I'm going to try for first chair tomorrow. I failed to plan well this morning and forgot to see what time breakfast starts. Then I was delayed more because I kept stuffing my face, took 5 minutes to get my car up the hill, got stuck in traffic, had to pick up my RTMs, had to go back to the car because I forgot my poles, couldn't get my boots on because they got snow in them, and then struggled to get up the hill from the parking lot to 4 runner and kept falling and was huffing and puffing and looked like a total jerry. If there was a video of it youd all be laughing like hyenas. I got an untracked run on Toll House which was a lot of fun but too many flat sections so I likely wont be doing that again. Its so fucking rad out here. Made 4 runs total, 3 on blues. I usually don't know what trail I'm on and just ski around randomly. Lord was a lot of fun. Hit some deep powder In an ungroomed terrain park with a lot of untracked which was sa weet.3 points

Wow I would have bought breakfast somewhere else and waited in line at the mountain by 730. That late of a breakfast is unacceptable3 points

we arrived at the one and only jackson frost about 8:30am, and it seemed like a lot of other peeps had the same idea. I saw the snow line advancing east as we were driving up on the turnpike, so I knew it was def gonna snow, but the storm took its sweet ass time arriving. The first hour or so was good sliding for sure, but the snow didn't start in earnest until 10am or so. About then we went in for a quick snack, and to let the new snow to begin to accumulate. The new installment really made the day fun. t-bolt and happy glades were good, but the margins were still a bit thin. Elevator glades were soft under a crunchy topping. Floyds was sweet once the snow picked up. Not a lot of untouched areas due to the masses on the hill, but it was nice making a those soft turns. We closed the mtn down, and by then about 4" or so had fallen. Good times had by all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Hey All, I'm back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I pulled into the lower lot at 720am and Phillycore was already in the Hiz-ouse..Schifdawg was in the house as well as Atomic Jeff, JFBBDan, Johnny Law, Indiggio, Tarponhead, MBike Mike, Matt Edge, TP4 and many others. First civilian chair was lit. Nice carpet first run on challenge..was a good second run on challenge as well but beginning to degrade sidewinder wa salrigjt switchback and was empty and New manmade snow Main Street was the run of the day..top half was a carpet second half not bad..pretty much firm groomed and a little sweet and low. Razora was closed for racers and nightmare dreamweaver closed again so paradise was the crazy mile and a quarter. Snow really started to pick up before I left and was interesting to see the temperatures rise and fall with elevation on the way home. Should be several hours of snow for the poconos and this is heavy and wet so bonds well to existing snow won't blow into Danielsville!!2 points

Wow..I've worked like 7 hours in the last 12 days and scheming to take off Wednesday. Don't be too jealous I had like three days off last summer.2 points

2 years skiing and starting when yer 28? Remember what I said about 10,000 hours. Yer progressing well. Focus on one thing from your lesson tomorrow until it "clicks". I might be back over early Wed AM. Tough to decide when you gots 10,000 acres to play with. What's on deck snow wise, you ask? WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are possible. * WHERE...The northern Adirondacks, the Champlain Valley, and north-central into northeastern Vermont. * WHEN...From Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night. The heaviest snow, with snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour, is expected between 2 and 9 PM Wednesday. Snow should taper off during the pre-dawn hours Thursday. Almost like:2 points

Holy shit, that video is everything. I think I've lost my ability to detect sarcasm; averaging about three hours' sleep a night. Full time job, part time job and looking for a job. Another fucking Skype interview tomorrow when I could have been at Blue by 2:30. I could have taken a phone call at Blue, in my car. But NO, it's 2018, and we have to Skype. Do you know why, in the history of telephone usage, nobody has ever looked into a mirror for an entire phone conversation? Because seeing your own stupid face when you're trying to talk to someone is a soul-crushing nightmare that's why. Anyhoo. Fresh powder for Salty; that's great.2 points

And dont worry about getting there first thing either. So stressful. Everything will be just as good at noon. First chair is for suckers. Demo some really narrow skis, and for god sakes leave that powder off trail for others. Dont want that stuff in your face.2 points

Salty it looks like the gondola is on wind hold..I'm not gonna tell you how you can cut over to the gondola from nosedive via rimrock above the glades because you will likely complain that there are flat sections where you have to skate and poll but I'd be getting the fresh over there that way...2 points

I remember staying somewhere with my dad in Sugarbush that didn't have breakfast until 7..and was a full breakfast like pancakes and sausage and my dad eats so slow and didn't even have his ski pants on yet and it was killing me. He's one of those people who likes to sit for a few more minutes after eating. I vowed that when I was a grown up I would never put up with that bullshit well at least until Nastar Glenn couldn't get in his damn skis because they were caked with snow lol..2 points

