toast21602 Posted January 31, 2020 Report Posted January 31, 2020 For those of you familiar with Glen Onoko, here is a picture of the train station that used to be there. It was built to handle the tourists who would come to visit the Lehigh Gorge and surrounding areas. At the time in the late 1800s it receives as many visitors as Niagara Falls and was one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. 6

toast21602 Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I love Blue Mountain even more now. 3 1
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 21, 2020 Author Report Posted February 21, 2020 Ray Tuthills generation were big time train lovers. My grandfather had various model trains and a model trolley as well...this is grate.
RidgeRacer Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I always thought it was cool of Blue to pay homage to Carbon County's rich history with that trail name. Would be neat if there were more trail names along those lines...Maybe Coming Soon Will be called "Olympian" in honor of Jim Thorpe, or maybe "Zinc"?
enjoralas Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 Switchback Railways were the original names given to rollercoasters. The Mauch Chunk railway is widely credited with being the first modern rollercoaster, as most don’t count the Russian ice slides as being too different in concept and operation 2
