  1. Today was excellent. Quinnesential spring skiing. Rode from 9-12. Only the quad was running, sometimes had 20 second lines. Coming soon was un groomed and not too good. Paradise was excellent. Nightweaver was excellent and ROTD. Razors was excellent. Challenge was ok but I only did that once. Sidewinder was closed. Switchback was excellent but may get the knockout blow in the next few days. Didn’t hit Main Street but shit stain looked big.

  2. I had a call until 905 so I didn't make first chair, I yelled to TP4 when he was going to the quad but I was too slow and he was on a mission to crush razors. I saw C1er from the lift and 1/2 of the boom crew was there. No sun so not quite as hot as yesterday but very similar snow. Alas I regret to inform all that after a long hard battle Sidewinder has passed. Switch is holding down the tradition and it was top flight kinda conditions. Challenge was great as was Razors though in 4 tries I couldn't get a middle section without goobers. Someone said it was instructor training but they couldn't link two Chris Christie's together. Rotd was raceway, le chute, lower, with only the quad it was empty and I haven't ridden the loser lift in forever. Super super nice morning with old school crowds.

  3. Another 6-8” overnight. Did a nice little morning ski from my front door. My side of the neighborhood is always last to be plowed. Here is what my street looked like. A little less work on the return as I used my own tracks My dog loves to just chill in the snow I think Aspen recorded 24”. We got a solid 16-18” in 36 hours Double post of this pic I can’t seem to delete

  4. A few weeks ago I won Platty vouchers at the Tele Colo movie and figured what better way to celebrate World Telemark Day on Tele Sunday. The ride up on the back roads yielded a mix of sun, clouds and fog along with a bald eagle snatching up a squirrel along root 42. Arrived to a socked in Platty with the sun trying to burn thrugh but it never quite happened, temps in the mid / upperer 50's. Started on the double and ended up lapping Blockbuster. Although the entrance was a little spicy there was good coverage once you got onto the trail. bumps (*) on the left side were soft and manageable. Short beer/water break and then rode the face off the triple, good coverage and mix of nice spring snow with some sticky man made here and there. Tele'd until lunch, chicken pesto wrap and ascension pils were bangin'. Legs were cooked after ten tele runs so clamped down the heels for another 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Nice day with a beverage stop as Catskill Brewery on the way home, love that place! * bumps photo credit lifted from @Harvey at nyskiblog - i couldn't find the sun lol

  9. Went for a few laps at The Camel. Lots closed, thin in lower runouts stockpiled around the mad horizontal turns. Hump, Birches, Asp and others were closed. They finally built a couple nice jumps and put in some jibs. They've got a lot of moving snow around the fill in the thin runouts but they should be able to do it. They shouldnt have pulled the houses off the mountain as soon as they did. They may or may not be able to push the 1 or 2 usual weekends past Blue. VID_113110529_220314_889.mp4

  14. Arrived at 9 after an uneventful trek down 6 and 81. Ticket line was long with only 2 windows open and they were running a forklift through the line against OSCA regulation(assuming). They had a bunch of people going different directions for the breakdown and clean up after the concert yesterday. Beer cans and bottles everywhere. Started at Iron Horse with plans to run Fast Track all the way down but we couldn’t get to it without skating uphill. With 3 boarders and 3 kids in the group, that wasn’t going to happen. All the main runs were open, some with thin coverage, but the connectors and little trails in the woods are closed. Def had to skate a little more than usual trying to get places. Ended up going down the terrain park to Lower FT for the first run. Only did Runaway for the other lower slope and never made it over to Phoebe. I wanted to at least show them Boomer but the kids were having a fun on Easy Street with the side cuts. Weather was warm but cloudy all day. No lift lines or under a minute across the hill. The Salami Slalom was going on and got a kick out of watching from along Haul. Open entry for unlimited runs and just had to get two times the closest or exact for victory. Last pic we enjoyed someone parking perpendicular to every other car in the lot. Zero fucks given

  19. Hey all, I’m back from another fun day at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at like 712am and only JLaw and Maryland liftee in the house..not to fear many many more PASRs arrived. The temperature was in the mid 40s under partly sunny skys. First civilian quad to challenge which was pretty smooth and a little soft. Good enough for a repeat then Main Street which was super nice soft cord on top and a little choppier spring snow lower down with some skeet spots. I also repeated that then over to coming soon which was nice chop. Sidewinder was very pleasent and I skied that a few times, a few bare spots, lazy mile was smooth and fast..and empty I think because the OG six pack wasn’t running. There were a few liftlines on the quad, as enjorales said, when the OG six pack isn’t running, they have less lift capacity than two years ago. Skiing stayed well and I pressed on repeated the runs that were nice which was almost everything…I ended up skiing I believe 15 runs by 1030..would have been about 17 if not for the lines. Fun parking lot today with a sausage Sunday and Maryland guy gave me a patch with a bird he made cause I’m an early bird..well I sure got the worm today. Rumor has it this is the last week of weekday operation then weekends only, with the forecast it could be possible…so just gotta enjoy every day. I’ll likely be back at Blue Tuesday AM. JADIP

  20. Today was one of the best of the season for sure. Just so much fun to blast off stuff in the slush and it's been awhile since we had nice lot weather. Switch was primo but side was the real treat. Super good mix of brown, rollers to get air and hero snow to push the hammer all the way down. I could have run those two forever. Nothing better than coming back from the double dip to shrimp and chicken skewers. Today was a mad good one to be out of the hill.

  21. measured 7” on front porch, backyard seems to have more. Lots of wind. I see reports the gondola line at Aspen is backed up to the bus stop (about 2 city blocks plus the stairs to gondola) and Snowmass is just as bad. Supposed to snow all day again today and lightly throughout the week. Happy to see some winter here again. Was starting to see the bare road peeking through in my neighborhood.