Day 1: Travel day, or "eff this, I'll do it myself" (next time) Up at 530 am to leave at 615 for the drive down to Philthy to make a 930 flight to Denver. Pops picked me up just a bitt late and we rolled out about 640. Made good time and puilled into the valet lot at the Parking Spot I on Essington. See them for all your PHL parking needs. They had us over at curbside check-in by 800 we were checked in just minutes later. The curbside guy was able to add my KTN to the itinerary without a hitch, something they couldn't do over the phone yesterday. If I end up on one of these group trips again I'll opt out of the travel portion . It's hell not being able to manage my own reservation . Breezed thru precheck and waited for pops to clear security with the unwashed masses. Went down to the gate, stopping along the way to buy a diet My Dew. Always buy your drink as soon as you see it, don't figure you'll wait until you are closer to your gate. Might end up being the only place that sells it and now you gotta walk all the way back. Ask me how I know. Caught up with one of the supervisors from my office, and met his girlfriend. Hit up McDoogals and got a sausage and cheesse Mc Griddle without the egg. No one needs me eating eggs right before getting in an enclosed metal tube with them for 5 hours. It a humanitarian thing. They opened the desk so went up and paid $50 to upgrade boarding position to A9. Another byproduct of the group booking was not being able to check myself in or buy the cheaper early bird check-in, so we ended up at the tail end of B group which could not stand. A9 got us the exit row with its copious amounts of room, so it was money well spent. The flight was uneventful. Enjoyed 3 bloody marys courtesy of the super cheap drink tickets I bought on eBay. Grabbed the bags and skis and boarded the bus for the 3 hour bus ride that turned into 4.5 counting grocery stop. Had a cool older driver tho, and enjoyed looking at the mountain scenery. 3+ hour bus ride are something else I'll look to eliminate from future trips if possible. Got tok Steamboat after dark and unpacked groceries and bags. Went down to soak in the outdoor hit tub for about 30 minutes before it closed at 10. Back in the condo now and about to grab some sleep. Plan is to be up at 630 to head over at 745 to grab a pair of glove liners then be ready when the gondi opens at 830. First day of western skiing is tomorrow!1 point

I got a lot of untracked on Toll Road. When I got to the top it was windy foggy and snow was blowing everywhere so I couldn't see. Because I was skiing poorly a week ago I just did Toll Road as a warm up and then realized I haven't actually forgotten how to ski. I found a deep powder stash in a terrain park and I was worried about hitting a covered terrain feature. The powder was really deep in there and almost entirely untracked.1 point

Beg to differ. RTM 84s are a higher-performance ski and IMHO much more versatile for east coast skiing. RTM trash-talkers need to differentiate their hate. From Skimag.com: "Volkl RTM 81, which returns unchanged for 2017, is also lighter weight. It's designed to be quicker edge to edge, livelier, and more forgiving for skiers of lesser skill, with no top-and-bottom metal reinforcement or UVO dampening module as found in the more expensive models. " https://www.skimag.com/gear/volkl-rtm-81-2017 I don't believe that pandering to my low skill-set with "forgiving" skis is going to make me a better skier.1 point

Yeah that’s what I’m reading. I feel bad for my buddies who are heading out there. I keep telling them that the snow totals haven’t been favorable lately but I keep getting the “dude it’s colorado” response. They’ll find out.1 point

Theyre connected by the Long Trail. 15 minute hike to Stowe. Im fine with skiing anything within your comfort level. Ive got 4-5” at the house so far. Eagles!!!!!!!1 point

What does that include? Because that price point usually includes a base grind and you don't want to do that to your new skis without a good reason (concavity, e.g.). If I were you I'd do some research on ski tuning and maintenance so you know what to ask for. It seems like you keep getting gouged by shops, or up-sold services you don't need. EDIT: Also get one of these and you won't need edge work as often. You can put a diamond stone in it, too. http://www.tognar.com/fk-sks-edge-trick/1 point

I hadn’t had a chance to post this story until jus now, so I apologize to anyone who has already heard it. On day 3 in Jackson we were waiting in line for the first gondola and I was right behind a big burly guy with a bushy red moustache. I came to find out that this was the same guy that almost kicked Doug’s ass a couple years ago for questioning the local line etiquette. This dude was very aggro, hollering at a fat guy with a cup of coffee who was one of the wallets that ski from 8 to 8:45 am, “no food or drink on the gondy, chump!”, as well as several other funny things. I chatted with him a bit and he was real pissed that the lift attendant was letting some wallets through after 8:45. He screamed at her about this, so she began to enforce the rule. The next group that attempted to come through the gate, she very professionally stopped them and said they couldn’t board until 9. Just then, the burly guy noticed something and said, “oh shit, that’s the one guy that can do anything he wants here, she’s in deep shit”. Jeff was able to read the monitor on the rfid turnstile which read “Tommy Moe - Victor, Idaho”. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
