Awesome day! Anxiety of waiting on avy mitigation for 1.5 hours had me bugging but it was so worth it. A few sections of the hobacks today was some of the best big mountain powder skiing I’ve had. Could hear @AtomicSkierhooting and hollering and when I came around the corner I knew why. Pretty sick back to back days.10 points

Let me preface this with skiing on shitty conditions is better than doing most things...especially when you're skiing with good peeps. That was today. You know conditions are gonna be special when it's 745, you're walking to the lift from the lot and the first step on snow is your boot sinking ankle deep into sugar. First run on upper main was good. Lower main was trash from the onset. But to keep things interesting Curzis and Midway were filled with hard cookies before you actually hit the sugar. need to be on your toes for sure there. The snow on lower main is more brown than white. Lazy was decent. Coming soon top to bottom was ROTD with freshly blown snow. The lollipops came out on lower main at some point and the crowds descended. The race team was present.9 points

1/28/22…Day 4 of 7… With 27” new in the past 24 hours and 42” in the last 48 hours, stoke and the powder panic were off the chain this morning. We left for the hill at 7:25 and we’re booted and suited up before 8am…about 25th or so in the gondola singles line and waited and waited some more as the avalanche bombs were going off above. I had about three safety meeting while waiting and then sometime around 1045 we were finally given the all clear…only teewinot, sweet water and AV were operating and within a second all lifts open. We shared a gondola with quite the rowdy crew…one of the guys took two hits off my vape and they were drinking tequila out of a flask. Amphitheater was deep like a foot to a foot and a half of new snow and as I rounded the corner atomic Jeff was searching for his pole..luckily it was found fast. Thunder was about a full corral already as people were approaching thunder from Teton, Casper and the gondola. Up Thunder to the left side of Grand again which was untracked..not quite as deep as yesterday..only some face shots, not on every turn. It was like I was fucking two supermodels yesterday with another sitting on my face it was that good and today was like only fucking one supermodel with the others playing with each other. That’s until we took the Sublette chair to the Hobacks. Yes the Hobacks, what can I say except 2700 vert that’s never seen a groomer, about a mile wide. The Hobacks today was like I was the star of a reverse gangbang..each section got better and better. One area just got better and better, Atomic Jeff was snapping photos and when I passed him I just kept going for another two dozen of the lightest and deepest turns of the day..bottomless effortless delight, the kind of snow I’ll be telling my friends grandkids about one day. Still not as epic as the 22” day in 2016 but darn close. I stopped and took some pictures 2/3 of the way down then the last sections was just swaths of 1+ foot deep powder right to the cat track. It was off seeing NMSki off the cat track floundering in several feet of snow but he was able to make his way back to the cat track. I shouldn’t talk as I fell on my ass in the mens room earlier. Today was not a big vert day but it was super quality..people go on week long heli ski trips and don’t get the amount of deep powder we got the last two days. Apres ski today was at the Mangy moose and it was a fun time and we had nachos, I had a prime rib cheesesteak and 4 pitchers of beer were consumed and Nazareth Jay even got a free Pacifico draft that they brought to the wrong table and the waitress flirted hard with him, she either had daddy issues or was looking for a big tip..not just the tip lol picture time7 points

Skiing is always better than no skiing but the depth to the sugar is truly amazing. Toast was sinking down to mid boot walking out in the morning. Some good turns to be had but it could definitely use some cohesion.5 points

Some other saddleback pics. Had a run in with a pine tree. Saddleback is a really awesome place, unfortunately the stuff off the top like Casablanca never opened. Apparently the traverse is super sketchy so when its icy, they shut it down. Favorite day was Burke, maybe because I didn't know what to expect, but the snow and trails were awesome5 points

Last night was f*cking terrible. Boot high sugar piles on ice. Brutal. But I got 6 runs in with my niece so all good 🥰. Very proud of how much better she’s gotten since she first started. Look forward to going with her again soon with better conditions. Turned around and did double duty and was up this morning from 845-11 with cuzzie. Little better than last night and was only gonna get better as it got warmer.2 points

What BenM said..at this point I’m sure the main goal is to maintain what’s open unless there’s some serious arctic front.1 point

Nice pictures , I saw a few cumulus cloud wisps. Getting the itch to fly. The last three days there’s been a ton of bus traffic. Lot #6 had cars today too.1 point

