I basically run seminar discussions for a living and we sometimes map the conversation to see connections and diagnose problems. So I made a flow chart to examine the Thread-tastrophe that happened here this evening. I'm not innocent, I admit that eaf. This chart has the advantage of representing 90% of ski-forum "help me choose a ski" discussions, so I feel that it could be a real time-saver in the future. Near as I can figure, it all went wrong when someone mentioned skis.

Day 3: redux of day one, just colder, poorer viz and more wind (summit quad getting intermittent wind holds). Agree with comment on not a lot of trees, maybe 4 mapped glades????? Anyhoo, this trip has been a real gem. Finishing up lunch and back out. Insider tip: park at children’s lodge to avoid long parking lot walks. Can park next to lodge (no one goes there except locals) and lodge is always empty

An awful lot of women's skis are the exact same as the men's model but with a different topsheet (Kendo/Kenja, e.g.). Or they'll be the same but with less metal and/or a range of shorter sizes which may work for all kinds of skiers. Basically, aside from the menopausal graphics, most "women's" skis are just for smaller, lighter skiers. Some do have more forward mount points, though, and I think some Blizzards have sidecut specifically designed around the more-forward mount point. I have men's skis and men's boots because of my height, weight, and circus-clown sized feet. Fine by me--I hate pink shit anyway and definitely don't want white, fur-lined boots on account of I don't live in a f***ing Bond movie.

If you ski the mtn like a normal person most days are decent conditions. If you just bomb every run and try to lay down tracks it needs to be a certain range of goodness. Every time I slow down and actually enjoy the trails its great no matter what snow.

Widow Maker is going to blow in tonight, it will be dick deep titty sparkles tomorrow for opening.

Really good conditions today. Maybe 2" but hard to tell with all of the wind. Some trails were protected but most were not. Regardless, it blended in nicely with the groomed trails. The wind was some of the worst that I have seen there. I passed Ryan on the way up and he just sent me a text saying that the 6er was stopped on wind-hold. I'm not surprised since it is so damn windy, which is likely why they will be closing early. I was able to stop on Razors top headwall with my skis pointed down and not move an inch because of how strong the wind was. Other than that, 3 hours of great groomers.

I sometimes do that and ask if anyone wants to play "bar-chicken" going into the terminal just to see the look of horror on their faces. Good times.

Whiteface can be really good but most times I've been there it's lived up to it's moniker, "Iceface" in one way or another. I like Gore better than Whiteface. Gore when it is 100% has a lot of diversity and pods to get away from the crowds and out of the wind if it's windy. It also has more trees if you're into that.

Day 2: 5” from yesterday plus ultra light product from guns made for one of our best days at WF. Lower empire was open which was a first for us. Classic New England trail. Gives us access to cloud splitter glades also. Did that as opening run then shot over to summit quad because upper skyward looked amazing. And it was. Usually the first 200 yards is a sketch slide but the whole trail top to bottom were creamy turns. We lapped skyward about 6 x before heading back to wilderness pod. Also a fun seeded bump line at bottom which made the top to bottom worthwhile. Taking a break now. Boys still out there. My legs are feeling it but I may have a few more left in me. Made it to the mountain in 4 1/2 hrs (love Waze). Mountain picked up ~2” today which was a unexpected surprise. 15F but under summit little wind so not so bad. Visibility off of summit was sketch though. Generally all trails Skied awesome. Lapped off top (3.5 blue mountains). Still pumping guns on upper skyward. ROTD was upper wilderness (pic) as it was getting a 21 gun salute and with natural was man/nature pow day. Floaty turns, first of season! Lookout was closed, oh well. Picking up pizza, a ubu ale or three and it’s lights out for me. I’m old [emoji41]

I can work remotely, so kinda yes, kinda no.

476 north of the turnpike was fine, clear of snow and moving well above the reduced speed limit of 45. The Blue Route was in shitty condition snow wise with slow traffic abundant. This as of my 1:15-3:00 pm commute from Aston.

I probably would have driven home barefoot.

Geez, I just drove around the corner and took my ski boots off. It was super warm that day, I think I drove home in flip-flops.

I drove all the way back to Allentown in ski boots the day the ski patrol chased me and Root out of blue in 2009

I'm more concerned that my beer will freeze.

I recall hearing the same thing. On the big storm the other year, they had them on hold, so I drove back up to the summit in ski boots.

Probably have about 3-4 inches here in SEPA. Roads were/are a mess with the winds. Still coming down as of right now but slowly becoming lighter

I just death grip the lift when other people force the bar up without my permission. They'll fly off but ill stay on the lift just fine.

Not surprising though. I've ridden with so many people that want to lift the bar the moment the chair crests the mountain and the landing comes into view. I usually keep my skis on the footrests just to annoy people who want to lift it so soon. The other day I had some girls freaking out as I kept my skis on the footrest to the very last support.

Wow just wow...that lift is slippery..and that is like a 15-20 foot drop onto a very flat slope. Maybe they already pulled the bar up. It's insane how many people don't use the safety bar. I can't think of many worse ways to get injured or die than falling off a chairlift. Out at Jackson hole most of the locals don't put the bar down and many ski with backpacks. So stupid. Many also don't use helmets.

Btw, somebody has fallen off the 6-pack yesterday, right over the part where Sidewinder starts. Had to be evacuated. Use the safety bar.

hayata and I always park in the line that is facing you that backs up to the beginner hill.

Look to the sides of Main Street (sometimes Lazy) later in the morning and drop over the spine and pop off the lip back onto the trail to get your feet wet and practice. That way you can pick the size of the jump you want and amount of air you want to get. Then move up to the jumps on Come Around and/or Lower Park. I don't like the way they make the landings at Blue's jumps, as they're too close and I always fly them and land on the flats. Yeah, I know, slow down, but what fun is that!
