Ahhh another year at the ice fest. Was great to break up the trip staying in CB first. Left nice and early this morning to make sure we got a spot at the top lot and so we got a good spot in line at the demo tents. After getting my crampons and tools I decided to also demo a very warm Rab puffy. Took it off for climbing but when belaying or standing around had it on and it made all the difference. Very cold today. Three of us were on time and ready for the clinic, the other 3 people showed up 10 min late and did not have on their harness or crampons on. How fucking annoying! Then we descended into the gorge. That is always super sketchy. At the bottom looking what we just came down. I belayed 3 people before I climbed, so my arms were tired when I started. I had a hard time with my first climb and didn’t get very high. Second one was better but still not great. I’m calling today a warm up day and hopefully tomorrow I will get higher and be more relaxed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk5 points

One time I drove with @RootDKJ and @Shadows to Belle when it snowed 2'+ and they closed down after a few runs because they lost power. We got deep turns, moderately buzzed, and had a grand time.4 points

This is one of the most bizarre things that I've seen in a very long time. It's almost as if a former, disgruntled Men's Journal employee hacked into their website, removed Lake Placid and added Tannersville to F with them.2 points

If you start at 8:30 and ski until 12:30, you'll have no problem doing 15 - 20 runs. 20+ runs if it's as uncrowded as I'm hoping it will be. Eat ribs around 1:00 then.... Now I know when to light the 🔥..2 points

i didnt mention this yesterday cause it put me in a bad mood, but today im laughing about it. my dumbass arrived at blue at 8:25 am yesterday to see the lifts not spinning. i checked their facebook and no updates, logged on here and saw they were closed. i checked their facebook like 5 times on the drive up and saw nothing, but its my fault for not checking the website, i should know better. only the second time ive ever showed up at the mountain and it was closed, last time was at camelback and i just drove to montage for $10 tuesdays. to make matters worse, i decided to try the palmerton route home. i made a wrong turn and ended up in like schencksville and walnutport and orefield lol. once i got home it was like 10 am, so while i wasted gas and tolls, i would have slept in til that time anyway so no huge deal. riding bear later that night made up for it2 points

Sticky snow is cheaper - more gallons per minute at a given temperature means denser snow that doesn't till as nicely, but lasts longer, builds up quicker, and costs less. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk2 points

About 2 miles. Even from the bottom of the Stevenson? It would be close to the length of the lift at sugarbush that connects Lincoln to mt Ellen1 point

Correct. Slow lifts but I still get approx. 35 runs in if I ski from 8-4.1 point

Camelback has to be paying a fortune to get in magazines, and get voted as “best place to learn to ski”. I have never read mens journal, other than this article, so one must assume shopping and waterparks are higher on thier list of things to do than skiing. The half of the friends that do ski will find themselves dissapointed.1 point

Thanks for the add on tp4. Wrapped it up for the day, the knee issue is a little bigger than I initially thought. Used a brace and still started to downhill fast. All in all it was a good day. Bear is in surprisingly good shape considering all the rain we had yesterday. Ticket was free so nothing to really complain about.1 point

Complains about thread jacking yet derails damn near everything on this board....ok. And STFU about Blue (for once) as if its the only place that has "prime spring skiing". And to everybody else... I didn't even realize what thread I was replying in, honest mistake.1 point
