Here with a friend. Mainly groomers here with limited bump/natural terrain open. Relatively light crowds yesterday. Stupid crowded today. Started day at 0 degrees so everyone riding Gondi after 20+ minute wait. Us being brilliant people rode the lifts on the other side of the hill with no lines and rolling on playful choppy whales. Eating now. Will finish afternoon lapping this away from crowds. I would be pumped if Stratton was a local PA hill but for a Vt ride ehhh

Got to Blue just a bit after 7 pm and parked in the Upper lot for convenience in case Pops wanted to visit his mug up at the Last Run Lounge before heading out. Booted up inside for the same reason and on the snow by 730ish. Had a nice run down Burma and skied though the Yeti bypass to see what they put in there. A small flush to the snow box and a second one sticking up just a bit with a tiny ride on ramp were in there. Snow was nice, a bit scraped off in the corners but not nearly as bad as one could expect during hour 12 of operation during a holiday week. Took it down to the valley and up the 6 for a run down Paradise. Another enjoyable run, spent most of it on the edges of the trail where there was plenty of loose snow to be had and minimal scraped areas. Sixer back up and over to Lazy. Had some gullets and humps formed at the top of the trail, I guess from people cutting in from both sides, but nothing that couldn't be handled easily and the trail cleaned up immediately and was in great shape, even on the hard right at the bottom. Over and down the Falls and I think that's when we took our one quad ride. They had a couple of cats pushing out Razors, so looks like that one's just a matter of days. Guns were blazing on NightWeaver and they were getting awesome production. Hopped off the quad and took a run down Sidewinder. Lots of fun and really looking forward to getting some more runs on it this year as a ski trail. Enjoyed the run but was definitely the most scraped run we found all night; Challenge and Chute looked like they were probably scraped more bare, but we didn't hit those. After a second trip over the Falls we stopped for the first waffle of the season before going back up the six to hit Main St. Found plenty of loose snow coating Main st and easy to read wear patterns that made it a cinch to stay off the smooth surfaces. Upper Main was great and Lower Main had minimal chop, but got a little spicy for me as my goggles iced up right in the area where the upcoming trail fills my field of vision, coupled with going through a dark spot skier's right that made the small chop tough to read (through icy gogs.) Took the double back up and noticed they had a single gun pointed into each of the glades. Looks like their really aggressively taking advantage of these cold temps this week. There was a ton of base being pushed out on Razors, and some nice whales sitting on Widowmaker, although with the micro-micro-climate and waist deep powder that trail always has, they probably don't need it and I wonder why it's not open yet. Come around over to Burma, and jumped on the double again. Talked about cutting out, but decided conditions on Main were so good we wanted to get another run. Patrol was doing a sideslipping drill on the right side, but plenty of room for a last fast, fun run back to the double. Well, Last if you don't count Easy Out and .5Vista back to the lodge. As hard as I had to work to skate through all the fresh man-made at the top of the double, I'm counting it, lol, for 8 runs and got back in the lodge just after 9. Decided against hitting the bar and just headed out. Run of the day was Main St followed by Burma. Likely back on the snow Thursday night.

saltyant is already one of my favorite PASR's. he is the poster this site has been waiting for. before he came, there would be like 10 posts per day, with 3 each coming from me, doug, and toast.

great morning today with everyone that was there. snow was great since they were blowing on some stuff still. mainstreet was amazing. razors was meh but for a first opening id say it was excellent. definitely props to the snowmakers. got some real nice product coming out of the guns this week. 9:15 had lines already but nothing major. ski-po took someone out before they even opened basically. person came down from top at opening and got wrecked, somehow, on a whale at the bottom of the park right by the lift.... almost made it. peed at my van and left. family van pulled in right after and dude opened his door up to mud. woops

I like these waxes. Simple too. Red when it’s warm, green to go fast in the cold. The flouro waxes are faster for sure.

My favorite weather to ski in is this order.. #1. Rider of the storm day.. #2. Bluebird pow day..right after a storm but some stuff left natural #3. True spring day 55+ degrees..mashed potatoes soft bumps #4. Mad goldilocks..that perfect 35 degrees where it's just so comfortable out and the snow is soft and fast. #5 Day like today..cold and good snow #6 Skiing in the rain #7 After a freeze when the snow is bulletproof.. #8 skiing in sleet and freezing rain. #9 not skiing

It will cost more than that for your skis and clothes to fly Frontier.

We also heard that someone fell off the Burma chair near the top (fell asleep?) yesterday/last night and had to be MedEvac'd out. Always use the safety bar!

Most of the guns were blowing pretty good snow, but some were on the wetter side or the temps came up a bit, and that made for some sandblasting on the face or glazing on the goggles, but the snow beneath the ones with a good mix was spectacular.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I'd rather not ski amoung blasting snow guns..that's why I only skied lazy mile once today.

I'm laughing at the title of this. I'll add a little to the report. I arrived at Blue mountain the true mountain at 7:25am and it was 11 degrees out and the snowguns were blasting all over including lazy mile, switchback, nightmare to dreamweaver, Central Park and tuts lane. It wasn't as windy as yesterday and in the house were Toast, Shadows, Matt Edge, Root, Nastar Glenn, Indiggio, Slim and many others. Very nice snow on the majority of the terrain. Challenge was pretty nice firm cord, Main Street and lazy had velvety fresh manmade..was almost like a powder day it was so nice. Paradise was good but got busy and sidewinder was super nice early. The sun came out eventually and rose the temperatures through the teens but the winds are picking up as well..the amount of snowmaking taking place at Blue is gargantuan next level shit..I skied 7 runs the first 56 minutes just like yesterday had 10'runs in by 920am and then the pace slowed a little but I still ended up with 14 runs by 10:10am then went to the lot had a beer or two and cookie provided by JFDan and home before noon..was a good session today I should be back tomorrow AM.

That was the maximum amount I would spend to ski with SaltFace. It's yours now.

i totally forgot blue opens at 8 this week. i would have showed up at 8:05 tomorrow and be pissed off seeing people already riding lol.

Jeff was even saying he didn't see indiggio at all and I said the bumpers sometimes ride the Main Street chair and I was right lol.

I had a birds-eye view of Jeff's disintegration, as I was riding up the Main Street lift just clearing Midway when I saw it happen. I was wondering what was left up the hill, as it was too small to be goggles. Luckily that little kid coming down Midway had enough speed to cross the slide. Good to hear Jeff's ok! Snow was superb all over the mountain, save the bumps, which were ok first thing, but went right down to the icebergs after a few runs. Lazy in the afternoon was ridiculous crowded. It was a weave and bob the entire run, bordering on the danger zone with the number of people on it.
