I had some time before going to work and went skiing. Windy Af, at like a 60 degree angle which made up top super slow. C1er in the house and I think that was it, I said hi to him but some rando in the middle knew me I guess and then I had to talk to him. They put the jumps back up on Razors and were still working on Challenge/falls. Everything except the ditch was slow as the wind was really working up the hill. First run down razors was more similar to last week but by the second run it was more of a traditional blue surface and the skis got the zoomies. Grip is still generally fantastic but more hardness coming through and it's getting loose alot quicker. I got 10 runs in and hr and half, with nice temps and no one out it was quite nice trying not to get blown off the mtn.6 points

Went down muleskinner and off into the trees next to it, which were wide open glades and really good snow. Tried hiking another spot but it was pretty deep too. Didn't take any pics on the glades but took a few on muleskinner and lower peachys peril. Boot is done for at least for now. The part where the set screw threads into is totally ripped out. Back at the car for a beer and figure out what to do next6 points

It's good this morning. About 3" up top. Did a few powdery groomers and then started to attempt the hike to the above treeline snow fields. After like 1000 feet of trudging through waist deep snow i felt something dragging at my boot...boa coiler hanging off. Shit...popped it back on but it's not coiling or loosening. Gave up on the hike after that. Heading out muleskinner and back to the base to see if I can fix it. If not I have a spare pair in the car although brand new so they are gonna hurt6 points

After lunch, I rode the Rangeley quad up and did a green trail to Wooly Bugger glades. Steep and tight trees up top, along with a couple bands of big rocks. Obviously didn't jump off any. It flattens out towards the lower part so I hiked back to a groomer and back to the Rangeley quad. Went down Green Weaver to the Kennebago quad and took a run down upper governor and over to Family Secret, which is under the lift line. Back to the top and then took the Firefly traverse to Dark Wizard glades. The first part is pretty steep and at least today, required a mandatory drop or straight line depending on where you drop in. Then hit Casablanca glades again and tight line after that. Took that all the way to the bottom, found a ton of powder on lower green hornet, but it's a mellow green trail so couldn't stop or mess around too much. Finished out the day riding groomers until 3. Hit Portage tap house in the next town over and had a flight and duck for dinner. Tomorrow is gonna be bitter cold and windy so I'll probably stick to the glades and some groomers. I won't do the hike to terrain again but doubt that'll be open anyway6 points

Hey All, I’m currently sitting in the Newark airport waiting for atomic Jeff to go through security and then off to Jackson hole on a 950am flight. In this thread I’ll post updates from our trip to Jackson hole. JFDan and NMSki are arriving on Thursday and Dirtwolf is arriving on Saturday. The forecast looks sunny the first few days and then snow in the forecast the last several days.5 points

So I'm not 100% sure how this would go. Every time I ski snowbowl its snowed, however the southwest has been experiencing one of the worst droughts in recent memory. Snowbowl, especially, has been dry as a bone really since November. Things have been bleak and I've been contemplating a @Johnny Law style plan b, which is to drive wherever the road takes me until I find actual snow, snow that the good lord placed upon a mountain top for winter sports enthusiasts like me to bask in. Then yesterday, as if it were a scene from "its a wonderful life", it happened.. 4 yesterday and some reports are saying up to a foot could fall this week. Just like that the excitement levels jumped 100 fold and it looks like I'll be parking it in Flagstaff and staying there. Yes no upper bowl and most likely limited if any 🌲 or off piste. I'll be lucky if the gondi line is open. But it's gonna snow, and snow it shall so hoping these next couple of days are filled with ear to ear smiles at the most bad ass ski resort this side of the grand canyon!4 points

Comfortable flight from EWR to JAC we arrived around 12:20pm and were at the snake river brewery by 1PM. We have the oversized jeep grand wagoneer as rental car. The mountain modern is clean and Boutiquey AF…it will do but I like the 49er better. There aren’t even drawers here or plastic cups but there are six coffee mugs and a chalkboard. Definitely was designed by some Live Love Learn Millenial.4 points

After swapping to a new pair of boots. I went back up the Rangeley quad...did a groomed run, then back up and did Green Weaver to nightmare glades. Great snow so I did that twice, followed by a run through Thrombosis glades. After that, I did green Weaver to upper and lower green hornet. Mostly untouched snow there but pretty flat and goes all the way to the bottom beginner lift. Got lunch at the cafeteria, chicken quesadilla and left shortly after 1. Checked out a few fishing spots on the way to Burke, but it was pretty windy and cold, so I didn't bother paying for the one day NH license and kept driving. Staying at the Burke hotel, had ribs and a Frost IPA at The Pass pub. Saddleback is one of my favorite places in the east and I'm glad I was able to hit the Casablanca stuff this time. Never got to the above treeline stuff but the steeper stuff was starting to get windblown after switching boots so probably wasn't great at that point.2 points

Truth be told, I personally haven't had one. Now if you mean when was our last snowfall, looks like January 12. We've had days with fresh snow, but not enough to call them powder days. I've only skied my "powder skis" a few times, mostly because they had the right wax on and the terrain wanted a more flexible ski. They have yet to see what they were designed for.2 points

Yesterday was great. Got there a little after 12 and got 9 good runs in before the shadows took over. A wide open and smooth Razors is a thing of beaty and held up great until almost 22 points

Driving to Albany later tonight then hitting Magic tomorrow. Staying in Maine Sunday and Monday nights, planning on Saddleback Monday and probably Tuesday unless I feel like paying for Sugarloaf or Sunday River. Staying at Burke Tuesday night and riding there Wednesday. Not sure on the plan after that. Either Jay or somewhere in NH Thursday then start making my way back and probably a short session somewhere Friday. Snow and beer reports to follow after tomorrow1 point

Dang. I hope you brought your own Bibles and also that Atomic Jeff brought one to read in your hotel rooms. What time does breakfast start? One time in Vermont I had to wait until 730 for breakfast and first chair was at 800. I had to eat really fast or miss the perder1 point

They do offer free replacements but I think its just the coiler and cable/laces and stuff. Where it threads into on the boot is broken/ripped out. I'll see if Burton will check it out. Not sure if thats a replaceable part. I'm sure it was user error so not too upset about it. I caught it on a few branches underneath the snow a few times1 point
