Barb Posted April 5, 2025 Author Report Posted April 5, 2025 More pow stashes today. Bonus that I got to see @Johnny Law’s pink pants in person! 7 1
Johnny Law Posted April 5, 2025 Report Posted April 5, 2025 I remember why I never want to leave this place. We went Buttermilk first thing as its their closing with the fresh snow and like 4 people there it was absolute pinch me shit until 11 or so. Crazy views of Pyramid, super sun and perfect temps with untracked to your hearts content. After tie hack was tracked out we over to west and found even more. When you found a line you liked you could just go back move 5ft over and ski it again. Buttermilk is super meadowskippy but we skipped the fuck out of the meadows and it was glorious. Around lunch I went to visit the queens of slay at Snowmass, it was super nice to catch up with Barb and Snowmass is staying open until 6. I skied mad laps and am eating a cheesesteak at Zanes but I'm gonna go back out and ski for 2 more hrs. My arm is still all janky though improved, putting a jacket on is more a seductive stripper like move but none of it matters. Beam me the fuck up, I'm never leaving the mothership. 7 1
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 5, 2025 Report Posted April 5, 2025 Wow just wow and tell Barb I said hi. 1
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted April 5, 2025 Report Posted April 5, 2025 @saltyant this is getting good.
Barb Posted April 12, 2025 Author Report Posted April 12, 2025 Just finished up probably my last day of the season at Snowmass. At 9am snow was already soft in the sun, but round a corner of shade and you hit ice. Hit one spot around a corner and there was all brown with one section just wide enough for skis plus a mandatory frogger hop over some rocks. Hard to see from her but this is where I stopped. Temps were 60’s with a brilliant blue sky. Stopped at the new “Cabin” for a bathroom break. Bathrooms were fancy! Had fragrance jars on the sinks. So Aspen-y! skied onto every lift, nobody there. Closing weekend next Saturday, but I feel like I got my fill today. 6
Barb Posted April 12, 2025 Author Report Posted April 12, 2025 (edited) Just saw this video. I watched this guy ski down this line last weekend. He had a spotter go ahead to make sure all clear, then a guy videoing him. He was amazing to watch. Edited April 12, 2025 by Barb 5 1

Barb Posted December 11, 2025 Author Report Posted December 11, 2025 First day out. Warm here, 40’s. Should be some rope drops tomorrow as they are opening the new Elk Camp lift. Would still have to download from gondola. Snowmass is a pretty rocky place so I will def wait until that gets some more snow. Oh and I broke down and got a little place here last spring. If I like you, come and visit. You know who you are. 5 2 1 1

You buy new places more than I buy new skis. Funny butt true but I haven’t purchased new skis since 2021 1
Barb Posted December 15, 2025 Author Report Posted December 15, 2025 (edited) Relax…..it’s Buttermilk… Decided to try Buttermilk today since yesterday Snowmass was just a hot mess. Sad to say Buttermilk was not much better. Nothing is groomed since they are tying to save what little base they have. So it’s all boiler plate. What was untouched man made snow on runs is now like skiing thru cement. I’m taking a break and maybe get back on my bike until we get some more snow. Fingers crossed January is better. RidgeRacer Posted December 17, 2025 Report Posted December 17, 2025 Boilerplate at Aspen is probably a solid 8.5 at blue. 2 1
Barb Posted January 4 Author Report Posted January 4 (edited) No pics, I know I suck. Was skiing w my kid today and he wanted no pics of him whatsoever. I kept taking us down ungroomed runs and he wanted to just go fast so I waited while he took a solo run. This guy comes up to the bench I am sitting on, takes off his prosthetic leg from upper thigh and stashed it. Tucks in his hanging ski pants leg and casually proceeds to hop up the stairs to the lift. I caught him coming down as well, amazing skier. Then he hopped over to retrieve his prosthetic and left. I just thought that was so cool! snow was the best on Alpine Springs lift. The rest was a lot of ice. I really wish it would snow. Edited January 4 by Barb 5
Barb Posted January 5 Author Report Posted January 5 Finally a couple inches of freshies today. Low viz but fun conditions. 4 2
Popular Post Barb Posted January 15 Author Popular Post Report Posted January 15 (edited) Decided to get out of my ski funk and go back to Snowmass. Was in line 8:45 this morning. When they allowed us to advance my pass would not scan. After what seems like an eternity of aggressive left side boob mashing against the scanner it finally beeped open. I’m sure a few behind me were annoyed. Got 4th chair. Skied down to Alpine Springs in what was my first legit cord of the season. What a nice change! I then skied Naked Lady off the Alpine Springs chair. Not groomed, but no bumps, kind of just annoying choppy crap. Missed my turn and ended up going back to the base skied right on the VX 6 and had the chair to myself Skied down to the Sheer Bliss lift to see what was up. It was really windy up there and I know the Big Burn runs have not been good. I decided on Sheer Bliss, 2300’ of bumps my legs were feeling kind of cooked so I made my way down to the base, took one more lift up to the mid and skied another groomer down Edited January 15 by Barb 9 1
Barb Posted January 31 Author Report Posted January 31 First day of my 3 day moguls clinic. We spent the day at Aspen. Weather was nice kind of sunny comfortable temps. We started out a group of 5 ladies, 3 were from Australia. They stopped in Japan to ski before coming to the Us. They said 15 years ago Japan was a secret spot but now everyone knows about it. They remarked how jealous they were that my friend Natalie and I could just “ski for the day”. That kind of put things into perspective. At lunch some groups got shuffled around and somehow now Natalie and I have our own private instructor for the next two days which is amazing! We did some runs that I really wasn’t really for and it was not pretty. But my form can only improve. Tomorrow we ski Snowmass so we don’t have to fool around with the bus and can just roll out of bed. This run was a lot steeper than it looks guess the camera flattens things out Not a lot of pics today. Will try and do better tomorrow. I precooked all our dinners since I knew we would be beat. Tonight was bean, potato and kale soup with cashew cream. Hit the spot. Tomorrow will be chicken enchiladas. 9
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 That looks rad and those aussies sure get a lot of vacation time. Soup also looks good 1
indiggio Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Can’t beat having an instructor for just 2 people! Keep your eyes up and hands forward! 2
Barb Posted February 1 Author Report Posted February 1 Did hours of drills today as both of us needed to work on aspects of our form. I’m sure muscle memory will kick in eventually but for now it is taking lots of concentration to break old habits. I am incredibly sore after today. It will be a miracle if I make it the whole day tomorrow. There is just not really time to take pics. Only got one of Natalie being instructed on our next drill Another nice sunny day. Mostly did runs off upper Elk camp, was windy up there and the top headwalls are pretty wind scoured. Snow gets better after that. Mountain was pretty quiet for a Saturday. Here is one of a very Aspen outfit, fringe on her jacket from yesterday. If I was quicker with my phone I could have taken a lot more. Lots of Kardashian-esque outfits 5
indiggio Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 Pivot slips are your friend. Perfect them in both directions and you’ll be happy you did! 1

Has it been super warm? I’ve never had a sweatier Jackson hole trip than this one. It has been warm. My layers are good for up top though. I love my Arc’teryx shell but it doesn’t have pit zips which is a bummer. It’s pretty old. My plan for today is to slather some bio freeze on my legs and hope for the best. 4 4
toast21602 Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 Really beautiful even with low snow. Surprisingly I have still never skied in CO so I need to get out there at some point. 1

People were complaining earlier on the lift about the high pressure (dude also cancelled his trip to Aspen) yet my dumb ass was sitting there smiling ear to ear soaking up the sun like Sheryl Crow 2
