1/26/21..empty..nice snow..precipitation.

Hey All,

 

I’m back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 820am after a drive where the roads were completely empty.  It was in the upper 20s under overcast sky’s.  In the house were Atomic Jeff, Toast, BenM, Bethlehem Ford Guy and Charles.  

 

First civilian six pack and down the carpet also known as challenge. Woo it was good..not too hard not too soft..just right..yeah mad Goldilocks. I skied that a few more times then hit up razors which had similar conditions. After about three runs it started to sleet, then snow and more sleet.  A benefit to masks is that the sleet doesn’t burn when skiing 50mph. 

 

I also skied a run on Switchback which was very nice and lower widowmaker to midway also very nice with a skiff of freshies.  Was nice having basically ski on chairlifts and experiencing a little bit of winter weather with nice visibility.  I skied a total of 8 runs in an hour and ten minutes..no parking lot beers today. Back to work like a dork.  JADIP

Dang, if you bombed Challenge you could have skied 8 runs per hour but because of those stupid gates you can only ski 7 runs per hour.

Like 7.5 is possible in an hour if you stick to the front face.

Hard to beat those runs this morning. The grooming was spot on and the snow was fantastic. It’s been a while since both razors and challenge have been lappable like that. 
 

Snowflakes for some of the morning made it quite enjoyable.

10/10 conditions for Blue this morning.  Challenge was western grooming this morning.  No ridges, no holes, just perfectly smooth cord.

Looks pretty nasty up there now..freezing rain. In seasons past they’d probably close early today due to the weather but not happening now with a couple hundred night tickets sold.

I was up in the afternoon as I couldn't do this morning, snow was good, weather is shit. I did about an hour and half and then called it as I was gross wet.

Skied from 930-130. Snow was amazing! Skiers left of Main Street was like butter. We only stopped because we couldn’t see anymore with ice build up on goggles. The 6 was down in the afternoon. They said due to ice buildup.

Nope. It was sleeting, and we had a very long tailgate yesterday. We’ll make up for it tomorrow 😎

Have to make the best of what we have. No trips out west, going to Vermont in February and maybe late March.

Skied from 530-745 in 28° light rain. Snow was good and it was empty. We’ve graduated from Valley School to Vista this week and were lapping that until they closed the Vista chair at 7. The kid had no issues on Vista so moved on to Burma with success. Giving Paradise a shot next but Vista felt great instead of the Valley Hill.

Didn’t really notice the rain since we were skiing slower. Outer wear was soaked by the end of the session though.

Tonight was about as good as night skiing gets, smooth fast and empty! Everything ski’d great except razors was only good - it started setting up and got a little choppy, but still good

Any predictions for tomorrow night. Doesn’t look like it’s going to get cold enough to ice over tonight plus it should be party sunny and in the 30s tomorrow. I’m hoping it’ll be soft around 5pm?

Hope is what Obama brought us..when the sun goes down tomorrow night will ice up.

im hoping for the same. Give me a shout if you see me in the park or lifteline, i'll be wearing this jacket.

I was up today from 11 to 130, really good snow and not super crowded. 

Razors and switch were mint, fast wetter snow that's smooth and has good grip. Upper main was the only shitty snow with a solid coating of cookies but only marble sized. 

I'm trying to get up tomorrow for open
