pow country "bus". The original bus was a flat bed truck with and aluminum sheet bed, sure as shit nearly every time he'd gun it to make the turn near sunshine people would get thrown out. I think the next year they added an overhead tarp which did absolutely nothing, now they got sweet as shit buses....wish they kept the flat bed's really weeded out the gapers. lulz Woody was the shit....one night after a couple days of big dumps the access road was shit so everyone is riding the bus from that private club near Wolf. Woody's son dumps bus one in the ditch and bus two is still in the top lot trying to get out, he orders all of us to get in the back and start jumping while two snow mobiles and a cat are pulling from the front. Significantly shortened the life of that bus but we got out. There's got to be 1-2ft on the road and dude is doing like 40mph down the road, the fucking ass end of the bus is moving around like Michael J Fox on coke and he's on the radio yelling at his kid. Greatest feat of snow driving I've ever seen. If you see woody ask him about his friend in Florida who sends him grapefruits and invented that floaty thing life guards use.......serious lulz Oh Pow Mow how you've grown........
  11. Pow Mow has been around a great many years, its a smart persons hill. Slow and low with tons of snow, I love the LCC/BCC but your on the rocket hunt right out of the gate if it snows. Pow Mow you can ski as you like....in a weird way its what skiing should be. Really only two or three sections of the hill but James is pretty steep but that's hike to. Its certainly advanced meadow skipping but meadow skipping is unbelievably fun. Thanks for the pics Toast, first time in a long time didn't get there this year......makes me smile just seeing the middle "lodge" and thinking of those fries.
  12. Dude a fine lady specimen with a spectacular rack in a full face that rips is like the holy grail.....often dreamt about but rarely seen...
  13. Go west my young man to Seven Springs...and then continue driving to Silver in Idaho....24"
  14. That's only kind of true but mostly irrelevant. With the exception of one day everytime I've been there its been empty bleachers. James/lightning may have 100 people in a day and that's probably the best riding on the mtn. Their acreage is inflated with some shit that is really flat but the vast majority of the time there aren't enough people there to make a difference.
  15. I fucking love it.....if I do get up there I hope I run into you.....a sense of humor is relatively rare these days
  16. This weekend looks nice, interesting to see how many brown outs with all the rain.
  17. I may break my asshole rule and go to hunter....its been a few years maybe all the dbags are hanging out at windham now.
  18. What a bunch of fucking tards........
  19. Serious stoke, jealous
  20. Say exactly that, posting a tr takes time and effort so its good to know its appreciated.
