Happy holidays all. Just back from a nice morning at Blue mountain. In the house were JFSkiDan, Dirtwolf, Atomicskier, Atomicskiers lady, BenM, Mixlplix and a few others for the 8am Friday opening. Santa left a few surprises over Christmas including the opening of a few new trails. First run was on one of them for me..switchback and it was surprisingly good for day 1 conditions. The star of the show however today was main...upper and lower, but especially upper was a 9.8 on the blue mountain scale, a carpet basically. Curzis to Midway was another decent run today. Freefall was good as was lazy. Falls however was open and it was decent, the lead up to the falls however was a bit dicey. Razors opened as well but it looked like the ice planet hoth from empire strikes back so the wise decision was to stay off of it for now. Opinions vary about today's / tomorrow's storm. While some are optimistic, others are not so much. Predictions range from ice to 10 inches. Time will tell I guess.

8-11:30 today. Kinda uncomfortably damp , leaving my equipment in the van overnight wasn’t a good move either.

I was tempted to do Razors first thing once the quad started loading . It looked like racked billiard balls waiting for a break. It got ugly before the drop so I figured just  point em straight lol. I survived.

Main st was really nice, I met up with the bumpers shortly and sampled most of the mountain. Not bad but the crowds started so I bailed.

Is that razors today or an ultra close up of Parmesan cheese? Crazy to me that was deemed acceptable.

Razors at 2:40 pm .

11 am isn’t much better.

pretty good day today if you didnt waste time with Razors, it looked ugly from the lift, and probably worse all up close and personal.  Switch was surprisingly good for first day.

seems like if the lifts dont run for a day, people forget how to get them going again.  OG 6 didnt appear to be opening first thing, and then the Quad needed some more quarters to get it going, so we started on the New 6.

Snowmaking on NMDW and Challenge.  Tomorrow is a pow day, 1-10".  whatever.

Super fun morning at Blue. Like Dan said, down for one day and it's like restarting TMI...

Switch rode well for opening. Pretty smooth with some gravel here an there. Main was super good. Really firm up top but then it loosened up a fuzz and you could lay into it. Raceway/Mid was a mix bag of conditions.

Never made it to the Comet/Callenger side of the mountain. Wanted to scoot down lazy but all I saw was waves of peeps going towards it. Place seemed ghosted the first hour..

Rode from 6 to close.  So much for snow, all wintery mix.  People got scared and were leaving in mass when I pulled up around 5 and it was raining.  Conditions were shockingly good, deep natty sugar and grippy everywhere but the middle of Falls.  Razors wasn't horrible except close to Razorback where it was a large marble sized cookie field but nothing you couldn't point straight through, squirrely to turn on.  Switchback was shockingly smooth. Lapped until they didn’t let me on the lift anymore which is rare for me with barely anyone in sight.

Looked bad, but was surprisingly edgable. Jut ran it once though. Main and Curzi’s were just too nice. Skied with my son and daughter-in-law, made the mistake of giving my son my Carv transmitters and a buddy pass. Sigh.