1/27/22 Jackson Hole day 3 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. Me, Atomic Jeff, NMSki and Mute left for the mountain at 7:25am…arrived around 8am and were in line by 8:15am and were about 12-15 in the singles line for the gondola. Due to avalanche control work, the gondola didn’t open until about 9:50am as there was 16” of new snow as of the 6am report and several more inches. Up the gondola and Amphitheater which at first was knee deep then even deeper…was more of a weekend type of crowd with a lot more females than normal and high school kids playing hooky..the stoke was higher than cheech and Chong in Up in Smoke. People were letting out some serious orgasm noises…oh yeah oh yeah yewwww woo woo hee haw hee haw lol. First run I had prob 30 face shots… Thunder wasn’t running yet but started a few minutes later and went down the left side of Grand where all the Perder pictures were from. It was truly fantastic..prob 20-25” deep is my guess untouched. While fun, it was a workout and I was using muscles I didn’t even know I had. While I’m a very competent powder skier, it’s not often I get to ski snow this deep. Up Sublette and ten sleep bowl to the cirque and only a handful of people had been in this area. Again deep deep deep the line NMSki and Mute took further left was pretty epic and I was a little more to the right which ended in a gully choke full of..no not nuts..powder. Instead of skiing amphitheater back to the Thunder chair which was now completely filled with people and I’m sure totally skied off, we went left a bit down Nez Perce traverse then right into the south facing steep slopes leading back to the Thunder chair. It was mostly untracked but not as bonerific as Grand and the Cirque. By now Thunder had a really long line… Up Thunder and back to far left of Grand again, while not untracked like 45 minutes prior, probably half my turns were untracked so still alot of face shots and powder poofs. Got to the Sublette chair and it wasn’t running due to high winds near the top. We wanted to take Sublette to get the the hobacks but that means the Hobacks will be even better tomorrow as most people who take the hobacks take the Sublette chair as it has 4 times the uphill capacity as the Tram. We then took the south pass traverse to the north Colter ridge area which was mostly untracked but getting skied up…I didn’t have a fall but I had a bit of a spin out where I ended up facing uphill with my skis in a reverse snowplow..I’m an agile mofo so no issues getting turned back around. Then near the bottom my legs were really starting to feel it so I sat down for a few, text the boys that I’d meet them at the bottom and took a few pictures. Then skied the rest like a fucking champion..for a moment I was Owen Leaper skiing that lower mountain hippie bowl or Jean Claude Killy…union pass had a massive line..went to the base and was about noon…me and atomic Jeff decided to end on a high note and NMSki and Mute took one more run off the Gondola. You all might wonder where was the star of the trip, NazarethSkier Jay, woo jay had a nice leisurely breakfast and took his hotel shuttle to the hill and perhaps got even more fresh than us off the Teton lift and Saratoga bowl..while eating lunch at the Alpenhof he even FaceTimed AtomicSkier and he was so giddy it was like he got the golden ticket and didn’t even fall into the chocolate river. These are the best of times in Jackson hole. It wasn’t as light and dry as the 22” day back in 2006 but we skied way more untracked powder today and it was deeper. Tomorrow might even be deeper than today. Today was one of those days where the afterglow will last for days and weeks. I chose a good time to come here I will say as I picked the dates. A week earlier or a week later would be totally different. JADIP1 point

@NMSKI slutted it up so much on the first round of pictures he covered my lens in snow and it wouldn't focus on anyone else.1 point

Was up on Tuesday to use the Epic pass. Had been a few years since I was at Jack. Lodge hasn't changed at all. Not a whole lot was open, basically 7 trails. All were very firm and fast. Surprised that they skied off by noon with the light crowd. Best snow of the day was on Lehigh. Skied everything that was open except the Park. The 2 blacks were pretty good. My only complaint about Jack is that without the East side the trails are about the same, straight down, same head wall locations on all of them. Staff was all friendly, all in Vail coats. Was turning 10 minute laps (only 3 minutes longer than at BC). Worth the trip for weekday runs.1 point

TRAIL REPORT 1-27- Rolled in at 8:30 to a fairly mild morning, nice blue sky. Extremely surprised by conditions! Somehow they keep finding snow. No bare spots anywhere. Snow to start was pretty firm and fast. After a couple of runs on Kodiak went over to F chair side. Polar Bear was sweet, Timberline fast, Broadway also fast. Snow started to soften but remained fast and easy to set edges. Sasquatch was nice and firm and the wife decided to lap it a few times. No real ROTD as all of the trails were pretty much the same. Last run was Black Bear Park and it did not disappoint. Was surprised at the crowd today, was more like a Saturday than a Friday. Called it a day right before 11. Looking forward to tomorrow early!1 point

Conditions tonight were pretty meh...Semi frozen cut up slush with some sugar sprinkled on top...Got there around six and saw a shit ton of lessons/groups in the courtyard...Mainly just skied Timberline as it remained somewhat uncrowded with the previously mentioned folks...Skied for about an hour and a half....Good time tonight...It's the perfect set up for me..... @Johnny Law..This is where that super cool snack shack used to be...One of the old trails still runs behind it....1 point

Well, there was a fair crowd at times at the new lift. It's a pretty poor layout, having the readers so close to the lift. Whomever designed that wasn't too swift. When it was crowded, the attendants were "attempting" to group people who were already in the two-person grouping lines. It was a cluster and nobody was listening to them when they would try to get people to fill up chairs at that point, yelling at them to "GO! Fill up the chair!" They also put the SP trailer too close to the readers, so there's no real way to expand the reader lines, so they put up a fence which screws up that entire area. It's like they didn't even give any thought whatsoever as to how it was going to work or include any ideas from anyone who actually uses the lifts.1 point
