  1. hey its only been 2 years. doing alright. got two vans at least. Just cold right now

  2. Temp at 8* when we started. Brisk 20+ mph winds. Triple layer player. On mountain at 10:15. About 30 season passholders and 30 ticket purchasers. Conditions were firm with decent cord, no cookies, and some blown powder. Skied all open trails (9) really only three from the top. Trails of the day we're upper Tunk and Susquehanna. Needless to say, No Lift Lines... Sun is now out. Beer is cold and tasty.

  9. So GSS may be a zinc-ie?
    3 points
  10. Zinc-ies have to be from that area but not all people from that area are Zinc-ies, its the LV equivalent of Reading's Mushroom pickers. I'm not sure exactly how to describe them but there is a certain subset of people at blue that you can just tell are Zinc-ies. It's kinda like a townie but more redneck less wanna be gangster. If you met that instructor girl last year that was straight up thirsty for it (particuarly NMSKI lol) she was a Zinc-ie though maybe slightly too educated. A good clue your talking to a Zinc-ie is when the conversation is over and your main thought is WTF.

  11. This is scary accurate.....I'd add the sketchiest run on the hill is the burma lift line, bigger than it looks drop to cinder block filled gully, toast almost took my head off....most difficult thing I've ever done on boots is shit in the old Killington bathrooms at Ramshead IIRC, shitter was like on the floor which with boots on put you in this like aggressive hover/squat technique and the door was .7 inches away from the end of the toilet. If you gotta drop the cosby kids off while skiing that's an automatic level 4 because it's going to take at least 3mins to get all your gear off now imagine you ski all day and you can't even take a load off when your taking a dump, I mean all the shitting angles were just way off......if I was smart I think I would have crafted a couple of prusik like devices out of TP and shit in comfort.......

  21. Widowmaker should be a double black.....always titties deep with pow. Most average skiers at Blue dont carry avy gear. Somewhere off of Burma should be marked as a black diamond as well. Where switchback meets main street should be a double black, usually after about 10 am on a weekend. This should probably apply to the top of Falls too. The new trail will be a double black as well, i am sure of it. Honeybee bowl is a black or double black. Maybe triple black. take your pick.

  31. Don't listen to anyone here, not even me. All they do is yell out some ski they had they thought was dope and even half decent skiers could get a fucking 2x4 down the hill. What do you like about your current skis ? What do you not like about your current skis ? What radius do you prefer ? What do you want to do with these skis ? Do you want a ski you have to drive all the fucking time or something more playful ? There is an enormous amount of bullshit out there about skis and at least in my mind it only really comes down to three things, radius, stiffness throughout the ski and shape/dimensions. I have skis across the radius, from 11 sl skis to 35+ big mtn ak skis and I've used them all at Blue for certain things. 203 shiros were redic redic when it went to random ass piles at say lower main st, they simply did not care but they also didn't really carve until I got them moving because my ass doesn't weigh enough or ski well enough for that kind of radius. SL skis are super dope but your going to make 100000 turns and be out of gas about half way down most runs. Skis that do everything tend to do everything ok but nothing amazing. Find out what radius your looking for and think about do I want one ski for everywhere I go or a quiver. Identify well made skis that fit your criteria and then go from there. Waist dimension is not nearly as important as people think, unless your racing or carve like AS it ain't going to mean shit. Do not listen to buy ski X that shit is worthless. I don't know that much about your skiing and what your after but I'd guess one ski quiver, my recommendation would be something like a Moment PB&J, ON3P Wren 98 or Kartel 98 if you want more jibby but again the specific ski is irrelevant until you know the criteria. Ride a bunch of people's skis or demo if you can try all kinds of shit even shit you don't think you'd like and identify the physical criteria your looking for and then ask lots of people about say a mid 20's radius, even flex, stiff, 100mm waist ski that can handle bigish dumps while being able to hack super firm hardpack in PA. Justo or Toast may have a totally differnt idea about what that ski is then say me or doug or whatever and that's cool because we all ski differently.

  32. Snowmaking on Tut’s upper and lower, but not the middle. The whole summit area, Challenge and Burma. Fan Guns going all day in Vista, Midway, Main St, Tuts and Lazy.

  33. Beautiful chilly morning at Blue today. Vista is nice, predictable. Midway was surprising nice today with a lot of blower fan gun Pocono powder over the lower half of the trail. Lazy once again has the nicest snow, rotd. Come Around stayed nice, not a lot of park rats out in 20°F weather. Upper Main St is still a giant field of marbles. Maybe they don’t have the setting on the new groomer tweaked out yet. Later in the morning it got a little better once the sun baked it a little. 15 runs in 2:20. Felt great to be on the Mantras and open the speed up with nobody on the slopes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  46. The PA liquor control board does not allow bars to sell any alcohol below cost so they can sell domestic drafts for $1 but can't sell Guinness draft for $1 as a bars cost is about $1.50ish per pint on Guinness. Selling $2 IPAs is smart..some people will end up ordering more expensive mixed drinks or shots or food...

  47. It's lemonade stand economics. It's so simple. I truly think they would have sold at least 50% more tickets today at $39 vs $52 and since skiing is a service and there aren't any additional marginal costs for more skiers and riders coming the goal is to pack in more people. Each extra person could potentially have to rent, need a lesson, buy food or maybe buy something they forgot like gloves or a face mask. Back to the numbers if Blue sold 100 tickets during the daytime today at $52 each I'd be surprised and that's $5200 in revenue. If they charged $39 a ticket and even sold 150 tickets that's $5850 and im being very conservative with my figures I think the difference between $52 and $39 is just so psychologically huge. $39 is a great early season price point. Over $50 seems expensive especially with just the loser lifts running.
