Yeah at some point I liked up Union Pacific on Wikipedia. Serious profits!!! On my FB some people have seen the big boy train multiple times. I’m cool seeing pictures but I read about the big boy trains and wow they are heavy and alot of thrust.

But they do have a "heritage steam" division or whatever they call it, so they are pretty into it. I do believe the excursions, like what they did from Pittston to Jim thorpe and back were pretty expensive passenger tickets. But regardless, Big Boy traveling across the country is a bigger deal than anything our government could put together. Kudos to UP. its cool to see crowds showing up in droves to see an old steam engine run. im surprised that frump hasnt tried to slap his name on it in any way, shape, or form. 1

toast21602 Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 50 years ago my dad photographed the Freedom Train for the bicentennial when it came through Bethlehem. I'm sure if he would have been even more excited to see UP Big Boy if he was still around Sadly, none of these rails are active and have been torn up and passenger service left the valley a few years later. 7 1 1
