Barb Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 Just giving some info if any of you have plans for a Colorado visit this season. I am sure you are all following weather topics. It’s bad out here, and I mean bad. Locals say they haven’t seen it this dry in decades. We had a bit of snow last week. Now we are in yet another high pressure pattern. Here is a graph barely hugging the bottom line of averages. I personally am not motivated to ski at all. If XC conditions continue to be decent I will most likely just do that locally. Winter may show up in mid Feb or March who knows. Latest I saw from Chris Tomer he said we are switching from La Niña to El Niño. He gave a snow total estimate in feet from Jan -May. Berthoud Pass is only predicted to have 6’ of total accumulation. Let that sink in, it’s terrible. Lots of locals are already writing this season off and going to Utah and Arizona to bike. 1 1 2 4

Can’t you enjoy skiing groomers until it gets better.
Barb Posted January 13 Author Report Posted January 13 Yup I’m spoiled I admit it. Nothing is being groomed because the base is so low. 2 1

Barb you should come to Jackson hole in two weeks, they’re almost fully open and your buddy JFDan will be there. Blue was bulletproof Sunday and I only skied a handful of runs and felt like a pussy when Harold and Kumar skied 20 runs that day. 1

I signed up for a moguls clinic (months ago) that starts on 1/30.

Barb Posted January 13 Author Report Posted January 13 Bummer, I was seriously thinking about it. My class goes thru 2/1 1

Not a heck of a lot better in Utah either, living off the residuals of the last couple of storms that luckily brought snowpack to median. Need this stupid big H to depart the West! Brighton 1 2
saltyant Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 (edited) My brahs and I decided to cancel our March trip to Breckenridge and just go to Stowe. I bet the snowpack in Colorado might be radical by March but I don't want to risk it. @GrilledSteezeSandwich This is the inverse of saltyant 2018 when cancelled my Stowe trip one week prior and went to Colorado instead. Won't impact going out there either way because a change of scenery is always nice, but some more base would be nice. As I have previously heard, it's all about that base.
