Get on some wide skis and go fast and use a lot of power in your turns and you should be just fine getting through the mashed potatoes..in a typical warmer ski season you're gonna encounter spring conditions a lot so might as well work on your mashed potato skiing. Get forward and power through them.

GSS, guessing don't make it so. We used to have national events here, but even the lodging and food being added in didn't counteract the cost of course prep, additional personnel, etc.

Loveland doesn't make money on their own race program. What they do make money on is renting lanes to external race teams early and late season when other resorts are not in operation.

What actually happened is they dropped the speed events and the NorAms entirely. They have spun off the teams to the parents. Parents now pay all the coaches' salaries. Not sure on if the mountain is providing events support for free or what, of course, it's always been mostly volunteers. They still allow training on the hill on the weekend. They still provide space for offices and kids locker room. Oddly, Siblet made more after the spin off than before and still got a free lift tickets and employee prices on food. Now, she's out of it, of course, being back in school.

 

If Whitefish loses money in racing they should have discontinued it. Generally race kids have a giant sense of entitlement so most mountains would be better off without them cutting the lines and zipping in and out of goobers.

We can't do that because of Forest Service agreements.

 

Hey, did you see we came in at #11 in the latest SKI mag poll, ahead of Aspen??? LOL! That's probably because we had snow last year and all the Coloradans had to come here or to Big Sky. Hopefully, the fame will go away.

I know it doesn't mean squat, and it can change on a dime, but the end of the ten day is starting to look more promising in the NE... A-Basin opens tomorrow...

 

seriously, why do you even bother to look at the 10 day?....its a huge guess, and way more often then not, its wrong.. might as well have GSS tell you what its going to be like 10 days from now.

More snow in tahoe than in late December year. It's raining today. WTF. Good thing I like to get wet.

 

Most north lake areas got up to 3 feet, Squaw is open (1 lift) today for a $20 ticket. More storms next week, looks good for a thanksgiving opening.

Just heard a possible 4-6" for Philly outta this storm? A sweet Obummer victory followed by a snowfall???????? It just keeps getting better!!!! Any chance for snow in teh Pokeys?
