  2. Just got home from what was probably the best PA powder day of my life. I have only been to Elk once before roughly 15 years ago. I left for Elk with grass showing and light flurries in Stroudsburg, things changed immediately after hitting the Mt Pocono line getting onto 380. The ride was smooth but sketch once off 81 and headed up to Elk. I ended up every so gently sliding my truck onto the shoulder less than 0.5 miles from the parking lot in an awefully precarious way. I came to a stop in the worst possible spot roughly 2 feet from a corrugated pipe culvert that if I had fallen into, would have ended my day. Fortunately a suby with two burly skiers stopped and was eager to attempt to give me a push away from the ditch. Their efforts worked. I thanked them profusely and within less than 5 minutes from dead stuck without help to back on course! I arrived in the upper lot, because I had no idea where to park or claim my tickets at 9:00am. Now that I am reacquainted with Elks layout, in the future I'd opt to park at the Quad lot. I found my way to the robot that spit out my 4 hour admission for the day. It's kind of strange having no interaction to get on the slopes these days when visiting new resorts but I kind of like it. I made my way up the B lift and without a clue where to turn at the top with low visibility I followed the sounds of fellow steezers shouting "OMG, This is amazing!" "Leave the edges home today!" Which led me onto Delaware cutting fresh tracks but craving more pitch! At first sight of a black diamond trail sign I found myself making my way down Tuscarora floating down with a shit eating grin, knowing for certain now that I had made the best possible decision today. The following few runs I hit the rest of the blacks on the double chair side before making my way over to the quad where the real goods were to be found. ROTD was unquestionably Chippewa as one of the few black diamons Elk seemingly leaves completely ungroomed through the season to bump up. The falling snow and the wind had this run set up perfectly with the VW sized bumps filled in with fresh and frequent near knee deep drops surfing the tops of each powder bump. Nose up and pointed downhill and those giant hard VWs under the fresh were of no concern to tripping up an advanced steezer. My only regret today was being cheap saving $13 buying a $67 4 hour ticket instead of the full $80 ticket for the extra fee hours. Today was paradise.... If you blindfolded me and took me to Elk today I would swear on my life I was at a small New Engla d or Upstate New York resort. INCREDIBLE. Still dumping when I left, prob a rate of 0.25-0.6"/hr the entire time. The grass picture was the Tannersville exit for Camelback on the way home. Elevation was everything for this storm.

  3. Just got back from a quick afternoon session. Arrived around 1215, it was 34 at the lower lodge. The first lift was surprisingly deceptive. It looked like there was cord. First run was down lazy and it was firm, lots of dust, but you had to hunt to find it. Ended up doing about 5 runs in an hour, the wind was working against me to get downhill. Upper main was rock solid but lower had a nice little pocket on the side. We talked about double dipping for tonight but not sure.

  4. On the B chair for 2nd run. Late start slid in a ditch 2 miles from the lot and required the assistance of 2 kind men who stopped to push me out. More to come... this is the most legit PA pow day ever.....

  8. I can see through the darkness Montage is also now getting pounded. It was white out from exit 53 on I-80 until exit 19 then completely green all the way into Stroudsburg. My decision has been made and I am leaving for Elk in a few min. The snow that piled up there on the cam the past few hours is pretty dramatic. Hope the rest of the PASR powder slooots get some fresh tracks this am!!

  15. Skied 6-7 for 6 runs. MBike and Bunski were walking out when I got there and Chuck was on his way out. Mad sticky icky icky including a full tuck down Falls that didn’t even let me make it to Homestretch. Did wax the twigs Friday so thought it wouldn’t be that bad. Stayed on steeper stuff and where there was fresh snow, it was fun but slow. Top of Razors was complete blown off so it was an interesting start. Beer Fairy surprised me with a Frost Plush so worth it 😍

  16. Alas. At least we still have Frost, Hunter, Okemo, Snow, Stowe, Sunapee, Wildcat, Vail, Breck, BC and Keystone to ski. Planning on another month of turns and hoping to make it my 2nd most days yet in a Skison. Was considering giving Blue a go Friday for $45, but sounds like they got crap from this storm. Will likely hit Frost or Hunter instead.

  25. With the howling wind and lack of anything but a potential for wet snow I have no desire to leave the house right now but I hope you have a great time up there. Should be better further north.

  26. I skied from 10-3. Definitely hero snow everywhere. It was foggy, but not awful. I’m a little disappointed, seems this next snowstorm gonna miss us. ☹️

  29. It was cool seeing the blizzard conditions at Blue on the webcams while there was barely a flurry in Allentown..reports are that 15 minutes north of Blue it snowed 6-10”+…that’s the cool thing about nor Easter’s is that sharp cut offs but we generally do better snowfall wise with Alberta clippers. WTGAI all that braved todays weather.

  30. #3 at 7 pm, and it looks like its just flurries now. Hearing 10” on the web, and saw @RidgeRacer reported 10, so i would say that verifies. About twice what i thought might come down.

  34. Thanks for the detailed report. It was grate living vicariously through your radical perder pictures as mere mortals like most of PASR are stuck starting at computer screens and have to do the work of shoveling instead of trailblazing fresh perder lines. Elk is a magical wonderland, basically the same as skiing Vermont. It's crazy you no longer need human interaction to buy a pass. They've sure come a long way from the days of their 1990s style website. These are the best days, you will always remember this day at Elk and when you saw a Jerry being disappeared into the deep pow pow.

  37. How many times have we been let down this season? Bring on the spring skiing, sunset sessions at this point. Will take that any day over howling wind and wet slop. So over EC weather.

  38. Sounds like the juice was worth the squeeze. I was at work the whole day, something that’s happened way more than I like during ski season. I did get a hug from an old lady, she didn’t want a handshake she said,”give me a snuggle” sheesh

  39. I've spent all afternoon analyzing my best options and I've decided it is going to be either Blue The True or Elk with the call being made while monitoring web cams and the weather through the night! I'm thinking Elk given its significantly higher elevations and low popularity might be the nearby gem on this one.