  22. Drove up to our AirBnB in Pleasant Mount last night with no issues. House is 3 miles back on dirt roads which we weren’t expecting. Take out from the Speakeasy Saloon was good. Burgers and Buff Chix pizza were stars but the calamari and loaded fry appetizers missed the mark. Up first thing but radar was all hunter green and sucked. Plan was to wait for a gap and the hourly said it was 2-6. Upper lot was open when we showed up at 1230 and got to park close. New this year was buy one get one tickets compared to free comped tickets from The Warren Miller film. We’re here with another family and it came to $293 for the day. The one you have to buy is an 8 hour ticket(~$90) plus 3 RFID cards, even though we would have been fine with the 4 hour pass but that’s the deal. 80% of the people on the hill were racers for an event. Up Seneca for the first lift and then we hung on the quad side to avoid the racers. Couple trails had zero snow lookers left but most had edge to edge coverage. Upper Tunkhannock was closed but lower was open and I love slutting it up for the lift. Started skiers left and worked our way over until soaked through around 5. All hero snow and a good time. Thought about doing the doll house here but no PASR discount is wild. House ended up with a precious moment shrine anyway. Over to Montage tomorrow.

  23. Shawnee 3/1/24. Empty. Full sun made it hot and sweaty with a side of ski tan. Great snow. Thankful that they allow uphill travel here M-F. Skinning to the top of F lift is always my favorite way to finish the day. It is almost never open but there is always snow up to it from the side. IMG_6334.MOV

  24. https://www.media.pa.gov/pages/DCNR_details.aspx?newsid=1039 potential "new" touring area in PA. 2500 acres, with logging roads, 1300 vertical foot pipeline cut, and some old ski trails. I did read one article that mentioned opening it up to skiing, biking, and hiking. I would be neat if they allowed some glade clearing like some of the touring associations do in new england.

  25. At Montage last week I got to talking with an older dude who was waiting for his grandkids to show up- says he knows Elk's owner personally, even did some contractor type work for him years ago- says he's such a cheapskate that when those lifts broke down last year he fixed them with used parts not new ones, to save a little money! so he won't ski there anymore- says owner's 91 y.o. & the guy's daughter is heavily involved & may take over some day- he's heard nothing about a sale & doesn't believe the old man would anyway. He also said that the owner was so pissed about a nearby condo development going up that he banned the condo owners from skiing at Elk- which was the reason most bought their condos to begin with- wtf!

  27. Nice report…Chris Christie is a legend and glad he’s officially entered the world of ski technique. Nice that the boom crew is out, while Harold is the strongest skier of the group, Bethlehem Ford guy has the most elegant technique and therefore he’s the Jean Claude Killy of the group.

  31. 03/01/2024 - Whistler Woke up to another 4” of snow in the village and reporting 8”+ up top. Typical morning walk over to Moguls for breakfast sangwitches, failed to mention this place earlier. Gold for us as they open at 7am, only bested by Starbucks, but the girls at Moguls are locals, so why make a conglomerate any richer? Breakfast bagel and cinnamon roll, delicious and recommended. Up the Whistler gondy, anince we had yet to ride it, into heavy blowing snow at its top. Of course it had to stop for a bit midway. Took a warm-up run down towards Big Red, which shortly diverted into a bump run filled with freshies, wonderful! Headed down towards Emerald, we found some untouched down Ratfink and Dapper with drops into Coyote woods. We kept alternating between Big Red and Emerald, looking for trees and stashes on both. We thought it was gonna be a crowded disaster, but it turned out not to be too bad, with only a 30 minute moving line to the Whistler gondy and 10-15 minute waits at the other lifts. Unfortunately with the blowing and fallen snow, the upper lifts were closed. Dinner was back to the Old Spaghetti Factory for some seafood pasta primavera. Whistler is a huge place, unfortunately with huge crowds to boot. It also didn’t help it’s been a bad snow year and people chomping to get out since many have tickets to use. It’s interesting to hear/notice all the different people who come here, everywhere from Australia to Britain, in both directions! It probably wouldn’t have been so crazy had they had a decent snow year. Regardless we all had a grate time and lots of fun, hoots and hollers.

  34. Rode from 9-1 today. Least crowded day of the year, worst conditions of the year, and windiest day of the year. A very fun time though. Snowmaking cannons were blasting on a bunch of trails. Definitely cool to experience the once in a lifetime opportunity of riding on February 29th. It was like the hailie’s comet of ski days

  38. Beautiful bluebird day here at elk. Spectacular semi soft spring like snow. Sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Cool to see that they have a modern ticketing system now although the kiosk would scan my barcode so had to go to guest service. Unfortunately the quad above tunk is down so they're running that slow ass double. Either way I'm in no rush today. Always like coming up here. Especially on days like this

  40. Was watching radar and hoping the rain moved through after the heavy stuff was done but no dice. Fog was thicc on the top half and rain slowed but didn’t quit. Fam skied an hour before we were soaked through. Maybe 15 people on the hill and 12 of them were lapping the park. Snow was nice and wet but becoming dirty with the warmth. Couple skeet spots on Switch poking through and Razors was closed. No practice going on though so not sure why. Challenge is quite dark in the middle.

  42. This morning was really fantastic. No real lift lines, not much traffic on the slopes, sun shining after the first few lift rides, good grooming, freshly blown ditch, chatty boomers, mild temps. Quite enjoyable.

  45. Today was one of the better days this season, side is fantastic with all the rollers, you can stich together like 7 airs in one rip. My favorite though is straight thugging switch and it was 90% excellent today. Coming Soon was surprisingly good as was main. While I can't lie the skiing is superior DV ain't got shit on shooting the shit in the lot.
